  1. Wewete Waenga: Carefully remove all game components from the box.
  2. Tāpirihia ngā Waewae Rapa: If not already attached, place the 4 rubber feet on the underside of the gameboard to prevent it from sliding during play.
  3. Place Pawns: Each player selects a color and places their 4 pawns in their designated 'HOME' area on the gameboard.
  4. Assemble Shield: Insert the cardboard shield into its plastic stand and place it near the gameboard for easy access.
  5. Whakatauhia te Kaipara Tuatahi: The youngest player typically goes first, or players can roll the dice to see who gets the highest number.

Me pehea te purei

The objective of the Trouble game is to be the first player to move all four of your pawns from your 'HOME' area, around the game track, and into your 'FINISH' zone.

Rere Kēmu

  1. Tīmatahia te Kēmu: To move a pawn from your 'HOME' area to the 'START' space, you must roll a 6 on the number die. If you roll a 6, you move one pawn to 'START' and then roll again.
  2. Moving Pawns: On your turn, press the Pop-O-Matic bubble to roll both the number die and the symbol die. Move any one of your pawns forward the number of spaces indicated on the number die.
  3. The Symbol Die: This version includes a special symbol die. If you roll the 'Shield' symbol, your pawn is protected from being bumped back to 'HOME' if another player lands on your space. This protection lasts until your next turn. Other symbols on the die may grant additional moves or special actions as described in the full rulebook.
  4. Bumping Opponents: If your pawn lands on a space occupied by an opponent's pawn (and they do not have shield protection), the opponent's pawn is sent back to their 'HOME' area.
  5. Entering the Finish Zone: Once your pawn has completed a full circuit around the board, it can enter your 'FINISH' zone. You must roll the exact number needed to move your pawn into an empty space in your 'FINISH' zone.
  6. Te wikitoria i te keemu: The first player to successfully move all four of their pawns into their 'FINISH' zone wins the game!
