About Exergen manuals on Manuals.plus
Exergen Corporation is a prominent manufacturer specializing in infrared temperature sensing technology for both medical and industrial sectors. Based in Watertown, Massachusetts, the company revolutionized thermometry with the development of the TemporalScanner™, a device that measures body temperature via the temporal artery on the forehead. This method provides a non-invasive, accurate, and gentle alternative to traditional oral, rectal, or ear thermometers, making it a preferred choice for pediatricians, nurses, and parents worldwide.
In addition to its widely used consumer and clinical thermometers, such as the TAT-2000 and TAT-5000 series, Exergen produces high-performance non-contact temperature sensors for diverse industrial applications. The company prides itself on its patented Arterial Heat Balance (AHB) technology, which ensures precision by accounting for ambient temperature effects during scanning.

A temporal artery temperature is considered a core temperature and is typically about 0.5°C (1°F) higher than an oral temperature, similar to a rectal temperature.
-
What typically causes a low temperature reading?
Low readings can occur if the probe lens is dirty, if the scan was performed too quickly, or if the thermometer was not acclimated to the room temperature. Ensure the probe is clean and flush against the forehead during the scan.
