Your PA-KA27A Bluetooth Keyboard is designed to provide seamless compatibility between the iPad and user, while combining functionality and aesthetics. Following the recommendations in this guide ensures maximum performance with proper case connection.
For best results, we recommend setting up your iPad, including adding your fingerprint in Touch ID, before installing it in the PA-KA27A case. This ensures all sensors and buttons are fully accessible during setup. The PA-KA27A case is engineered to deliver maximum protection while maintaining optimal functionality, so completing the initial setup outside the case allows you to take full advantage of its design features.

Product Description
The PA-KA27A is a Bluetooth Keyboard solution for users who frequently use their iPad for data entry or document editing. The PA-KA27A is an accessory to be used in combination with iPads housed in the protective *PIVOT A27A case.
The PA-KA27A enhances the convenience, functionality, and transportation of the iPad and keyboard by combining them into one, easy to manage assembly.
This versatile solution features a 360-degree hinge, which allows for a variety of usage configurations: laptop mode, tablet mode, and transit mode.
The PA-KA27A is case-specific and only compatible with the PIVOT A27A case.

iPad Compatibility
The PA-KA27A is compatible with multiple generations of iPad. Before attempting to install your iPad, refer to the information below to confirm compatibility.
The PA-KA27A supports the following iPads:

Did You Know?
Similar to the PIVOT A27A case, not all PA-KA27A compatible devices have the same buttons, speakers, or camera placements. That’s why the access openings in the PA-KA27A case are specifically designed to suit the varying features of all compatible iPad types.

Installing PA-KA27A
STEP 1: Remove the iPad from the PIVOT A27A case. Beginning with the bottom edge near the charging port, press firmly using your thumbs to disengage the case seal. Continue carefully pressing around the edges of the case to release the iPad in the order shown. Do not attempt to pry or force the iPad from the case.
A. Start at the bottom and move left.
B. Continue around the top edge.
C. Release the right edge to remove iPad.
STEP 2: Place the PA-KA27A keyboard into the PIVOT A27A case body.
STEP 3: With the PA-KA27A USB-C charging port aligned properly with the PIVOT A27A case body, press the keyboard into place within the case body.
STEP 4: Open the iPad shell in preparation for installing the iPad.
STEP 5: Align the iPad camera turret with the corresponding camera lens window in the iPad shell.
STEP 6: Press the corners of the iPad into the iPad shell beginning with the camera and button. The iPad will snap securely into the case’s perimeter seal. Reference STEP 1 if necessary.
Congratulations!
Assembly is now complete. You are now ready to pair the PA-KA27A with your iPad via Bluetooth, see next page for steps.
PA-KA27A Bluetooth Pairing
1. 
Locate the power switch on the bottom right of the keyboard and set to position On.
2. 
Press Fn + C keys to start Bluetooth pairing connection.
(The keyboard will automatically reconnect when you turn it on for the second time.)
3. 
A) Open the iPad and find “Settings”.
B) Make sure the “Bluetooth” function is on, as shown on the left.
C) The PA-KA27A pairing information will appear as PIVOT-KB001 in the Bluetooth list on your screen, as shown on the left.
D) Select PIVOT-KB001 to pair and connect.
Important!
Immediately after pairing, press and hold the Fn + iOS keys (Fn+ iOS) to activate the iOS formatting. The pairing process is not complete until the iOS formatting is activated.
Pro Tip!
If the Fn + C keys are pressed by mistake after pairing is successful, the Bluetooth connection will be disconnected. If this occurs, turn the keyboard off and then on to automatically reconnect. If you need to reconnect manually, delete the connected PA-KA27A by clicking PIVOT-KB001 from the Bluetooth list before reconnecting using the same pairing steps above.
Indicator Light Description
- The uppercase and lowercase indicator lights turn on when you press the CAPS LOCK key to switch to uppercase, and turn off when you switch to lowercase. Turn the power switch to position On to power on.
- Blue pairing indicator: blue light flashes when pairing.
- Power indicator light: the green light turns on after powering on, and goes off after 3 seconds. When voltage is low, the red light flashes. When charging, the red light will be solid. When fully charged, the red light turns off.
Fn Key Descriptions
The blue character functions of certain keys must be used in combination with the Fn key. To activate, press and hold the Fn key + the desired blue character function key. See below for the PA-KA27A keyboard layout and described function keys.

The PA-KA27A is durable if used as intended, but can be damaged if subjected to repeated stress and misuse.
Do not attempt to force the PA-KA27A beyond its maximum open position of 180°.

Do not use excessive force when opening, closing, adjusting the PA-KA27A, or attempt to force beyond its intended range of motion. Damage resulting from such misuse is not covered under warranty.

Sleep Mode Function
If the PA-KA27A is not operated for more than 10 minutes, it will automatically enter sleep mode and the keyboard will disconnect from Bluetooth to preserve battery life. To wake from sleep mode, press any key on the keyboard and wait 3 seconds, then the keyboard will wake and automatically reconnect.
Charging
Normal use should allow for several weeks between charges. However, when desired or the power indicator light is observed flashing red indicating low power, follow these procedures:
Step 1: Connect the USB-C cable head to the keyboard and the USB-A/USB-C cable to the power adapter.
Step 2: When charging, the power indicator light appears solid red. When fully charged, the red power indicator light will turn off.
Safety Precautions
- Keep away from oily chemicals or other dangerous liquids. The PA-KA27A includes a removable, replaceable silicone keyboard cover intended to prevent the keys from contamination and to provide basic protection from liquid intrusion. To clean, gently wipe the silicone keyboard cover with isopropyl alcohol. Allow at least 24 hours to dry before powering on again.
- Keep away from sharp objects to avoid puncture of the internal lithium-ion battery.
- Avoid risk of keypad obstruction. Do not place heavy objects on the keyboard.
FAQ
1) Can I use the PA-KA27A with a case other than the PIVOT A27A?
No. This accessory is currently only compatible with the PIVOT A27A case.
2) I can’t seem to connect the PA-KA27A to my iPad, what can I do?
If the PA-KA27A isn’t working correctly, please try the following steps:
A. Make sure the PA-KA27A is within 10 meters of the effective working distance.
B. Make sure Bluetooth pairing is successful. If not, attempt re-pairing.
C. If pairing is still unsuccessful, remove the existing Bluetooth name from your iPad list and re-pair it through the pairing process described in this guide.
D. Check the battery status, and if it is low then charge.
3) Why is the PA-KA27A not charged or not charging correctly?
A. Make sure the USB-C charging cable is correctly connected to both the accessory and charger power supply.
B. Make sure the charger power supply is correctly connected to a power outlet.
4) Why does Caps Lock have no function in iOS?
By default, Caps Lock functions as the language switch. If you want to change it to the normal capitalization function, follow these steps:
Apple iOS Settings > General > Keyboard > Enable Caps Lock (O )
5) Why don’t the multimedia function keys work in iOS?
They do, but only in the Music app. Open the Music app and then press the corresponding multimedia key in the player. (Previous song, play and pause, next song, stop are all multimedia keys.)
