Futaba R314SB T-FHSS 2.4GHz System S.BUS2, 4-Channel Receiver for Model Car

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the R314SB receiver. The R314SB is designed for use with the Futaba T-FHSS system transmitter. It features the newly developed bidirectional communication system "T-FHSS".

Key Features

Compatibility

The R314SB is compatible with T-FHSS system transmitters. It does NOT work with current Futaba S-FHSS/FHSS/FASST-est/FASST systems.

Receiver Overview

The receiver unit features an LED indicator and a link switch.

Description of receiver layout: The receiver has a label indicating "Futaba", "R314SB", "4 CHANNEL", "2.4GHz", "T-FHSS". It shows ports labeled "CH output (1 to 4) / (Battery)" and "S.BUS2 / (Battery)". A link switch is also visible near the LED.

Operating Precautions

Once the R314SB detects either the T-FHSS normal mode or T-FHSS high speed mode, the detected mode is locked as long as the power is ON. To change the mode, cycle the power.

Link Procedure

Each transmitter has a unique ID code. To start operation, the receiver must be linked with the transmitter's ID. Once linked, the ID is stored, and no further linking is needed unless pairing with a different transmitter.

  1. Place the transmitter and receiver close to each other, within 0.5 meters (approx. 1.6 feet).
  2. Place the transmitter into its linking mode and turn on the receiver.
  3. During the transmitter's countdown, press and hold the receiver's tact switch for approximately 2 seconds. The LED will begin to blink red.
  4. After the receiver LED switches from blinking red to a steady green light, if the transmitter and receiver are linked normally, turn the power switch OFF and then back ON. A green LED indicates successful linking. Verify servo operation.

LED Status and Receiver Condition

ConditionLED Status
No signal receptionLED: Red
Receiving signalsLED: Green
Unrecoverable failure (EEPROM, etc.)LED: Red and Green turn on alternately

Refer to the transmitter's operation manual for detailed instructions on placing the transmitter into linking mode.

Important Note on Linking: If multiple T-FHSS systems are operating nearby, your receiver might have difficulty establishing a link. In rare cases, if another T-FHSS transmitter/receiver is linking simultaneously, your receiver could inadvertently link to the wrong transmitter. This is dangerous if not noticed. To prevent this, always double-check that your receiver is under the control of the intended transmitter.

Usage Condition on "High Speed Mode"

⚠️ CAUTION: When using "High Speed mode", use a Futaba digital servo (including brushless servos). Analog servos cannot be used.

❗ The use of analog servos may cause servo trouble.

Post-Linking Safety

⚠️ WARNING: After linking is completed, cycle the receiver power and verify that the receiver is under the control of the intended transmitter.

Do not perform the linking procedure with the motor's main wire connected or with the engine operating, as this may result in serious injury.

Example of Connection

Description of connection diagram: The diagram illustrates the R314SB receiver connected to various components.
  • Battery: A LiFePO4 Battery (6.6V-1800mAh [FOR EU]) is connected. A note indicates that if all ports are used, connect the battery using a HUB or Y-harness.
  • Switch: Connected to the receiver.
  • CH2: Connected to the Throttle servo.
  • CH1: Connected to the Steering servo.
  • S.BUS2 Port: Connected to a HUB.
The HUB is used to connect multiple telemetry sensors:
  • Temperature sensor
  • RPM sensor
  • Voltage sensor
  • Other Telemetry sensors (Optional)
A text label states: "Collect many telemetry sensors by HUB and connect them to S.BUS2 port."

Note on Battery: ⚠️ CAUTION: Be sure to use a charger for LiFe only. (Japanese warning: 警告 充電はLiFe対応品をご使用ください。 - Warning: Please use a charger compatible with LiFe.)
