The manufacturer is not responsible for injuries that may occur due to improper use or installation of the gate. The buyer assumes all responsibilities for the gate once it is out of the seller's possession.
- Always ensure the gate is securely installed according to the instructions provided.
- Regularly check all components and mounting points for tightness and wear.
- Do not use this gate at the top of stairs unless explicitly stated in the instructions for hardware mounting. This model is primarily designed for pressure mounting in doorways and hallways.

4. Tatūnga me te Tāuta
The Carlson Extra Wide Walk Through Pet Gate utilizes a pressure-mount system for easy installation without damaging walls. It is designed for openings between 29 inches and 36.5 inches. Use the included extension kits (4-inch or 6-inch) as needed to fit wider openings within this range.

- Determine Opening Width: Measure the width of your doorway or opening. Select the appropriate combination of extensions (if any) to ensure the gate fits snugly.
- Assemble Spindle Rods: Screw the threaded spindle rods into the four corners of the gate frame. If using extensions, attach them to the main gate frame first, then screw the spindle rods into the extension corners.
- Tautuhi i te Kūaha: Place the gate in the desired opening. Ensure the bottom bar is flush with the floor and the gate is centered.
- Whakaritea te Pēhanga: Rotate the adjustable hand wheels on each spindle rod clockwise to extend the rods until they make firm contact with the walls. Continue tightening each wheel evenly until the gate is securely held in place and does not move when pushed. The gap at the latch mechanism should be minimal but allow for smooth opening and closing.
- Optional Wall Cups: For added stability, especially in high-traffic areas or if the gate will be frequently opened, you can use the included wall cups. Mark the position of each spindle rod on the wall, attach the wall cups using the provided screws, and then seat the spindle rods into the cups.
- Haumarutanga Whakamatau: Once installed, firmly push and pull on the gate to ensure it is stable and does not shift. Adjust the tension as necessary.

5. Nga Tohutohu Whakahaere
Opening the Main Gate:
The main gate features a walk-through design with a secure latch mechanism. To open, simply lift the handle on the non-hinged side. This action disengages the latch, allowing the gate to swing open in either direction. To close, gently push the gate shut until the latch mechanism clicks into place, ensuring it is securely fastened.

Using the Small Pet Door:
An 8-inch by 8-inch small pet door is integrated into the main gate, allowing smaller pets like cats or small dogs to pass through without requiring the main gate to be opened. This door can be opened by sliding a small latch located on its side. Ensure the small pet door is securely latched when you do not wish for smaller pets to pass through.

6. Tiaki me te Tiaki
To maintain the longevity and appearance of your Carlson Pet Gate, follow these care instructions:
- Te horoi: Do not use abrasive cleaners or bleach on any part of the gate. Clean the gate by sponging with warm water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent rust.
- Tirotiro: Periodically inspect the gate for any signs of damage, loose parts, or wear. Ensure all connections and the pressure-mount system remain tight and secure.
- Whakahinuhinu: If the hinge or latch mechanism becomes stiff, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to ensure smooth operation.
7. Te Raru
If you encounter issues with your pet gate, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Gate feels loose or unstable: Re-tighten all four adjustable hand wheels evenly until the gate is firmly secured in the opening. Ensure the wall cups (if used) are properly installed and the gate is seated within them.
- Gate does not latch properly: Check if the gate is installed squarely in the opening. Slight adjustments to the tension of the spindle rods may be needed to ensure the latch aligns correctly. The gap at the latch should be minimal when the gate is closed.
- Gate is difficult to open/close: Ensure the gate is not overtightened, which can cause friction. If the latch is stiff, apply a small amount of lubricant as described in the Maintenance section.
- Small pet door is stuck: Check for any obstructions around the small pet door. Ensure its latch mechanism is clean and free of debris.
