1. Kupu Whakataki
The Xfinity XR2 Remote Control is designed to provide seamless control over your Xfinity HD and HD-Digital Receivers, as well as your television and audio devices. This manual will guide you through the process of setting up, operating, and maintaining your remote control.

2. Tatūnga
2.1. Tāuta Pūhiko
Your XR2 remote requires four (4) AA batteries. To install:

- Insert the four AA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align with the indicators inside the compartment.

2.2. Initial Programming and Pairing
The XR2 remote can operate in either Infrared (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF) mode. For older Cisco HD DVRs or similar models, you may need to configure it for IR output.
2.2.1. Configuring for IR Mode (if needed)
- Patohia me te pupuri i te Tatūnga button (located at the very bottom left of the remote) until the red LED light at the top of the remote turns green.
- Pehia te A key (located above the numeric keys). The green light will flash three times, indicating the remote is now configured for IR output.
- The remote should now be ready for use with your DVR.
2.2.2. Programming for TV and Audio Devices
To control your television or audio receiver, you will need to program the remote using specific 5-digit codes provided in the accompanying pamphlet or available from Xfinity support. Follow the instructions provided with your remote for TV code entry.
3. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere
The XR2 remote features a variety of buttons for controlling your Xfinity DVR and connected devices. Familiarize yourself with the layout and functions below:
- Power (All Power): Turns on/off your TV and DVR simultaneously.
- Whakauru TV: Cycles through video inputs on your television.
- VOL +/-: Adjusts the volume of your television or audio receiver.
- Wahangu: Wahangu, wetewete ranei te ororongo.
- CH +/-: Changes channels on your DVR.
- Search (Q): Accesses the search function.
- Transport Controls (Play, Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, Stop, Record): Controls playback of live TV and recorded content.

- Putaatu: Exits menus or guides.
- Pai: Ka uru ki to rarangi hongere tino pai.
- A, B, C, D Buttons: Context-sensitive buttons for various functions within menus.
- Papapātuhi Tau (0-9): Ka uru tika ki nga nama hongere.
- Tatūnga: Whakamahia mō te hōtaka i te mana mamao.
- Mokowā: Used for text entry.
- Huri: Swaps between two tuners on compatible DVRs.
4. Tiaki
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your XR2 remote control, follow these maintenance guidelines:

5. Te Raru
If you encounter issues with your XR2 remote, try the following solutions:

- Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and your DVR/TV if operating in IR mode.
- Remote Not Controlling TV/Audio:
- Re-attempt the TV/audio programming steps using the correct 5-digit code for your device.
- Verify that the remote is configured for the correct mode (IR or RF) as described in Section 2.2.1.
- Remote Needs Reset:
- If the remote is behaving erratically, you can perform a factory reset. Press and hold the Tatūnga button until the LED turns green, then enter 9-8-1. The LED will flash, indicating a successful reset. You will then need to re-program the remote.
- Patene Kaore i te Mahi:
- Kia tino mohio kāore he paru e noho ana i raro i ngā pātene.
- If only specific buttons are not working, the remote may be faulty and require replacement.
