It supports both 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks, ensuring stable connectivity across various home network setups. With compatibility for popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Home, you can manage your appliances with simple voice commands. The smart plug also offers remote control via the Smart Life app, along with advanced scheduling and timer functions to automate your home and save energy.

4.1 Powering On and Pairing Mode

  1. Plug the EIGHTREE Smart Plug into a standard wall outlet.
  2. The power indicator light on the plug should start blinking. If it does not blink, press and hold the power button on the side of the plug for approximately 5 seconds until the light starts blinking. This indicates the device is in pairing mode.

4.2 Connecting to the Smart Life App

The EIGHTREE Smart Plug uses the Smart Life app for control and configuration. Ensure your mobile device's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.

  5. Confirm the indicator light on the smart plug is blinking.
  6. Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. The EIGHTREE Smart Plug supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection. The process usually takes 15-30 seconds.

4.3 Integrating with Voice Assistants (Alexa & Google Home)

To enable voice control, link your Smart Life account with your Amazon Alexa or Google Home app.

  2. Navigate to the 'Skills & Games' section (Alexa) or 'Works with Google' section (Google Home).
  3. Rapua 'Smart Life' and enable the skill/service.

  5. Discover devices. Your EIGHTREE Smart Plug should now appear in your Alexa/Google Home device list.

5.1 Remote Control via Smart Life App

Once connected, you can control your smart plug from anywhere using the Smart Life app.

5.2 Mana Reo (Alexa me Google Home)

Use simple voice commands to control your devices after linking your Smart Life account.

  • Mo Google Home: "Hey Google, turn on [device name]" or "Hey Google, turn off [device name]".

5.3 Timers & Schedules

Automate your devices with various timing functions available in the Smart Life app.

  • Hōtaka: Set specific times for your device to turn on or off daily or on selected days.

  • Porowhita: Configure the device to cycle on and off at regular intervals.

The smart plug also features a physical power button on its side. Press this button to manually turn the connected appliance on or off.

  • Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or sprays.

  • Connection failed in app: Double-check your Wi-Fi password. Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you are trying to connect the smart plug to.

7.2 Voice Control Problems

  • Voice commands not working: Ensure your Smart Life account is correctly linked to your Alexa or Google Home app. Verify the device name in the Smart Life app matches the name you are using in your voice commands.
  • Alexa/Google Home not discovering device: Try rediscovering devices in your Alexa or Google Home app after linking the Smart Life skill.
