The preset cooking options of your Philips Airfryer are designed for your ease and convenience.
What are presets?
Preset cooking programs are pre-saved settings on your Airfryer that help you select time and temperature quickly and conveniently. The preset icons are visible on the Airfryer's display. To select them, use the menu button, the QuickControl dial, or tap the icon, depending on your Airfryer model.
Common Presets:
- "Frozen snacks" (e.g., frozen French fries, frozen potato wedges)
- "Fresh fries" (cut from fresh potatoes, not pre-fried or frozen)
- "Chicken" (drumsticks, wings, or a whole chicken)
- "Fish" (whole fish or fillets)
- "Cake" or other baking
- "Keep warm"
More or different options may be available depending on your Airfryer model. Consult your User Manual for details. You can view and download it using your model number at www.philips.com/support. The model number is located on the sticker at the bottom of your appliance.

What Kind of Food Can I Make in My Philips Airfryer?
Your Philips Airfryer is a versatile appliance for cooking a wide variety of ingredients and dishes. You can fry, roast, grill, bake, toast, and more. It's also convenient for cooking frozen food and reheating meals.
Food Categories:
- Meat and fish dishes: Chicken, beef, fish, and most other fried, grilled, or roasted dishes. Breaded food can also be prepared with added oil in the breading.
- Vegetables: All vegetables suitable for grilling, such as courgette, corn on the cob, or peppers.
- Frozen foods: Frozen snacks can be cooked directly without defrosting. While they may require slightly longer preparation time, the result is not affected. Temperature control helps select the best setting.
- Baked treats: Cakes, tarts, muffins, bread, or homemade pizza can be prepared.
Casseroles like lasagne can be cooked using a baking dish that fits the Airfryer basket. Leftovers can be reheated to become crispy again.

How Much Food Can I Prepare in My Philips Airfryer?
Fill the Airfryer basket up to the "MAX" indication. The maximum amount depends on the food type and Airfryer model size.
Capacity Guidelines:
- Potatoes or fries: The basket holds 500 to 2000 grams of French fries, depending on the model. For best results, fill the basket to 2/3 of the max indication.
- Poultry or meat (whole or in pieces): Depending on the model, prepare items like meat loaf or a whole chicken with a maximum weight between 800 and 2500 grams. Distribute meat in a single layer, ensuring the bottom is not completely covered for proper hot air circulation.
- Stuffed vegetables, snacks, or fragile food: Place in a single layer on the basket bottom, leaving enough space between ingredients for easy removal with tongs.
- Cakes, quiches, muffins, or breads: Use a baking tin or oven dish that fits the basket, allowing side space for air circulation. Do not fill baking tins or trays more than halfway, as rising dough may touch the heating element and burn.
Refer to your User Manual or the NutriU App for more detailed information. To check or download the User Manual, find your model number on the appliance's bottom sticker and visit www.philips.com/support.
Why Do I Have to Shake the Food in My Philips Airfryer?
Shaking the food in the basket ensures air circulates around it, especially when stacked in multiple layers, leading to more even cooking results. It also allows you to check the color and cooking progress.
Ingredients to Shake and Frequency:
All ingredients cooked in more than one layer need to be shaken (stirred or turned) during cooking for even results.
Recommended Foods to Shake:
- Chips
- Potato-based snacks
- Chicken nuggets
- Chicken wings
Important Notes:
- Fragile food should not be cooked in more than one layer, as shaking can damage it.
- When cooking frozen chips at maximum recommended quantity, shake the basket 3 to 4 times minimum for even cooking.
- The more food you place in the Airfryer, the more often you should shake it.
How to Shake Ingredients:
Remove the basket (and pan, if applicable) from the appliance. Shake the basket over a sink, then place it back into the pan and slide both into the appliance. Ensure food is mixed well during shaking, with lower layers coming to the top and vice versa, for even results.
Shaking Reminder Feature (HD9285, HD9860-HD9867, HD9875, HD9880 only): Some models notify you with a beep when it's time to shake food during cooking with default presets, auto-cook programs, or Smart Chef programs. Refer to your User Manual for more details on this feature.
Do I Need to Preheat My Philips Airfryer?
No, preheating is not required. You can place ingredients directly into the basket without preheating.
