Get to know your computer
Appearance
The computer features a display (1), fingerprint power button (2), recessed camera (3), camera indicator (4), speakers (5), and a touchpad (6).
The sides of the computer feature a USB-C port (7), charging indicator (8), HDMI port (9), headset jack (10), and a USB-A port (11).
The bottom of the computer has a camera drainage hole (12) and a microphone (13).
Powering on and off
To power on for the first time, connect the power adapter. The computer will power on automatically. To power on or wake the computer when it is off, press the Power button until the screen or keyboard lights up.
To sleep, shut down, or restart the computer, click the Start menu icon ?, then the power icon ⏻.
Caution: Pressing and holding the power button for approximately 10 seconds will force shutdown the computer. This may cause unsaved data to be lost.
Keyboard
Keyboard keys may vary depending on the device model.
Shortcut keys (Hotkeys)
- F1: Decrease screen brightness. ?
- F2: Increase screen brightness. ?
- F3: Enable, disable, or adjust keyboard backlight brightness.
- F4: Mute or unmute microphone. ?
- F5: Decrease volume. ?
- F6: Increase volume. ?
- F7: Enable or disable microphone. ?
- F8: Switch projection mode. ?️
- F9: Enable or disable Wi-Fi. ?
- F10: Open PC Manager.
Switching between shortcut and function key modes:
- Press the Fn key to switch between function key mode (indicator lights up) and shortcut key mode (indicator turns off).
- To set F keys as function keys by default, go to Settings > System Settings in PC Manager and enable Function key priority.
Touchpad
The touchpad provides mouse-like functionality for controlling the computer. Not all gestures are available in all apps.
Common touchpad gestures:
- Tap with one finger: Left-click. ?
- Tap twice with one finger: Double-click. ??
- Slide with one finger: Move the cursor. ?➡️
- Press the left touchpad button: Left-click. ?️
- Press the right touchpad button: Right-click. ?️
- Tap with two fingers: Right-click. ??
- Slide up or down with two fingers: Scroll up or down. ??➡️⬆️⬇️
- Pinch in or stretch out with two fingers: Zoom in or out. ???
- Tap with three fingers: Open search. ???
- Slide up with three fingers: See all open windows. ???➡️⬆️
- Slide down with three fingers: Show the desktop. ???➡️⬇️
- Slide left or right with three fingers: Switch between open windows. ???➡️⬅️
- Tap with four fingers: Open action center. ????
Modify touchpad settings:
- Click the Start menu ? > Settings ⚙️ to open Settings.
- On the Settings screen, click Touchpad ?, then click to configure: Enable/disable touchpad, automatic enable/disable with mouse connection, change scroll direction, configure gestures.
Charging the computer
The computer will prompt when the battery is low. Connect the power adapter to charge.
The computer features a non-removable rechargeable battery. It charges faster when powered off or in Sleep mode.
Safety information for charging:
- Charge at room temperature in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
- Charging duration varies based on ambient temperature and battery use.
- It is normal for the computer to become warm during use or charging. If it becomes hot, disable non-essential features and disconnect the charger.
- Batteries wear over time. If standby time decreases significantly, contact a Huawei authorized service center for assistance.
Battery status:
- Battery icon in the taskbar indicates charge status.
- Charging: ? (Blinks white when charging, steady white when fully charged). Click to view estimated charging time.
- Not charging: ? (Click to view battery percentage and time).
Charging time and remaining battery life are estimates and may vary.
Getting started
Step 1: Connecting to a network
Click the network icon ? in the lower right corner of the desktop. Select a Wi-Fi network and follow the instructions.
Step 2: Activating Windows
Windows activates automatically upon connecting to the Internet. Check activation status via Start menu ? > Settings ⚙️ > Update & Security > Activation.
If activation fails, restart the computer, connect to the network, and try again. If issues persist, try a different network or wait.
Note: Some features may be restricted if Windows is not activated.
Step 3: Enrolling a fingerprint
If you skipped fingerprint enrollment during initial setup, go to Start menu ? > Settings ⚙️ > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello Fingerprint, and follow the instructions.
Tip: Ensure fingertips are clean and dry for accurate enrollment. Each user can enroll up to 10 fingerprints.
Step 4: Updating the drivers
Manage drivers in PC Manager. Follow instructions to complete available updates.
Regularly check and update drivers to improve computer stability and performance.
Highlighted features
Huawei Share
Huawei Share allows you to project a virtual version of your phone on the laptop, control apps, and transfer files. It also enables Multi-Screen Collaboration for accessing phone apps, answering calls, and sharing clipboards.
- Sharing Files: Tap your phone on the computer to share files. Shake your phone to record the computer screen.
- Sync Data: Copy content between phone and computer via a shared clipboard. Updated files can be synced automatically.

Performance Mode
Performance Mode optimizes performance but may increase fan noise and heat dissipation. Battery life may decrease in power-intensive scenarios. This is normal.
To enable/disable Performance Mode:
- Press Fn + P keys simultaneously. An indicator will show if Performance Mode is enabled or disabled.
- Open PC Manager and select Performance Mode. An indicator will display the status.
Note: Performance Mode may automatically disable if the computer is disconnected from power, battery is below 20%, or in idle/hibernation mode. Re-enable as needed.
Eye Comfort mode
Enable Eye Comfort mode for prolonged use to prevent eye strain. Right-click desktop > Eye Comfort mode.
The screen will have a slightly yellow hue when enabled.
F10 factory reset (not available in some regions)
This feature restores the computer to its initial or factory state.
Caution: All data on the C drive will be deleted. Back up data before proceeding.
This feature may not be available in all countries and regions.
To perform a factory reset:
- Connect the computer to the power adapter. Press the Power button, then press F10 multiple times or hold it to access the restore screen.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Learn about Windows 10
Using the Start menu
The Start menu provides access to apps, settings, and files. Click the Windows icon ? to open it.
- User account: Click user icon to change, lock, or sign out.
- Folders: Click icons to access Documents or Pictures folders.
- Settings: Click ⚙️ to open Settings.
- Power options: Click ⏻ to sleep, shut down, or restart.
- App list: Scroll to view all apps and programs.
- Search box: Enter terms to search for files or apps.
- Pinned tiles: Pin favorite apps or websites and organize them into groups.
Action center
The Action center displays notifications and provides quick actions for settings. Click the notification icon ? in the lower right corner.
- Quickly access Settings, projection options, and more.
- Access frequently used settings like Battery saver, Flight mode, and screen brightness.

Accessories and extensions
MateDock (optional)
The MateDock connects your computer to external devices like projectors, TVs, and USB drives. It is an optional accessory sold separately.
Getting to know HUAWEI MateDock 2:
- USB-C cable: Connects to the computer's USB-C port.
- USB-A port: Connects to USB devices (mouse, keyboard, USB drive, network adapter).
- HDMI port: Connects to HDMI displays (TVs).
- VGA port: Connects to VGA displays (monitors).
- USB-C port: Connects to USB-C devices.
Connecting a TV, monitor, or projector
Connect your computer to an external display for movies or presentations. You will need a HDMI or VGA cable in addition to the MateDock.
Note: Check the external display's port type before connecting. HDMI and VGA ports cannot be used simultaneously.
Steps:
- Connect the computer to the TV, monitor, or projector using the MateDock.
- Connect the external display to a power supply and turn it on.
- Press the F8 key (in hotkey mode) or click the projection icon in the lower right corner to open projection options. Select a projection mode:
- PC screen only: Displays on the computer only.
- Duplicate: Duplicates the display on both the computer and external display.
- Extend: Extends the desktop to the external display, allowing items to be moved between screens.
- Second screen only: Displays on the external display only.
Connecting a USB mouse, printer, or other device
Use the USB-A port on the MateDock to connect USB devices.
Connecting a USB device:
- Connect the device's USB cable to the USB-A port on the MateDock.
- If the device requires power, connect it before powering it on.
- The computer will automatically install necessary drivers upon first connection.
Viewing connected devices:
- Click the Start menu ?.
- Click Settings ⚙️ > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices to view connected devices.
Bluetooth mouse (optional)
The Huawei Bluetooth mouse connects wirelessly via Bluetooth. Pair it with the computer to use.
Getting to know the Bluetooth mouse:
The Bluetooth mouse is an optional accessory sold separately.
- 1: Left button
- 2: Scroll wheel + Middle button
- 3: Right button
- 4: LED indicator (blinks red for low battery)
- 5: Sensor
- 6: Power/Bluetooth pairing switch
Install the battery:
Remove the battery cover, insert one AA battery (observing +/- signs), and close the cover.
Pairing the Bluetooth mouse with the computer:
- Toggle the Bluetooth pairing switch on the mouse for approximately 3 seconds until the indicator blinks.
- On the computer, click Start menu ? > Settings ⚙️ > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Click '+' to add a Bluetooth device, then select the Huawei mouse from the list.
FAQs
Power button does not work
Problem: Computer does not power on unless the power button is held.
Cause: The integrated fingerprint sensor requires sufficient time to read the fingerprint.
Solution: Press and hold the power button until the screen or keyboard lights up.
Blue screen, blank screen, or flashing screen after updating Windows
Problem: Display issues after a Windows update.
Cause: Incompatible Windows version, drivers, or third-party software.
Solution:
- Open PC Manager and install driver updates.
- If non-official apps are installed, use official channels or replace them.
- If issues persist, connect to power, press the Power button, and hold F10 to access the restore screen for a factory reset. (Back up data first; feature availability varies by region).
- If problems continue after a factory reset, back up data and contact a Huawei Customer Service Center.
Computer is hot and fan is loud
Problem 1: Fan spins loudly and computer heats up upon first internet connection.
Cause: Windows system updates running in the background.
Solution: Wait for updates to complete; fan speed and temperature will normalize.
Problem 2: Fan spins loudly and computer heats up during charging.
Cause: CPU, charging module, and other components consume more power.
Solution: Close unnecessary apps. Use PC Manager to check CPU power consumption. If higher than 3W, try these methods:
- Use Balanced power mode: Go to Settings ⚙️ > System > Power & Sleep > Additional power settings, and adjust settings for display and sleep.
- End high CPU usage processes: Right-click taskbar > Task Manager. On the Processes tab, sort by CPU usage. Right-click non-system processes with high usage and select End task.
- Open PC Manager and install available driver updates.
Problem 3: Fan spins loudly and computer heats up even with few apps open.
Cause: Third-party apps configured to run at login, connecting to the internet in the background.
Solution: Open Task Manager, sort by CPU usage, and end unnecessary non-system processes.
Unable to connect to Wi-Fi
Problem: Wi-Fi icon is missing in the taskbar.
Cause: Incompatible Wi-Fi driver from Windows update or third-party app.
Solution: Navigate to C:\Windows\OriginalDriver\WifiDriver and run the installer.
Unable to connect to Bluetooth device
Problem: Bluetooth device not found in discovered devices list.
Cause: Interference from too many nearby Bluetooth devices, or the device is already connected to another device.
Solution:
- Ensure the Bluetooth device is on and discoverable (refer to device manual for instructions).
- To add a Bluetooth device: Click Start menu ? > Settings ⚙️ > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Click '+' to add, then select the Huawei mouse.

- Maintain a distance of 15 cm between the device and a pacemaker. Hold the device on the opposite side of the pacemaker and do not carry it in your front pocket.
Protecting your hearing when using a headset
- Avoid listening at high volume levels for long periods to prevent hearing damage.
- Lower headset volume to a safe level.
- High volumes while driving can cause distraction and increase accident risk.
Areas with flammables and explosives
Do not use the device in areas with flammables or explosives (e.g., gas stations, oil depots). Follow instructions indicated by text or symbols.
Do not store or transport devices with flammable liquids, gases, or explosives.
Traffic security
- Observe traffic laws. Do not use your wireless device while driving.
- Concentrate on driving.
- RF signals may affect vehicle electronic systems. Consult the vehicle manufacturer.
Do not place the device over or in an air bag deployment area in a motor vehicle.
Do not use wireless devices where prohibited by airline regulations.
Operating environment
- Avoid dusty, damp, or dirty environments. Avoid magnetic fields.
- Do not use during thunderstorms.
- Ideal operating temperatures: 0 °C to 35 °C. Ideal storage temperatures: -10 °C to +45 °C.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Avoid rain and moisture.
- Keep away from heat sources (heaters, stoves, candles).
- If the device overheats, stop using it. Prolonged skin contact may cause low-temperature burns.
- Do not allow children or pets to bite or suck the device.
- Observe local laws and respect privacy and legal rights.
Child's safety
- Children playing with the device may be dangerous due to detachable parts (choking hazard). Keep away from children.
- Children should use the device only with adult supervision.
Accessories
Using unapproved accessories may cause fire, explosion, or other hazards. Choose only manufacturer-approved accessories. Using other types may void the warranty and be dangerous. Contact your retailer for approved accessories.
Charger safety
- Ensure the socket-outlet is near the device and accessible.
- Unplug the charger when not in use.
- Do not drop or impact the charger.
- If the power cable is damaged, stop using it immediately.
- Do not touch the power cord or device with wet hands.
- Ensure the charger meets relevant safety standards (e.g., IEC60950-1).
- Connect the device only to products with the USB-IF logo or compliance.
Battery safety
- Do not connect battery poles with conductive materials.
- Keep the battery away from heat and direct sunlight.
- Do not attempt to modify, puncture, or immerse the battery in liquids.
- If the battery leaks, flush affected skin/eyes with water and consult a doctor.
- If the battery shows deformation, color change, or overheating, stop use and remove the battery.
- Do not expose batteries to fire; they may explode.
- Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
- Do not allow children or pets to bite or suck the battery.
- Do not smash or pierce the battery.
Cleaning and maintenance
- Keep the device and accessories dry. Do not use external heat sources for drying.
- Do not expose to extreme heat or cold.
- Avoid collisions.
- Before cleaning, stop using the device, close applications, and disconnect cables.
- Do not use chemical detergents or agents. Use a clean, soft, dry cloth.
- Keep magnetic stripe cards away from the device.
- Do not dismantle or remanufacture the device or accessories. Contact a Huawei authorized service center for assistance with damage.
- If the screen is broken, stop use and contact a Huawei authorized service center.
