Activating Your Smart TV
To activate your Roku TV and access thousands of streaming channels, you need a Roku account.
Roku Account Setup:
- During guided setup, you will be prompted to create your Roku account online.
- From your smartphone, tablet, or computer, go to www.roku.com/link and enter the unique link code displayed on your TV screen.
- Roku accounts are free. While a credit card is not required to create an account, providing payment information makes renting and purchasing entertainment from the Roku Channel Store faster.
- You can add a unique PIN to prevent unauthorized purchases.
Tip: Ensure you type roku.com/link accurately into your browser. Roku does not charge for activation support; beware of scams.
Connecting to the Internet
After selecting "Set up for home use" during initial setup, the TV will prompt you to connect to the internet. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Once connected, your TV will automatically update with the latest software. This process may take a few minutes. Your Philips Roku TV receives regular background updates when connected to the internet, improving your experience over time.
Using the Remote Control
This remote is designed for intuitive TV watching and menu navigation.
* The G button provides easy access to picture settings and display options.
Connecting Antenna or Cable (Optional)
With the built-in tuner, you can connect your TV to an antenna or free cable service (does not work with cable TV using a set-top box) to enjoy over-the-air entertainment.
After setup is complete, select the "Antenna TV" tile from the home screen to watch local broadcast TV.
Tip: While in the Antenna TV input, use your remote:
- D-Pad Left: Access the smart guide (list of antenna TV channels).
- Play/Pause: With a 16GB USB drive connected, pause and resume Live TV.
- RWD Scan and FWD Scan: Fast forward and rewind Live TV when paused.
- D-Pad Left/Right: Scroll through paused Live TV and select scenes.
Download the Roku Mobile App (Optional)
The free Roku mobile app allows you to use your mobile device as a fully functioning remote control with voice search and keyboard, and enjoy private listening through headphones.
- Download the "Roku app" from Google Play or Apple App Store.
- Follow the on-screen prompts for setup.
Connections and Controls Overview
Ports on the TV:
- HDMI input jacks: For connecting various devices. HDMI 3 supports HDMI-ARC for audio output to compatible devices like home theater systems.
- Ethernet port: Connect an RJ-45 Ethernet cable for wired network connection.
- USB port: Connect a USB flash memory drive for media playback or to pause Live TV (requires 16GB or larger USB drive).
- Headphone 3.5 mm stereo jack: For private listening.
- AV input jack: Use the included AV IN adapter to connect external devices like VCRs. Note: Images may be distorted due to copyright protection when connecting a VCR.
- Digital audio (S/PDIF) output: For connecting to home theater or digital audio systems. An optical to coaxial adapter may be needed for coaxial inputs.
Control Panel (Back of TV):
- Power: Turns the TV on or switches to standby mode.
- Channel/Menu Navigation: Selects channels or navigates menus.
- Volume/Menu Navigation: Adjusts volume or navigates menus.
- Remote control sensor.
- Factory Reset: Press once for factory reset (caution: this will erase all settings).
Connecting External Devices
What you need (not included): Phillips screwdriver, network router, internet connection, computer/tablet/smartphone, Roku account.
Connection Types:
- High Quality (HDMI): Connect Blu-ray™/DVD players, home theater systems, cable/satellite/IPTV boxes, gaming consoles, PCs, digital cameras, camcorders, or tablets.
- Standard Quality (AV IN): Connect DVD players, home theater systems, cable/satellite/IPTV boxes, video cassette recorders, or gaming consoles using the AV IN adapter and an AV cable.
- USB: Connect a USB memory stick for media playback or Live TV pause.
- Audio Output: Connect soundbars or home theaters lacking ARC via the Digital Audio Out port.

Caution: Disconnect the AC power cord before connecting devices.
Powering On Your TV
Remote Control Batteries: Insert included batteries, matching (+) and (-) terminals. If the remote gets warm/hot, discontinue use and contact customer support. Always replace used batteries with new ones from the same manufacturer; never use damaged batteries.
Power Connection: Connect the AC power cord to the AC outlet. Press the power button on the TV's remote control.
