The CONTEC CMS50D2 Pulse Oximeter is a non-invasive device designed for measuring the oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2) and the pulse rate. This device is intended for spot-checking and continuous monitoring of adult and pediatric patients in home and clinical environments. It provides a quick and accurate assessment of respiratory function.

The concentration of oxygen determines the percentage of hemoglobin in arterial blood that is saturated with oxygen, making it an important parameter for evaluating respiratory function. The device is small, lightweight, and portable, making it convenient for use anywhere.

5. Tatūnga

5.1. Tāuta Pūhiko

The CMS50D2 Pulse Oximeter requires two AAA batteries for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries.

Follow these steps to obtain accurate readings:

  3. Insert one of your fingers (preferably the index, middle, or ring finger) into the rubber opening of the oximeter, ensuring the nail surface is facing upwards towards the display.

  5. Press the power button on the top of the device to turn it on.
  6. Keep your hand still during the measurement. Do not shake your finger.
  7. The readings for SpO2 and pulse rate will appear on the display within a few seconds.
  8. To change the display orientation or brightness, briefly press the power button while the device is on.
  9. The device will automatically power off after 5 seconds of inactivity or if the finger is removed.

  • SpO2: Peripheral Oxygen Saturation (percentage). This indicates the percentage of hemoglobin in your blood that is saturated with oxygen. Normal values typically range from 95% to 100%.
  • PRbpm: Pulse Rate (beats per minute). This is the number of times your heart beats per minute. Normal adult resting heart rate ranges from 60 to 100 bpm.
  • Kauwhata Pae Pā: A vertical bar graph indicating the strength of the pulse.
  • Plethysmograph (Waveform): A graphical representation of the pulse, showing blood flow through the finger.
