Fixed Domains and Country Codes (ROW)

This document outlines the process for configuring fixed domains and country codes for Cisco Catalyst IW series access points operating in the Rest of the World (ROW) domain. Proper configuration ensures correct wireless functionality and compliance with regional regulations.

Configure and Verify Country Code using CLI

To configure the country code for the ROW domain via the Command Line Interface (CLI), use the following command:

Device# configure countrycode [countrycode]

Example:

Configure countrycode GB

An error will be reported if the configured country code is not part of the ROW domain. The wireless interface may not function correctly if the country code is not set.

Note: Reboot the device after configuring the country code, or after changing other wireless parameters like frequency and channel width. This configuration is applicable to access points within the ROW domain, such as the IW9167EH-ROW.

Verifying Country Code Status

To check the status of the country code, use the following show command:

Device# show version | in Product

This command will display the Product/Model Number, for example: Product/Model Number: IW9167EH-ROW

To verify the ROW country code status specifically, use:

Device# show dot11Radio <interface> config

Example Output:

Device# show dot1lRadio 1 config
DFS region: GB
DFS radar role : auto
Radar Detected : 0
Indoor deployment: disable

Configure Country Code using GUI

Wireless interfaces require a configured country code to function correctly. Follow these steps to configure it via the Graphical User Interface (GUI):

  1. Navigate to GENERAL SETTINGS and click wireless radio.
  2. For ROW domain devices, if the country code is not selected, a pop-up window titled "Select operating country" will appear.
  3. In the pop-up, select the desired country from the dropdown list. This action will redirect you to the Wireless Settings section.
  4. Click Confirm. A confirmation pop-up will appear.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the reboot.
  6. Navigate to MANAGEMENT SETTINGS and click status.
  7. On the STATUS page, verify the operating region and country for confirmation.

Note: To establish a wireless connection between devices, ensure they are set to the same operating frequency in their radio settings. The Shared Passphrase must be identical for all devices within the same network.

The Cisco URWB IW9167EH Configurator interface displays various settings, including device details, wired and wireless interface configurations, and management settings. The Wireless Settings section shows the Operating region and Country, for example, 'ROW' and 'GB' (Great Britain).

Support for Fixed Domains and Country Codes (ROW)

The ROW region domain simplifies the management of manufacturing processes for country codes that do not have a specific domain mapped. The following tables detail the fixed domain and country code support for Cisco Catalyst IW9167E, IW9165E, and IW9165D access points.
