Matrx Hug Headrest Pads and Inserts User Manual

Product Overview

The Matrx® Hug Headrest Pads are designed to provide effective posterior head support while maintaining optimal comfort and positioning. The Hug Headrest is plush, hypoallergenic, and lightweight, featuring a StaminaFiber® filled pad/insert. The inserts are quilted to keep the filling in place, are breathable for user comfort, and are fully machine washable for easy cleaning and disinfection. The Hug insert fits onto an aluminum headrest backing plate that can be shaped for maximum comfort. Outer covers are available in standard Startex™ fabric or an optional infection control (-IC) fabric. All covers are moisture-resistant and breathable and can be removed for laundering.

The product complies with the EU Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 for medical products (Class I).

Warranty

Manufacturers warranty is provided in accordance with General Terms and Conditions of Business in respective countries. Warranty claims must be made through the provider from whom the device was purchased.

Service Life

The expected service life of this product is three years when used in accordance with safety instructions and intended use. The effective service life can vary depending on frequency and intensity of use.

*Note: Hug Inserts are available as replacement to the molded green foam inside the corresponding Elan Headrest Pad.

Installation Instructions (Hug Insert)

NOTE: The Hug Insert may be installed as a replacement to the green foam pad in Matrx® Elan Headrests. Prior to installation, remove the existing outer headrest cover, then carefully remove the molded green foam pad from the headrest mounting plate.

1. Carefully install the hug insert (pad) (1) onto the headrest mounting plate (2). The rear flaps on the hug insert can be stretched to fit around the headrest mounting plate.
2. Ensure the insert/pad is properly fitted and centered on the headrest mounting plate (3), then re-install the outer headrest cover and close the zippers (4).

Installation of Headrest Pad:

1. Place the headrest mounting collar onto the pivot ball in the headrest mounting accessories (1).
2. Align/fix the mounting collar to the headrest pad (2) using the mounting screws (x3).

IMPORTANT! After installation or adjustment, each screw must be tightened uniformly to avoid the risk of cross-threading and to ensure the mounting collar is securely attached to the headrest pad.

Care and Maintenance

Inspection

WARNING! Risk of injury or damage

• Do not continue to use this product if problems or damage are discovered. Corrective maintenance can be performed or arranged through your service provider.
• Frequent visual inspection of all components, including upholstery materials, foams (if accessible), and any hardware or plastics, should be performed to identify any breakage, deformation, punctures, wear and tear, or compression. Replace damaged/worn components if necessary.

Cleaning and Disinfection of Covers

ATTENTION! Risk of damage

To avoid infectious exposure, inspect the cushion thoroughly and properly clean and disinfect any materials soiled with blood or other bodily fluids.

CAUTION! Risk of damage

• DO NOT use cleaning and disinfecting agents with abrasive, staining, or polymer-damaging properties such as phenols, alcohols, or bleaches. Chlorine solutions used regularly, even in low concentrations, can diminish the cover's lifespan.
• Chosen cleaning agents and disinfectants must be compatible with one another to effectively protect the materials on which they are applied.
• Keep clear of open heat sources during cleaning.
• DO NOT use fabric softener when laundering the Hug insert.

Machine Laundering Instructions (Cover and Hug Insert)

Headrest Cover:

The outer cover can be removed and cleaned in a washing machine. Carefully unzip the outer cover from the foam pad. To avoid possible damage to the cover, the zipper should be closed prior to laundering. Ensure covers do not come into contact with any sharp garment accessories. Wash at a warm temperature not higher than 60°C (140°F), using neutral detergents such as Tide or Persil.

Hug Insert:

The Hug Insert (quilted pad) can be removed and cleaned in a washing machine on a gentle cycle. Unzip and remove the outer cover from the Hug Headrest, then carefully remove the Hug Insert from the headrest mounting plate. To protect the integrity of the quilted insert/pad, ensure it does not come into contact with any other sharp garment accessories. Wash at a warm temperature not higher than 60°C (140°F), using neutral detergents such as Tide or Persil.

Drying

Headrest Cover:

Adequate drying is crucial for cover care. Covers should be completely dried before use. Air drying is the preferred method. DO NOT WRING OUT. Hang the cover and allow it to drip dry to minimize wrinkling. Alternatively, covers may be tumble-dried on a low/cool setting. Cushion covers should not be ironed or pressed.

Polyurethane (PU) coated fabrics can absorb liquids for short periods, causing a temporary change to the PU characteristics. The wet cover is more vulnerable to physical damage and should not be used until fully dried.

Hug Insert:

The Hug Insert contains non-absorbent, fast-drying StaminaFiber® material. Air drying is the preferred method. Hang the Hug Insert and allow it to drip dry. Alternatively, the Hug Inserts may be tumble-dried on a low/cool setting. Hug Inserts should not be ironed or pressed.
