Roller Shutter Description
The ARZ Z-Wave M roller shutter is designed for installation on roof windows and is adapted for cooperation with Z-Wave remote control system elements, with frequencies varying by region.
The ARZ Z-Wave M roller shutter features the following protections:
- Electronic limit switch: Activates when the roller shutter armour is fully unrolled or rolled up.
- Current limiting: Protects against damage in case of an obstacle or when operating a snow-covered roller shutter at low temperatures.
The roller shutter's functionality allows for a percentage read of its current position (0-100%) via the controller with an indicator.
To operate the roller shutter, it must be installed following the picture installation instructions included in the product packaging and assigned to a Z-Wave controller. The controller must be purchased separately.

Important Information
Please read the following instructions carefully before installation to prevent electric shock, injury, etc. Observe the following recommendations when installing the electrically operated roller shutter:
- After unpacking, check the roller shutter elements for any signs of mechanical damage.
- Installation should be performed by a qualified person in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
- Before connecting the roller shutter, ensure the power supply corresponds with the motor voltage specified on the data plate.
- Take the roller shutter out of the packaging, place it in a flat position, and connect it using the 2-wire cable (15V DC). Check its correct operation with one working cycle using the manual control button.
- Plastic containers used for packing should be stored out of children's reach as they may be a potential source of danger.
- The roller shutter should be used according to its intended design. FAKRO shall not be responsible for any consequences resulting from improper roller shutter use.
- Any activities related to cleaning, adjustment, or dismantling the roller shutter should be preceded by disconnecting the power supply.
- The roller shutter cannot be washed using solvent-based substances or a direct stream of water (do not immerse it in water).
- Any repairs of the roller shutter should be carried out by authorized service personnel.
- The roller shutter is intended for outdoor installation.
- In the event of adverse weather conditions (frost, snow), operation of the roller shutter may not be possible.
- The roller shutter is factory calibrated. If recalibration is necessary, it must be performed manually or via a remote control as described in the "Roller Shutter Programming" section.
Note: A Z-Wave controller can be a remote control, module, wall switch, or internet gateway.
Connection Diagram
A wiring diagram illustrates the connection of the FAKRO ARZ Z-Wave M roller shutter motor to a 15V DC power supply unit (MW LPV-60-15). It shows the power supply unit with input terminals for AC power (L, N) and output terminals for DC power (+, -), connected via colored wires (Blue, Brown, Red) to the shutter's motor.
Control Panel
An illustration shows the roller shutter's control interface, featuring a close-up view of the integrated control buttons and status LEDs. Key indicators identified are: Z-Wave Network Status LED, Programming Button ?️, Motor Status LED, and Manual Control Button.
Z-Wave Network Status Signalling
- [P] Z-Wave Network Status LED: Blinking indicates the roller shutter is ready for Autoinclusion mode to be remotely added to the Z-Wave network. Run the adding procedure on the Z-Wave controller.
- [P] Z-Wave Network Status LED: Off indicates the roller shutter has been removed from the Z-Wave network. Remote control is not possible.
- [P] Z-Wave Network Status LED: On indicates the roller shutter is assigned to the Z-Wave network, and remote control is possible. If it's off, check power supply or connection.
Programming
For programming information, refer to the user manual of the controller used to operate the roller shutter.
Available Functions via Controller:
- ADD TO NETWORK
- ADD TO GROUP
- REMOVE FROM NETWORK
- REMOVE FROM GROUP
- etc.
Run the selected function on the Z-Wave controller.
Methods for Adding to Network:
- METHOD 1 (Autoinclusion): The Autoinclusion procedure has been started. The roller shutter will be automatically added to the Z-Wave network. This method allows adding a hard-to-access roller shutter remotely without pressing the programming button. Each time power is switched on, the roller shutter enters Autoinclusion mode (active for up to 10 minutes) if it's not already assigned to a Z-Wave network.
- METHOD 2: Press the ?️ button on the roller shutter.
Manual Control
Operate the roller shutter by pressing the manual control button:
- Start: Initiates movement.
- Stop: Halts movement.
- Start in opposite direction: Reverses movement.
Manual Calibration
The roller shutter is factory calibrated. The calibration process can be repeated if necessary. If the roller shutter is not calibrated, control is only possible by holding the manual control button.
Calibration Steps:
- Hold the manual control buttons simultaneously until the manual control LED starts blinking.
- Hold the manual control button until the upper end position is reached. The roller shutter will overload and then retract by 1 cm.
- Accept the upper position by pressing the programming button (?️).
- Hold the manual control button until the lower position is reached. Then release the button.
- Accept the lower position by pressing the programming button (?️). The roller shutter is calibrated.
Additional Information
ALL ON / ALL OFF
Activating this function allows simultaneous control of all devices. This feature is available if supported by the controller.
Z-Wave Devices Compatibility
Z-Wave technology enables the integration of devices from different manufacturers (e.g., lighting, heating, domestic automatic control). Z-Wave devices act as repeaters in the network, extending the communication range of radio waves.
This product is compatible with other certified Z-Wave devices from other manufacturers. All battery-free devices from different manufacturers operating within a single Z-Wave network can route through other devices, potentially increasing the range.
Note: Information on adding devices to the Z-Wave network via controllers from other manufacturers can be found in their respective user manuals.
Association Groups
- Life Line group: For reporting the roller shutter's position after each stop and receiving alarm information (overload). A maximum of 1 device can be in this group.
- Basic Repeat group: Used for sending received movement commands (BASIC SET) to devices in this group. A maximum of 5 devices can be in this group.
- Multilevel Repeat group: Used for sending received commands (SWITCH MULTILEVEL SET, SWITCH MULTILEVEL START LEVEL CHANGE, SWITCH MULTILEVEL STOP LEVEL CHANGE) to devices in these groups. A maximum of 5 devices can be in this group.
