Introduction
This manual provides essential methods and procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of the HALO BassiNest Hospital Series swivel sleeper. It is designed to educate and train staff on its proper use.

Product Description
The HALO BassiNest Hospital Series swivel sleeper includes a removable basin storage bin and work surface, two side-storage caddies, locking caster wheels, a clear BassiNest tub, and a mattress.
Intended Use
The HALO Hospital BassiNest is designed as a sleeping surface for infant/newborn patients. The device raises and lowers for easier access to the infant/newborn. The bassinet tub allows for easy access via its rotating and swiveling capabilities and its ergonomically-friendly retractable front wall. It is also designed for in-hospital transport.
This product is NOT INTENDED for patients who can crawl or reposition themselves independently.
Contraindications
None known.
Setup
Follow these steps before initial use:
- Remove all shipping and packaging materials from the product.
- Remove and discard the shipping screw located on the tower/lift column of the BassiNest.
- Remove wrap from the work surface and removable basin storage bin.
- Unpack and install the two side storage caddies on each end of the clear bassinet tub.
- Remove the mattress from packaging. Clean and disinfect the mattress.
- Clean and disinfect the entire unit.
- Place the mattress in a tight-fitting sheet or pillowcase.
- Run through operation steps to ensure the unit is in working order upon delivery.
Serial Number Location
The serial number can be found on the vertical pole below the BassiNest Tub, formatted as "XX-XXXX".

Operation
Raising and Lowering the BassiNest:
- To Raise: Pull upwards on the black height adjustment knob to unlock it. Continue pulling upwards until the desired height is reached. Release the knob to automatically lock the height. Roll the front wheels of the BassiNest under the mother's bed.
- To Lower: Place your thumb on the top of the metal pole. Use your index and middle fingers to gently pull up on the black height adjustment knob to unlock it. While squeezing the knob in the unlocked position, push down on the pole to lower to the desired height. Never apply more than 30 lb (13.6 kg) of downward force.
Engaging and Disengaging Caster Locks:
- To Engage: Push down on the pedal with your foot.
- To Disengage: Lift up on the pedal with your foot.
Retractable Sidewall Operation:
- To Lock (Raised Position): Slide the two yellow locks so they fully engage under the top edges of the retractable sidewall.
- To Unlock: Slide the two yellow locks away from the retractable sidewall and under the stationary sidewalls.
- To Lower: Ensure the yellow sidewall locks are in the unlocked position. Apply gentle downward pressure with your hand or forearm in the center of the wall. The wall will automatically return to the raised position when pressure is released.
- To Remove for Cleaning: Locate the two removable pivot knobs on either end of the tub. Rotate the knobs counter-clockwise to loosen. Pull the knobs off the BassiNest and remove the retractable sidewall. Reverse these steps to reassemble. The product must only be used with the sidewall assembled.
Storage Caddies:
Two storage caddies can be placed on the ends of the bassinet tub. To remove, simply lift them up. Use them to store items like diapers, wipes, and feeding supplies.
Additional Covered Storage:
An additional covered storage area is located on the tower of the bassinet. Slide a standard basin into the track to attach it.
Transporting the Bassinet
CAUTION
- Always engage the transport lock, rotate the swivel arm to the forward position, and orient the BassiNest tub parallel to the base before transporting the unit.
- Do not engage the caster locks to stop the bassinet while in transport.
- Do not operate the product on soft or unstable surfaces (e.g., sand, grass, gravel) to avoid instability or difficult mobility.
- Do not attempt to transport with caster locks engaged.
- Once positioned, engage the caster locks before unlocking and using the rotational arm.
Reprocessing and Cleaning
WARNING
- Always disinfect the mattress between patients to minimize the risk of cross-contamination and infection.
- Do not immerse the mattress in cleaning or disinfectant solutions.
- Do not allow liquids to pool on the mattress.
- Always completely dry the unit before storing, adding linens, or placing a patient in it.
CAUTION
- Do not clean, service, or perform maintenance while the product is in use.
- Do not use ether-based cleaners as they may damage the product.
Cleaning Instructions
Tools Required:
- Mild anti-bacterial soap
- Soft, lint-free cloth (2 or more)
- Apply the caster locks.
- Prepare a mild soap and warm water solution.
- Wipe the inside and outside of the basket and mattress with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with the soap and water solution.
- Wipe all bassinet surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with the soap and water solution.
- Wipe off excess moisture from all surfaces with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.
- Allow the surfaces of the basket and bassinet to dry thoroughly.
Disinfecting
WARNING
- Always disinfect the mattress between infants/newborns to avoid the risk of cross-contamination and infection.
- Do not immerse the mattress in cleaning or disinfectant solutions.
- Do not allow liquids to pool on the mattress.
- Always completely dry the mattress, basket, and bassinet before storing, adding linens, or placing an infant/newborn in the basket. Drying helps prevent product performance impairment.
CAUTION
- Do not overexpose the product to high concentration disinfectant solutions, as they may degrade the product.
- Do not use ether-based cleaners, as they may damage the product.
Recommended Disinfectants:
- Quaternary cleaners (ammonium chloride)
- Phenolic cleaners
- Chlorinated bleach solution (1 part bleach to 100 parts water)
- 70% isopropyl alcohol
- Diluted hydrogen peroxide cleaners <10%
Disinfecting Procedure:
- Apply the recommended disinfectant solution by spray or with pre-soaked wipes. Do not soak the product.
- Note: Ensure you follow the disinfectant's instructions for contact time and rinsing requirements.
- Wipe all bassinet surfaces with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth to remove excess liquid or disinfectant.
- Allow surfaces to dry completely.
Preventive Maintenance Inspection
Remove the product from service before performing this inspection. Conduct this inspection at least once per year, checking all listed items. More frequent checks may be necessary based on product usage. Service should only be performed by qualified personnel.

Warranty
Halo Dream, Inc. warrants the HALO Hospital Bassinet, Model 3957, to the original purchaser, to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years after the date of delivery. HALO's obligation under this warranty is limited to supplying replacement parts or replacing the product at HALO's discretion if found defective.
Improper use, alteration, or repair by unauthorized persons may void the warranty. Using parts not provided or authorized by HALO also voids this warranty. No HALO employee or representative is authorized to change this warranty.
Warranty Exclusion and Damage Limitations
This express warranty is the only warranty applicable. All other warranties, express or implied (including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose), are expressly excluded by HALO. HALO shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages.

Return Authorization
Products cannot be returned without prior approval from HALO Customer Service. HALO reserves the right to charge shipping and restocking fees for returned products. Special, modified, or discontinued products are not returnable.
Damaged Product
ICC Regulations require claims for damaged products to be made within fifteen (15) days of receipt. Do not accept damaged shipments unless damage is noted on the delivery receipt. HALO will file a freight claim for damages. Claims are limited to the actual replacement cost. If this information is not received by HALO within fifteen (15) days of delivery, or if damage was not noted on the receipt, the customer is responsible for the full original invoice amount within thirty (30) days of receipt. Claims for incomplete shipments must be made within thirty (30) days of invoice.
Expected Device Life
The HALO BassiNest swivel sleeper has a minimum expected service life of three years under normal use conditions with appropriate periodic maintenance.
