(6) Dashcam Operation Guide
A. Image Quality and PlatePix™ Timer
The default image quality is standard. PlatePix™ mode enhances license plate clarity, especially in low light. It can be scheduled to turn on/off.
Note: PlatePix™ mode may darken the overall image. Disable or schedule it in low light conditions.
B. Loop Recording
The dashcam automatically enters loop recording mode. Videos are saved in segments. When storage is full, new recordings overwrite the oldest ones. This ensures continuous recording.
Note: Ensure your SD card is fast enough for loop recording. Format the card periodically.
C. Emergency Recording
Manually or automatically lock recordings during critical events.
- Manual Lock: Press the emergency recording button to lock the current video and capture a photo.
- Automatic Lock: The dashcam automatically locks recordings upon detecting an emergency.
Locked recordings are saved in the 'Emergency Video' folder to prevent overwriting.
Note:
- The sensitivity of automatic locking depends on the G-sensor.
- Emergency videos are limited to 30% of the SD card capacity. New emergency videos will overwrite the oldest ones. Regularly back up emergency videos.
D. Parking Monitoring Mode and Settings
Customize parking monitoring settings based on your needs, vehicle, and environment.
- Detection Lens Settings
- Parking Low Light Night Vision
- Parking Collision Detection
- Motion Detection Area
Precautions for Parking Monitoring:
- Use a VANTRUE power cable or a stable power source for parking mode.
- Use the VANTRUE ACC power cable. Other brands may not be compatible.
- In hot weather, use collision detection mode. If the interior temperature exceeds 60°C (140°F), turn off the dashcam.
- Only one parking mode (collision detection, motion detection, low bitrate, low frame rate) can be active at a time.
- Parking mode recordings are saved in the 'Parking Video' folder. Check regularly to avoid overwriting.
- Parking monitoring settings are linked to the mode. Firmware updates may introduce new features.
E. Parking Mode Introduction
Parking modes are designed to meet different user needs.
- Entry Methods:
- After disconnecting the ACC power cable, the dashcam enters parking mode.
- The dashcam automatically enters parking mode after 5 minutes of vehicle inactivity.
- Choose the entry method based on your vehicle's power supply.
Mode 1: Collision Detection
When enabled, an icon appears on the screen. Sensitivity can be adjusted from 1 to 5.
When the G-sensor detects 5 minutes of inactivity (in collision detection mode), an icon appears, and the dashcam powers off. If the vehicle moves, the dashcam will turn on and record for 1 minute.
Note: Continuous collisions may cause the dashcam to exit collision detection mode and revert to normal recording.
Mode 2: Motion Detection
When enabled, a motion detection icon appears. Sensitivity can be set to low, medium, or high, with detection ranges of 2m, 4m, or 6m.
The dashcam supports pre-recording, capturing 10 seconds before the event for a total of 40 seconds of footage.
Adjust the detection lens and motion detection area for precise monitoring.
Mode 3: Low Bitrate Recording
When enabled, a low bitrate icon appears. Recording resolution can be set to 1080P 15FPS or 720P 15FPS.
Entry Method: Automatically enters low bitrate mode after the engine is turned off.
Note: This mode only works when the dashcam is powered on.
Mode 4: Low Frame Rate Recording
When enabled, recording frame rate can be set to 1FPS, 5FPS, 10FPS, or 15FPS.
Entry Method: Automatically enters low frame rate mode after the engine is turned off to save storage space.
Note: Requires a stable power supply. The dashcam will turn off if power is lost.
F. Voice Recognition
Control the dashcam with voice commands (snapshot, start/stop recording, WiFi control, etc.). Supports English, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, and French.
Refer to 'System Settings' > 'Voice Content' for detailed commands. Sensitivity can be adjusted.
G. Mileage Statistics
The dashcam records GPS data to analyze driving time, distance, altitude, and speed. Export this data via the APP.
In the APP preview, select start and end times, then download as PDF or JPG.
H. GPS Function
GPS automatically calibrates time and date and records location and speed for accurate data and evidence.
Note:
- GPS connection should be established within 1 minute of powering on. Check connections and environment if it fails.
- View GPS data in recorded videos using the Vantrue APP or player.
I. LTE Setup (Requires LTE Module)
Vantrue offers an LTE module for remote monitoring of parking status. Insert a SIM card into the module and connect it to the dashcam.
Customize LTE settings for message push, data usage limits, and upload quality.
J. GPS Auto Time Calibration
The N4PS dashcam automatically calibrates time via GPS. Select your time zone. If unsure, connect to the Vantrue APP via WiFi to confirm and sync the time.
Note: Ensure the correct time zone is set. Auto DST switching is limited to North America.
K. File Playback
Use the Vantrue Player for high-quality video playback. Download for Mac from the Apple App Store or for Windows from the Vantrue website (https://www.vantruecam.com/APP/index.html).
The player supports video playback, GPS track viewing, and speed display.
L. Recorder Upgrade
Upgrade Method 1: File Upgrade
Download the latest firmware from the VANTRUE website, place the file in the root directory of the memory card, insert the card, and power on the device to upgrade.
Upgrade Method 2: OTA Upgrade
When the APP detects a new firmware version, follow the prompts to download and install it.
OTA Upgrade Precautions:
- Ensure the dashcam is powered during the upgrade process.
