Important Safety Instructions

When using your iron, basic safety precautions should always be followed:

  • Read all instructions before using.
  • Only use iron for intended use.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or other liquids.
  • Always turn the iron to MIN setting before plugging in or unplugging from the outlet. Never pull on the cord to disconnect; grasp the plug and pull.
  • Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces. Let the iron cool completely before putting away. Loop the cord loosely around the iron heel and clip it with the provided plug clip when storing.
  • Always disconnect the iron from the electric outlet before filling or emptying water, cleaning, and when not in use.
  • Do not operate the iron if it has been dropped, shows signs of damage, or is leaking. Do not disassemble; take it to a qualified service person for examination and repair.
  • Close supervision is necessary for any appliance used by or near children. Do not leave the iron unattended when plugged in or on an ironing board.
  • Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when turning the iron upside down, as hot water may be present. Avoid rapid movements to minimize hot water spillage.
  • The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface. Ensure the surface where the iron rests is stable.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

Special Instructions

  • To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit.
  • If an extension cord is necessary, use a minimum 10-ampere cord. Cords rated for less amperage can result in fire or electrical shock due to overheating. Arrange the cord so it cannot be pulled or tripped over.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This product is for household use only.

Polarized Plug

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug.

Tamper-Resistant Screw

Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel. If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel or an authorized service center.

How to Use

This product is for household use only.

Getting Started

  • Remove any plastic bands, labels, tags, and stickers from the iron, cord, or soleplate.
  • Remove and save the literature.

Filling the Water Tank

  1. With the iron tilted at a 45° angle, open the water-fill cover.
  2. Using a clean measuring cup, pour water into the opening until it reaches the “MAX” level mark on the side of the water tank. Do not overfill. Close the water-fill cover securely.
  3. Stand the iron on the heel rest.
  4. To refill during ironing, unplug the iron and repeat the filling procedure.

Tip: This iron is designed for normal tap water. For very hard water, use a 50% tap water and 50% distilled water mixture to avoid build-up. Do not use water with perfumes or scented additives.

Using Your Iron

  1. Plug the iron into an outlet. The red Power/auto shut-off light will illuminate, indicating the iron is heating.
  2. Read the manufacturer's fabric label for clothing care recommendations to select the correct temperature setting.
  3. Select the temperature and steam level by turning the SmartSteam™ dial. A fabric guide is printed on the water tank for reference.
  4. Allow the iron about 2 minutes to heat up to the desired temperature.
  5. Iron as needed. The 3-Way Auto Shut Off Safety feature will activate if the iron is left inactive.
  6. When finished, turn the dial to MIN, unplug the iron, stand it on its heel rest, and allow it to cool completely before storing.

Tip: To dry iron on low heat, use SmartSteam™ settings 1–3. For high heat, empty the water tank and follow normal directions. If emptying the tank, you may need to press the Burst of Steam button a few times after preheating to fully empty it.

Additional Features

SmartSteam™ Technology

This technology provides control over soleplate heat and steam level with a single dial, simplifying the process of selecting the right settings for different fabrics.

Spray Mist

Press the Spray Mist button ? for a light spray of water to dampen tough wrinkles during dry or steam ironing. This works at any SmartSteam™ dial setting. Do not spray silk.

3-Way Auto Shut-Off

The iron automatically switches to Auto Shut-Off mode and stops heating after 30 seconds of inactivity on the soleplate or side, and 8 minutes on the heel rest. The red light on the handle will blink. Move the iron to resume ironing; the soleplate will automatically reheat to the selected temperature.

Cleaning and Care

This product contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer to qualified service personnel for service.

Cleaning Outside Surfaces

  1. Ensure the iron is unplugged and completely cooled.
  2. Wipe the soleplate and outer surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Mild household soaps like dishwashing liquid can be used. Never use abrasives, strong cleaners, vinegar, or scouring pads that may scratch or discolor the iron.
  3. After drying, turn the iron on and lightly steam over an old cloth to help remove any residue from the steam holes.
  4. When finished cleaning, turn off the iron and allow it to cool completely before storing.

Storing Your Iron

  1. Ensure the iron is set to MIN, unplugged, and completely cool.
  2. Empty the water tank by opening the fill cover and inverting the iron over a sink.
  3. Wrap the cord loosely around the heel of the iron and secure it with the integrated cord clip (C) or the plug clip (D).
  4. Always store the iron vertically on its heel to prevent water leakage from the soleplate.

Ironing Tips and Tricks

  • Use normal tap water. For very hard water, use a 50% tap water and 50% distilled water mixture. Do not use water with perfumes or scented additives.
  • To save time, iron garments requiring lower temperatures first, then those requiring higher temperatures, as irons take longer to cool than to heat up.
  • When changing temperature settings, allow the iron to stand for a minute or two to heat up or cool down. Test on a small, inconspicuous area of the garment to ensure the temperature is correct.
  • When ironing mixed fabrics, read the garment tag or select the setting for the most delicate fabric. For example, for a 65% cotton/35% polyester shirt, use the polyester setting.
  • If unsure of fabric content, test on a small area (inside seam or hem) before ironing the entire garment.
  • If water drips, the soleplate is not hot enough for steam. Allow the iron to reheat for a minute and resume ironing.
  • To prevent iron marks, iron the fabric inside out.
  • Allow clothes to cool for about 5 minutes after ironing to set the press and prevent new wrinkles.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Iron is plugged in, but the soleplate is not heating. Power supply issue. Check plug insertion into the outlet or try a different outlet.
Not enough steam or no steam coming out. SmartSteam™ setting is too low. Lower heat levels are not designed for steam. Turn the SmartSteam™ Dial to settings 4-6 for steam.
Not enough water in the water tank. Follow instructions under "Filling the Water Tank" and fill to MAX level.
Iron is not preheated. If not fully preheated, the anti-drip feature will prevent steam. Allow additional time for heating.
Discolored water is coming through holes and staining fabric. Residue build-up in soleplate cavity or holes. Empty the water tank after each use.
Use of descaling agents, perfumed or scented additives. Refrain from using descaling agents, perfumed or scented additives.
Use of Starch. Always clean soleplate after using starch and clean iron regularly.
Pure distilled water or softened water is being used. Use only untreated tap water or a 50/50 mix of tap and distilled water. Clean iron regularly.
