Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro
VS-DBC300-WHT
Quick Reference (User Manual — Installation & Operation)
Product Overview
The Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro (DBC) integrates with a Vivint Smart Home system to notify homeowners of visitors, whether they press the doorbell or not. Users can see and speak with visitors via the control panel and mobile apps. The camera offers live and recorded video, two-way audio, and an LED light ring indicating camera status. It is professionally installed and connects to the system via NFC, Wi-Fi Connect, or WPS. Additional features include night vision with IR LEDs, a 180° field of view, pinch-to-zoom video, and person-triggered or ring notifications.
Installation Instructions
Installation requires different steps depending on the presence of an existing doorbell. Vivint technicians should follow these steps carefully.
Scenario 1: Existing Doorbell
- Locate the chime box and remove the FRT and TRANS wires from screw terminals, keeping them separated.
- Verify the doorbell no longer has power.
- Detach the doorbell. If a wire is on the REAR terminal for a working doorbell, remove and cap it. If multiple chime boxes exist, locate and remove their FRT and TRANS wires.
Scenario 2: No Existing Doorbell
- Consult the homeowner to identify the best mounting location and the nearest interior unswitched power outlet.
- Drill a hole for wiring at the mounting location.
- Run 18/2 wire from the DBC to the power source. Use wire molding for wall or floorboard runs; do not use staples.
Pairing and Installation Steps
- Pair the camera: At the panel, navigate to Menu (...) > Software version > enter PIN 2203 > Smart Home devices > Cameras > Add camera.
- Tap NFC, then Add. Align the DBC logo with the panel's white light until pairing is complete.
- Mount the camera: Run wires through the back plate's rubber grommet. Strip and secure wires to screw terminals (polarity does not matter).
- Attach the back plate to the wall/doorframe with screws and secure rubber gaskets.
- If applicable, twist and cap the FRT and TRANS wires together at the chime box.
- Place the doorbell unit onto the back plate, securing the bottom with the set screw and clipping the top latch.
- Verify power at the DBC; the LED light will illuminate.
- Wait a few minutes for the camera to boot up and show as online. This process may take several minutes for firmware loading and configuration.
- Verify live video is viewable on the panel and app.
Installation Tips
- Ensure no exposed wires; push excess wire back into the wall.
- Use a spacer to adjust the camera angle if the view is blocked.
- Use outdoor-rated screws for brick, concrete, stucco, wood, or vinyl. Pre-drill if necessary.
- Do not use drywall screws or screws that do not sit flush on the back plate.
- Do not mount to metal surfaces.
Refer to the Field Service website for detailed guidelines on replacing an existing doorbell if the power source voltage is outside the 12-24V range.
