Sony SLV-D500P/SLV-D300P: Note on Making Connections
Important Connection Information
To ensure optimal audio and video quality when connecting your Sony DVD&VCR (models SLV-D500P/SLV-D300P) to your television, please follow these guidelines. Avoid connecting both the DVD&VCR's LINE OUT VIDEO/AUDIO L/R outputs and the S-VIDEO OUT to the same TV input simultaneously.
For superior DVD image quality, it is recommended to connect the S-video output (S-VIDEO OUT) and the audio output for DVDs (LINE OUT AUDIO L/R) to separate inputs on your TV. For example, connect to LINE 2 on your television.
Correct Connection Example
This diagram illustrates the recommended method for connecting your DVD&VCR to your TV:
TV Rear Panel:
- Connect the supplied Audio/video cord to the INPUT 1 or INPUT 2.
- Connect the supplied Stereo audio cord (not supplied) to the audio input.
DVD-VCR Rear Panel:
- Connect the S-VIDEO cord (not supplied) to the S-VIDEO OUT.
- Connect the supplied Audio/video cord to the audio output.
The connection should route to the S-VIDEO OUT on the TV.
Incorrect Connection Example
This diagram shows a connection method that should be avoided:
TV Rear Panel:
- Connect the supplied Audio/video cord to the INPUT 1 or INPUT 2.
DVD-VCR Rear Panel:
- Connect the S-VIDEO cord (not supplied) to the S-VIDEO OUT.
- Connect the supplied Audio/video cord to the audio output.
Connecting both the DVD&VCR outputs (LINE OUT VIDEO/AUDIO L/R) and S-video output (S-VIDEO OUT) to the same TV input can result in suboptimal image quality.
