CAUTION:

• This product is not a toy. Keep it away from the reach of children.
• Please turn off or remove the collar before playing with your dog.

CAUTION:

• Proper fit of the receiver collar is important. A receiver collar worn for too long or made too tight on the pet's neck may cause skin damage, ranging from redness to pressure ulcers. This condition is commonly known as bed sores.
• Avoid leaving the receiver collar on the dog for more than 12 hours per day.
• When possible reposition the receiver collar on the pet's neck every 1 to 2 hours.
• Regularly recheck the fit to prevent excessive pressure; follow the instructions in this manual.
• You may need to trim the hair in the area of the contact points. Never shave the dog's neck; this may lead to a rash or infection.
• Never connect a leash to a collar with contact points; it will cause excessive pressure on the contact points.
• When connecting a leash to a separate collar, do not allow it to put pressure on the Premier Pet® GPS Dog Fence collar.
• Wash the dog's neck area and the contact points of the collar weekly with a damp cloth.
• Examine the contact area daily for signs of a rash or a sore.
• If a rash or sore is found, discontinue use of the collar until the skin has healed.
• If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian.

• Proper training of your pet is essential to successfully using the system. During the first 2 weeks of training, do not use the system without direct supervision of your pet.
• Remove the collar from your pet when indoors to avoid activation of the collar.

How It Works

The Premier Pet® GPS Dog Fence has been proven safe, comfortable, and effective for pets over 20 pounds. The center point and radius distance are set through GPS and GNSS satellite positioning and are saved to the collar. Your pet wears the collar with contact points that touch his neck, and, once trained, is allowed to roam freely within the pet area you have defined. When your pet reaches the boundary zone, the collar gives a warning tone before delivering a safe static correction through the contact points. The static correction will increase in intensity as your pet approaches and crosses the boundary zone; this correction is designed to get his attention and prompt him to return to the pet area.

NOTE: The correction will start in the boundary zone and continue anywhere beyond the pet area. The collar is equipped with a safety time-out feature that will stop correcting after two consecutive 15-second correction cycles but continue giving a warning tone every 5 seconds until your pet returns to the pet area.

Key Definitions

• Center point: The center of the GPS fence.
• Safe radius distance: The distance between the center point and the desired boundary zone.
• Pet area: The area between the center point and the safe radius distance where your pet can roam freely. The pet area will always be circular.
• Boundary zone: The region outside the pet area where the collar will give a warning tone and then deliver a static correction.
• LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and buttons: The user interface of the collar; used to set the center point, safe radius distance, and correction mode. See “Collar Overview” on page 6 for more information.
• Indicator light: This light blinks once per second when the collar is searching for a GPS signal and once every 5 seconds during normal use. It also provides charging status when the collar is connected to power via the USB charging cable.
• Charging port: Where the USB charging cable plugs into the collar. The charging port is covered by a rubber plug.
• Contact points: Deliver the safe static correction when your pet moves into the boundary zone.

Collar Menu

The collar menu allows you to set the safe radius distance, change the correction mode, or view information about the collar.

To enter the collar menu from the main screen, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.

Prepare the Collar

Charge the Collar

1. On the back of the collar, lift the rubber plug covering the charging port.
2. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the charging port.
3. Plug the other end of the USB charging cable into a type A USB charging port. The indicator light on the collar will glow red during charging and will turn green when the collar is fully charged. Each charge can last up to 24 hours, depending on frequency of use.
4. When the collar is fully charged, disconnect the USB charging cable and replace the rubber plug. The collar will turn off when you remove the charging cable.

Install the Contact Points

1. Choose the appropriate contact points for your dog. If your dog's coat is: Short or thin, use the short contact points. Long or thick, use the long contact points.
2. Insert the threaded ends of the contact points into the holes on the back of the collar. Turn the contact points clockwise to hold them in place.
3. Use the smaller hexagonal opening on the test light tool to tighten the contact points fully.
4. If desired, install silicone caps on the contact points. Silicone caps are provided for dogs that may have sensitivity to the metal contact points. The caps are conductive; they will protect your dog's skin but still allow him to feel any static corrections issued.

Set Up the GPS Fence

Turn the Collar On

1. Go outside with the collar.
2. Press the power button [C] once to turn on the collar. The collar will turn on, beep one time and immediately start searching for a GPS signal. The LCD will display the message GPS searching and the indicator light will blink green. It can take up to 1 minute for the collar to search for the GPS signal. Once the signal is found, the LCD will display the main screen. The GPS signal strength is indicated by the number of bars in the GPS signal icon at the top left corner of the main screen.

NOTE: The collar will only work if the GPS signal strength is at least 3 bars.

Set the Center Point

Before using the collar, you will need to set a center point for the boundary.

1. Walk to where you want the center of the boundary to be.
2. Make sure the main screen shows a GPS signal strength of at least 3 bars. If the signal strength is less than three bars, you will need to find a different center point.

NOTE: To save battery power, the LCD goes to sleep automatically when more than 1 minute has elapsed since the last button press. To wake the LCD, press the power button [C] once.

3. Once you have verified that the GPS signal strength is at least 3 bars, press and hold the location button [맘] for 3 seconds. The LCD will display Center Reset.
4. Using the adjustment buttons [/], select Yes.
5. Press the location button [금] to confirm your selection. The collar will beep to confirm your selection, and the LCD will return to the main screen. The collar will beep a second time to indicate that the center point has been set, and the LCD will display the positioning icon [9].

Set the Safe Radius Distance

The next step in creating your boundary is setting the safe radius distance.

1. Holding the collar, walk to where you want the edge of your boundary to be. Keep in mind that the edge of the boundary should be at least 25 feet away from any roads or other dangerous areas.
2. Make note of the distance shown at the lower right corner of the main screen; this number indicates how far you are from the center point.
3. Press and hold the power button [C] for 2 seconds to display the collar menu.
4. Using the adjustment buttons [/], select the radius icon [].
5. Press the location button [맘] to confirm your selection. The LCD displays the current safe radius distance.
6. Using the adjustment buttons [/], set the safe radius distance to the number of feet you made note of in step 2 above. You can set this to any value between 100 and 9999 feet.
7. Press the power button [C] once to return to the main screen.

Test the Fence

Holding the collar (but not touching the contact points), walk toward the boundary zone in several spots. As you approach the boundary, the collar should tone and vibrate and then progress to static correction. The icon at the lower left corner of the main screen will change from green (inside boundary) to red (outside boundary).

To check where the static correction occurs, hold the wires on the flat edge of the test light tool against the contact points on the collar. When a static correction is issued, the LED on the test light tool will flash red.

If you discover that the collar is not correcting in the desired locations, adjust the safe radius distance and center point as needed to create a safe boundary for your pet.

NOTE: Boundaries created using GPS technology are affected by a number of factors such as satellite positions and weather; your dog will be warned and corrected in a general area or zone, not in an exact location every time.

Set the Correction Mode

1. Press and hold the power button [C] for 2 seconds to display the collar menu [].
2. Using the adjustment buttons [/], select the mode icon [].
3. Press the location button [맘] to confirm your selection. The LCD displays the mode selection screen.
4. Using the adjustment buttons [/], select the desired correction mode:
   • No Shock: Correction is limited to tone and vibration - no static. This is the default mode.
   • Small Dog: Static correction is set to a level appropriate for small or timid dogs.
   • Large Dog: Static correction is set to a level appropriate for large or stubborn dogs.
5. After selecting the correction mode, press the power button [C] once to return to the main screen.

Fit the Collar

Important: The proper fit and placement of the collar is important for effective training. The contact points must have direct contact with your pet's skin on the underside of his neck.

CAUTION: Please read the front of this guide for Important Safety Information regarding the collar.

To assure a proper fit, please follow these steps:

1. Turn off the collar by pressing and holding the power button [C] for 4 seconds. The collar will beep twice and then turn off.
2. Start with your pet standing comfortably.
3. Place the collar on your pet with the Premier Pet® logo at the top.
4. Center the contact points underneath your pet's neck, touching the skin (A).

CAUTION: You may need to trim the hair in the area of the contact points. Never shave the pet's neck; this may lead to a rash or infection.

You should not make the collar any tighter than is required for good contact. A collar that is too tight will increase the risk of pressure necrosis in the contact area.

5. The collar should fit snugly, yet loose enough to allow one finger to fit between a contact point and your pet's neck (B).
6. Allow your pet to wear the collar for several minutes, then recheck the fit. Check the fit again as your pet becomes more comfortable with the collar.
7. Once you are satisfied with the fit of the collar, you can use scissors to trim any excess collar strap. Make sure to allow for growth if your pet is young or grows a thick winter coat.

Now that you have set up the boundary and fit the collar to your pet, it's time for training! Complete the steps in the following section to teach your pet to understand and respect the boundary.

Training Guide

Proper training of your pet is essential to the success of the collar.

Remove the collar after each training session.

If your pet shows signs of stress, slow down the training schedule, add additional days of training or increase the amount of play time with your pet in the pet area. Common stress signals include the pet pulling on the leash toward the house, ears tucked or pulled back, tail down or tucked between the legs, body lowered, nervous/frantic movement or stiffening of the pet's body, lip-licking or yawning.

Days 1

For the first day, start with the collar set to No Shock (tone and vibration only). With your pet on a leash and his favorite treats on hand, allow him to explore the pet area. Let him cross the boundary and hear the tone from the collar, then ask him to come back into the pet area and reward him. Aim to teach your dog that being inside the pet area is rewarding while being outside it is not. Keep your mood upbeat as dogs can understand when you are happy or upset. Do 2 or 3 training sessions about 10-15 minutes each. Do not try to do too much too quickly. More frequent short sessions are better than less frequent longer sessions.

Days 2-4

On days 2 through 4, repeat this process but with the collar set to Small Dog: the mildest level of static correction. Observe whether or not your dog responds to the correction. Indicators of a response are looking around in curiosity, flicking his ears or scratching at the collar. If he does not respond, check the collar fit to make sure the contact points are making contact with his skin. If it fits correctly and your dog does not respond, move up to the next correction mode (Large Dog) and repeat the process. Do 2 or 3 training sessions for about 10-15 minutes each.

Days 5-8

On days 5 through 8, continue where you left on day 4, but now add in some staged distractions. The goal is to have your pet stay within the boundary even with these new temptations. Start with lower value temptations and work your way up. Some examples are:

• Have a family member cross from inside the boundary out of it.
• Place a toy outside the boundary.
• Have a friend or neighbor walk another pet outside the boundary area.

Remember, it is important to keep your pet on a leash throughout this process while he is still learning the boundary. Also, never coax your pet to leave the pet area.

Days 9-30

Once your pet consistently avoids the boundary regardless of distractions or temptations, he is ready for the next step: unleashed supervision. Stay close by with a leash at hand. Play with your pet for a while during the first few sessions. If your dog does not try to leave the boundary, occupy yourself with another task in the yard, and allow him to freely explore. Continue watching your pet. If he escapes, remove the collar and lead him back into the pet area. Start these sessions at about 15 minutes and gradually work up to an hour or more.

When your pet proves trustworthy, you can let him out on his own. Continue to check on him regularly.

GPS Fence To-Go

Your Premier Pet® GPS Dog Fence is completely portable. Follow the steps in this manual to set a center point and safe radius distance wherever you wish to have containment of your pet.

Important: The collar only saves one boundary at a time; make note of your home boundary settings so you can recreate the boundary upon your return.

The specific temperament or size/weight of your pet may not be suitable for this product. If you are unsure whether this product is appropriate for your pet, please consult your veterinarian or certified trainer prior to use. For products used with pets where training is desired, Radio Systems Corporation recommends that these training products are not used if your pet is aggressive and accepts no liability for determining suitability in individual cases.

No Unlawful or Prohibited Use

This product is designed for use with pets only. This product is not intended to harm, injure or provoke. Using this product in a way that is not intended could result in violation of Federal, State or local laws.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Radio Systems Corporation or any of its associated companies be liable for (i) any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damage and/or (ii) any loss or damages whatsoever arising out of or connected with the use or misuse of this product. The Purchaser assumes all risks and liability from the use of this product to the fullest extent permissible by law.

Modification of Terms and Conditions

Radio Systems Corporation reserves the right to change the terms, conditions and notices governing this product from time to time. If such changes have been notified to you prior to your use of this product, they shall be binding on you as if incorporated.

Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations in your country. This equipment must be recycled. At the end of the product life, do not place it in the normal municipal waste system. Please check the regulations in your area or return it to where it was purchased so that it can be placed in our recycling system.
