Moshi Voice Controlled Talking Alarm Clock

User Instructions
When the clock is connected to the provided AC Adapter, the Voice Trigger mode is active. This enables you to use the command, "Hello Moshi" to identify the time, date, temperature, and much more. Ensure the switch labeled "Voice Trigger" is in the on position.
When using the clock on battery power, the voice trigger mode is disabled, and the screen must be pressed to activate all voice interactive commands.
This clock features four different alternating color backgrounds for speaking, listening, and temperature. The night light alternates in 6 colors.
Display color indicators:
- Red: Inside temperature is 90°F and above, or if a function is not working properly.
- Green: Inside temperature is between 70°F and 89°F, or when the clock is listening.
- Light Blue: Inside temperature is between 60°F and 69°F.
- Dark Blue: Inside temperature is 59°F and below, or when the clock is talking.
Activation List of Spoken Commands
To start using the clock with either the AC Adapter or batteries, begin your interaction with the clock by following these steps:
- Say "Hello Moshi". The clock will respond with: "Welcome, command please".
Use any of the following voice commands:
- "Time" – The clock will respond "the time is (current time)".
- "Set Time" – The clock will respond "tell me the current time". This command is used on first usage or after an error.
Example: Respond with the current time (e.g., "six o'clock pm"). The clock will confirm "the time is now set to six o'clock pm".
- "Alarm" – The clock will respond "the alarm is set to (alarm time)" and indicate if the alarm is on or off. It will then play the chosen alarm wake-up sound.
- "Set Alarm" – The clock will respond "tell me the time you want the alarm to sound". This is used on first usage or after an error.
Example: Respond with the desired alarm time (e.g., "seven thirty A.M."). The clock will respond "the alarm is now set to seven thirty A.M."
- "Alarm Sound" – The clock will respond "to choose an alarm sound, say 'alarm one' (chime), 'alarm two' (chirp), or 'alarm three' (bell)." Respond with your desired sound (e.g., "alarm one"). The clock will confirm the chosen alarm sound.
- "Turn off the Alarm" – During silences between alarm sounds, use this command to silence the alarm until the next day. The clock will respond "today is (current day, date, time and temperature)."
- "Sleep Sound" – The clock will respond "to choose a sleep sound, say 'sound one' (water), 'sound two' (birds), or 'sound three' (waterfall)." Respond with your desired sound (e.g., "sound one"). The clock will confirm the chosen sound. The clock can play 5 minutes of three different soothing sleep sounds.
- "Play Sleep Sounds" – Plays the current sleep sound programmed. Press the display to turn off the sleep sound.
- "Today's Date" – The clock will respond "today is (current date)."
- "Temperature" – The clock will respond "the temperature is (current inside temperature)."
- "Night Light" – This command turns the alternating colors of the night light on and off.
- "Help" – The clock will respond with a list of available commands.
After saying "Hello Moshi", if you decide not to issue a command, simply say "cancel".
Alarm Sound/Snooze
The alarm begins at a low volume and gradually increases if not turned off. After 1 minute, the alarm will automatically snooze.
To turn off the alarm for the day, say "turn off the alarm" during the silences between alarm sounds.
If you press the screen when the alarm is sounding, the clock will respond "snooze time 9 minutes" and enter snooze mode. This occurs three times before the alarm stops sounding for the day.
To turn off snooze mode, say "Hello Moshi", wait for the clock to say "Welcome, command please", then say "turn off the alarm".
Manual Setting
To set the clock manually (time, alarm, date), use the buttons on the back of the clock: "Set", "Mode", "Up" (increase), and "Down" (decrease).
The back of the clock has four buttons and two switches. Their layout is as follows (from left to right):
- Down arrow Button
- Up Arrow Button
- Set Button
- Mode Button
- Interactive voice on/off switch
- Alarm on/off switch
By default, the Interactive voice and Alarm switches are in the "on" position.
To begin manual setting:
- Press the "Set" button (the clock will say the time).
- Press the "Mode" button to navigate to the desired mode (time, alarm, or date).
- Press the "Up" or "Down" button to adjust the value.
Note: The date and temperature unit (Fahrenheit or Celsius) must be set manually.
Example: Setting the current month, day, and year:
- Press the "Mode" button repeatedly until the date screen is displayed. (The default date is Jan 01, 2008.)
- Press the "Set" button. The clock will respond "today is Tuesday, Jan 01, 2008".
- Press the "Up" or "Down" button to change the year, then press "Set".
- The first digit for the month will flash. Press "Up" or "Down" to select the correct month. The clock will announce the months as you cycle through them. Press "Set" once the desired month is selected.
- The numbers for the day will flash. Press "Up" or "Down" to select the desired day.
- Press the "Set" button twice to confirm the date. The clock will announce the set date.
To set the temperature units to Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C):
Use the "temperature" voice command or press the display until the temperature is shown. Then, use the "Set" button on the back of the clock to toggle between Fahrenheit (F) and Celsius (C).
The manual alarm "On/Off" switch on the back of the clock can be moved to the "Off" position if you do not want the alarm to sound. Ensure the Alarm switch is set to the "On" position for the alarm and alarm voice commands to function.
To activate the clock, say "Hello Moshi" or press the display. The clock will respond "Welcome, command please." Speak commands in a normal voice, as if speaking to someone nearby. Avoid speaking simultaneously with the clock. Ambient noise may affect listening accuracy.
Battery Installation
Open the battery cover on the bottom of the clock. Insert 3 "AAA" batteries according to the polarity signs, ensuring the flat parts of the batteries align with the springs in the battery compartment.
If batteries are inserted correctly, the clock will begin operation automatically and display the default time of "12:00 am".
If the alarm sound is too quiet, the display is blurry, or no colored lights are visible when using battery power, please replace the batteries. Remember to reset the correct time, alarm, and date after replacing batteries.
Important Battery Notes:
- DO NOT mix old and new batteries.
- DO NOT mix alkaline, standard (carbon zinc), or rechargeable (nickel cadmium) batteries.
- Non-rechargeable batteries must not be recharged.
- Supply terminals must not be short-circuited.
When Using Rechargeable Batteries:
- Rechargeable batteries must be charged under adult supervision.
- Rechargeable batteries must be removed from the battery compartment before charging.
