User's Manual

Model Series: TT PRO EC

Manufacturer: VENTS

Website: www.ventilation-system.com

Brief Description

The VENTS TT PRO EC is a mixed-flow inline fan designed for supply or exhaust ventilation in premises, particularly those heated during winter. It is suitable for connection to air ducts with diameters ranging from 100 mm to 315 mm. The fan features an energy-efficient, high-performance electronically commutated (EC) motor with a built-in speed controller. An external control unit can be connected for enhanced functionality (purchased separately). The design is subject to continuous improvement, so minor variations may exist between models.

Safety Precautions and General Information

This user's manual is intended for technical, maintenance, and operating staff. It provides essential information on the purpose, technical details, operating principle, design, and installation of the TT PRO EC unit.

Technical and maintenance personnel must possess theoretical and practical training in ventilation systems and adhere to workplace safety rules, construction norms, and applicable national standards.

  • All user manual requirements and applicable local/national construction, electrical, and technical norms must be observed during installation and operation.
  • Always disconnect the unit from the power supply before any connection, servicing, maintenance, or repair operations.
  • Installation is restricted to qualified electricians with a work permit for electrical units up to 1000 V.
  • Read this manual carefully before commencing any work.
  • Inspect the unit for visible damage to the impeller, casing, and grille before installation. Ensure the casing internals are free from foreign objects that could damage the impeller blades.
  • Avoid compressing the casing during mounting, as deformation can lead to motor jam and excessive noise.
  • Misuse and unauthorized modifications are strictly prohibited.
  • Do not expose the unit to adverse atmospheric agents (rain, sun, etc.).
  • Transported air must be free of dust, solid impurities, sticky substances, or fibrous materials.
  • Do not use the unit in hazardous or explosive environments (e.g., containing spirits, gasoline, insecticides).
  • Ensure intake and extract vents are not closed or blocked to maintain efficient airflow.
  • Do not sit on the unit or place objects on it.
  • The manufacturer reserves the right to modify technical characteristics, design, or configuration to incorporate technological advancements.
  • Never touch the unit with wet or damp hands or when barefoot.
  • This unit is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, unless supervised by a responsible adult.
  • Children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with the unit.
  • Connection to the mains must be via a disconnecting device integrated into the fixed wiring system, compliant with wiring rules and providing full disconnection under overvoltage category III conditions.
  • If the supply cord or cord set is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.
  • CAUTION: To prevent hazards from inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, the unit must not be supplied through an external switching device (like a timer) or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on/off by the utility.
  • Ensure the unit is switched off from the mains before removing the guard.
  • Take precautions to prevent the back-flow of gases into the room from open flues of gas or other fuel-burning appliances.
  • DISPOSAL: THE PRODUCT MUST BE DISPOSED SEPARATELY AT THE END OF ITS SERVICE LIFE. DO NOT DISPOSE THE UNIT AS UNSORTED DOMESTIC WASTE.

Operation Guidelines

  • The fan is rated for connection to single-phase AC 220-240 V/50 (60) Hz power mains.
  • It is designed for continuous operation.
  • Ensure the air motion direction in the system matches the pointer on the fan casing.
  • Hazardous parts access and water ingress protection rating is IPX4.
  • Operating ambient temperature range: +1 °C to +40 °C.
  • Transported air temperature must not exceed +40 °C. A temperature up to +60 ° C is allowed for a short time (up to 15 minutes).
  • The ventilator is rated as a Class II electric appliance.

Designation Key

The fan model designation follows a specific structure:

TT PRO: Fan model series.

[Diameter]: Outlet duct diameter in millimeters (e.g., 100, 125, 150, 160, 200, 250, 315).

EC: Motor type (Electronically Commutated motor).

[Option]: Indicates additional features:

  • U: Speed controller with an electronic thermostat and an air duct temperature sensor; temperature-based operation logic.
  • Un: Speed controller with an electronic thermostat and an outdoor temperature sensor on a 4m cord; temperature-based operation logic.
  • P: Integrated smooth speed controller.

To comply with ErP 2018 regulations, a local demand controller may be required.

Installation

The fan can be mounted horizontally or vertically on the floor, wall, or ceiling (refer to Fig. 1). To enhance protection against water ingress:

  1. For top mounting, install an outer protecting hood above the fan (refer to Fig. 2).
  2. For any mounting position, connect an air duct to both sides of the fan (refer to Fig. 2).

The mounting sequence is illustrated in Figures 3-8. Wiring diagrams are shown in Figures 9-11, 13-14 (fan wiring) and Figures 9, 10, 12-14 (external control unit wiring). The main fan wiring diagram is presented in Figure 15.

Operation Algorithm

The fan motor is controlled via an external 0-10V signal to the X2 terminal block or by the R1 internal speed controller. The control method is selected using the SW DIP switch:

  • DIP switch in IN position: The control signal is managed by the R1 internal speed controller. This allows the fan to be turned on/off and its speed (airflow) to be smoothly adjusted from minimum to maximum. Rotations are controlled from minimum (extreme right position) to maximum (extreme left position). Clockwise rotation decreases speed.
  • DIP switch in EXT position: The control signal is managed by the S1 external control unit.

The TT PRO EC U (Un) fan models feature an electronic module TSC (speed controller with electronic thermostat) for automatic fan speed control based on air temperature. The terminal compartment includes two control knobs:

  • Presetting speed
  • Setting electric thermostat threshold value

A thermostat operation indicator is located on the fan cover.

To set the thermostat threshold, rotate the thermostat control knob clockwise to increase or counter-clockwise to decrease the temperature set point. To adjust the fan speed (airflow), rotate the speed control knob similarly.

CAUTION! In case of short-term electrostatic disturbances, the TT PRO EC U (Un) fan may stop. To restore operation, turn the fan off and on using the speed controller on the fan casing.

Maintenance

Clean the product surfaces regularly (every 6 months) from dust and dirt (refer to Fig. 18-21). Disconnect the fan from the power mains before any maintenance. Use a soft cloth or a brush dampened with a mild detergent solution for cleaning. Avoid water ingress to electrical components. Wipe the unit surfaces dry after cleaning.
