Aquastrong Instruction Manual
Submersible Utility Pump
Models: ESU050PM, ESU100PM
1. Introduction
These operating instructions are provided to help users operate this pump safely and effectively. It is important to read these instructions carefully before use and pay close attention to all safety warnings.
This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or instructed on the safe use of the appliance and understand the associated hazards. Children should not play with the appliance, and cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
These instructions are intended for individuals with basic technical knowledge of pump operation. Inexperienced users are advised to seek guidance from an experienced person before operating the pump.
Keep all supplied documents with the pump for future reference and retain proof of purchase for warranty claims. The pump must not be sold or lent without these operating instructions and other accompanying documents. The pump must be connected to a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA.
2. Caution
The manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting from the non-observance of operating or safety instructions.
Danger! Risk of personal injury or damage to the environment.
! Risk of electric shock!
Note: Additional information.
Caution! Risk of material damage.
Meaning of crossed-out wheeled dustbin: Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste; use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information on available collection systems. Improper disposal can lead to hazardous substances leaking into groundwater and the food chain, potentially harming health and well-being.
When replacing old appliances, the retailer is legally obligated to take back the old appliance for disposal, free of charge.
Range of Application and Pumping Media
This pump is designed for pumping clear water in domestic applications, such as for containers, sumps, and flooded basements. Its special design allows for pumping down to a very low water level, for circulation to prevent stagnation, and for feeding decorative water features.
Caution! The maximum permissible fluid temperature is 96°F (35°C). Pumping liquids containing abrasives (like sand) will reduce the pump's service life.
3. Safety
Specified Conditions of Use
This pump must not be used for drinking water or foodstuff. Do not pump explosive, flammable, aggressive fluids, or substances harmful to health. This equipment is not suitable for commercial or industrial use. Any other use is considered improper and may cause unforeseeable damage. Alterations to the machine or the use of unapproved parts are prohibited.
General Safety Instructions
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety.
- Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Always pull the plug, not the power cable, to unplug.
- Ensure the plug connection to an extension cable is in an area safe from flooding.
- The pump must be supplied through an RCD with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA.
- Use extension cables with sufficient cross-section and unroll cable reels completely.
- Protect power and extension cables from damage, sharp edges, and do not buckle, squeeze, drag, or drive over them.
- Position extension cables so they do not come into contact with the fluid being pumped.
Attention: Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. Observe all local regulations for the safe operation of submersible pumps.
The following residual risks exist and cannot be fully eliminated:
Hazard generated by ambient conditions! Do not use the pump in hazardous locations or near flammable liquids and gases!
Danger! Risk of electric shock! If the appliance or supply cord is damaged, it must be repaired by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a qualified person. Leakage of lubricants could pollute the liquid.
Unplug: Before all servicing.
Danger! Risk of electric shock!
- Before each use, check the pump, power cable, plug, and float switch for damage.
- A damaged pump must be professionally repaired before reuse.
- Do not attempt to repair the pump yourself. Only trained specialists are permitted to service or repair pumps.
4. Prior to Operation
Installation
- The pump should not be submerged deeper than 13 ft (if the power cable is 19 ft).
- Place the pump so the suction inlet is not blocked by foreign objects. Use a base if necessary.
- Ensure sufficient upright stability.
5. Installation
Hose connections
Note: A larger connecting pipe diameter results in greater water flow.
Connections:
- 3/4" NPT
- 1" NPT
- 1-1/4"
- 1-1/2" NPT
Caution! Do not lift the pump by the cable or discharge hose, as they are not designed to support the pump's weight.
- Submerge the pump at an angle to prevent an air cushion from forming, which could hinder priming. Once submerged, it can be set upright.
- Lower the pump to the bottom of the fluid container using a strong rope attached to the cable eye.
- The pump can also be operated while suspended by a rope.
6. Care and Maintenance
Danger! Prior to all servicing: Switch Off. Unplug.
Service and repair work beyond what is described here must be performed by qualified specialists.
Periodic maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the pump's optimal performance. This is also important if the pump is used under demanding conditions or remains idle for extended periods (e.g., in well drains).
PS: For permanent installations, ensure the installation site is clear of sludge and pebbles before installing the pump. Placing the pump on a solid base is recommended.
Yearly service
- Check the pump casing and cables for damage.
- Rinse the pump with clean water. Remove stubborn dirt, such as algae deposits, using brushes and dishwashing liquid.
- To flush the pump's interior, place it in a container of clean water and briefly switch it ON.
Pump storage
Caution! Frost can damage the pump and accessories as they always contain water!
- If there is a risk of freezing, remove the pump and accessories and store them in a frost-proof location.
Before maintenance
WARNING! Electric shock! Risk of injury due to electric shock. Disconnect the product from the mains before performing maintenance.
7. Trouble Shooting
Malfunction | Cause Investigation | Treatment Measures |
---|---|---|
The pump does not deliver water. |
|
|
The water outlet valve does not start when it is closed and reopened. | Check whether the check valve is blocked. | Reinstall the check valve to ensure there is no blockage. |
The flow becomes smaller. |
|
|
In the state of the water level when the switch is turned on, the pump will stop after working for a period. | Check whether the fluid density or temperature is too high, causing the motor to overheat. The thermal overload protection device may be activated. | Check fluid density and temperature. Allow the pump to cool down. |
The motor does not start and there is no noise. |
|
|
Pump runs, but the output suddenly decreases. | Suction base is clogged. | Clean the suction base. |
If in doubt, please contact the Aquastrong Service Team by email.
