Introduction and Overview

This document provides instructions for the KÄRCHER K 7 Premium Smart Control and K 7 Smart Control high-pressure cleaners. The devices can be controlled via the high-pressure gun or a mobile device with Bluetooth® wireless technology using the KÄRCHER Home & Garden app.

  • 1: Area of application (SOFT, MEDIUM, HARD with 2 pressure levels each)
  • 2: BOOST function indicator
  • 3: Spray type recommendation (flat stream, detergent, dirt grinder)
  • 4: Bluetooth® connection status
  • 5: Signal strength (four levels)
  • 6: Battery status (empty, almost empty, medium, full)
  • 7: Detergent level (1, 2, 3)

Safety Instructions

Always read and follow all safety instructions before using the device.

Hazard Levels

  • DANGER: Imminent threat of danger leading to severe injuries or death.
  • WARNING: Potentially dangerous situation leading to severe injuries or death.
  • CAUTION: Potentially dangerous situation leading to minor injuries.
  • ATTENTION: Potentially dangerous situation leading to property damage.

Protective Gear

CAUTION: Wear suitable protective clothing and safety goggles to protect against water or dirt backsplash. Aerosols can be harmful; use fully shielded nozzles or a respiratory mask (FFP 2) if necessary.

General Safety Instructions

  • DANGER: Risk of asphyxiation from packaging film. Keep away from children.
  • WARNING: Use only for intended purpose. Be aware of surroundings and third parties, especially children. Persons with reduced capabilities may only use the appliance under supervision and instruction. Children must not operate or play with the device.
  • CAUTION: Never modify or bypass safety devices.

Risk of Electric Shock

  • DANGER: Connect only to properly earthed power sources. Use only alternating current matching the type plate. Operate via a fault current protection switch (max. 30 mA). Never touch mains plug/socket with wet hands. Ensure mains plug and extension cable coupling are watertight and not submerged. Use cable drums to keep sockets at least 60 mm above the floor. Protect live parts from water jets.
  • WARNING: Ensure electrical connection is by a qualified electrician (IEC 60364-1). Check mains cable for damage before each use; replace if damaged. Protect cable from heat, oil, sharp edges. Use only approved extension cables with adequate cross-section (1-10m: 1.5mm², 10-30m: 2.5mm²).
  • CAUTION: Fully unwind extension cables. Switch off device and pull mains plug during breaks and after use.

Operation

  • DANGER: Do not operate in explosive atmospheres. Do not suction solvents, acids, or flammable liquids. Spray mist is flammable, explosive, and poisonous. Damaged wheels/tyre valves are dangerous. Maintain at least 30 cm spray distance from wheels/tyre valves.
  • WARNING: Do not use if people without protective clothing are nearby. Do not aim jet at yourself, others, animals, electrical equipment, or the device. Do not spray objects with harmful substances (e.g., asbestos). Check device and accessories for safe condition before each use. Replace damaged components immediately. Use only manufacturer-specified hoses, controls, and couplings. Risk of scalding from hot water leaks after operation.
  • CAUTION: Use with drinking water network requires a system separator (EN 12729 type BA). Water passed through a separator is not drinkable. Never leave device unsupervised. Ensure stable footing and firm grip on gun/lance. Ensure device stability before any action.
  • ATTENTION: Do not operate below 0°C.

Operation with Detergent

  • WARNING: Incorrect detergent use can cause serious injury or poisoning.
  • CAUTION: Keep detergent away from children. Use only manufacturer-supplied or specified detergents.

Care and Service

  • WARNING: Always unplug the device before maintenance.
  • CAUTION: Repairs on electrical components must be done by authorized customer service.
  • ATTENTION: Do not use acetone, undiluted acids, or solvents.

Transportation

  • CAUTION: Be aware of the device's weight during transport.

Device Description and Components

The device is controlled via the high-pressure gun or a mobile device with Bluetooth® wireless technology using the KÄRCHER Home & Garden app.

LCD Display (Illustration C): The display provides information on:

  • 1: Area of application (1-SOFT, 2-MEDIUM, 3-HARD) with 2 pressure levels each.
  • 2: BOOST function status.
  • 3: Spray type recommendation (flat stream, detergent, dirt grinder).
  • 4: Bluetooth® connection status.
  • 5: Signal strength indicator (four levels).
  • 6: Battery status (empty, almost empty, medium, full).
  • 7: Detergent level (1, 2, or 3).

Assembly

Fit the supplied loose parts onto the device before starting.

  • Mounting the accessory net (Illustration D): Hang the net on the hooks.
  • Pushing the high-pressure hose through the hose guide (Illustration E): Insert the hose from the rear.
  • Installing the water connection coupling (Illustration F): Screw the coupling onto the device's water connection.

Initial Start-Up

Note: If not using the mobile app, follow steps for connecting the high-pressure gun.

Download and Register App

  1. Download the KÄRCHER Home & Garden app.
  2. Start the app and log in or create an account.
  3. Scan the QR code to register the device. Alternatively, use the part and serial number from the type plate.
  4. Follow app instructions.

Connecting the High-Pressure Gun

Note: Ensure Bluetooth is activated on your mobile device before proceeding.

A detailed connection guide is available at https://www.kaercher.com/FCR.

  1. Plug the device into a socket. It enters coupling mode for 60 seconds.
  2. Press the "+" and "-" buttons on the gun simultaneously for at least 3 seconds. Successful coupling is indicated by pressure levels, radio, and Bluetooth® symbols on the display. The connection is established automatically.

Note: To re-establish Bluetooth connection later, press the "-" key for 10 seconds.

If coupling fails:

  1. Unplug the device.
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Attempt coupling again.

Initial Startup

  1. Place the device on a flat, level surface.
  2. For devices with a hose reel: Completely unwind the hose.
  3. For devices without a hose reel: Unwind hose completely, removing any twists or loops.
  4. Pull the high-pressure hose fully through the hose guide.
  5. Insert the high-pressure hose into the gun until it latches audibly. Ensure correct nipple alignment (Illustration H).
  6. Check connection security by pulling the hose.
  7. Plug the mains plug into a socket.

Operation

Water Supply

Observe local water company regulations. Use the KÄRCHER water filter (order no. 4.730-059) to protect against contaminated water.

Connection to the Water Line

ATTENTION: Never use a hose coupling with Aquastop on the device's water connection. An Aquastop coupling can be used on the tap.

  1. Connect the garden hose to the water connection coupling.
  2. Connect the garden hose to the water line.
  3. Open the water tap fully (Illustration I).

Sucking Water from Open Containers

Use the KÄRCHER suction hose with check valve (order no. 2.643-100) for sucking surface water (e.g., from rain barrels). The water connection coupling is not needed for this.

  1. Fill the suction hose with water.
  2. Screw the suction hose onto the device water connection and place it in the water source.

Venting the Device

To remove air from the system:

  1. Switch the device on ("I/ON").
  2. Unlock the high-pressure gun lever.
  3. Press the lever. The device will start.
  4. Allow the device to run for up to 2 minutes until the water escaping from the gun is free of air bubbles.
  5. Release and lock the high-pressure gun lever.

Smart Control System

Use the "+/-" buttons on the gun to select pressure and detergent dosing levels. Change spray type by rotating the 3-in-1 multi-jet spray lance.

Note: Material sensitivity varies; recommendations are guidelines.

Spray Types and Applications

  • Flat Jet Nozzle: For stone terraces, asphalt, metal surfaces, garden utensils.
  • Dirt Grinder: For stubborn dirt on stone terraces, asphalt, metal surfaces, garden utensils.
  • Detergent Nozzle: For operation with detergent, allowing concentration adjustment.

High-Pressure Operation

ATTENTION: Avoid damage to painted or sensitive surfaces by maintaining a minimum spray distance of 30 cm. Do not use the dirt grinder on car tires, paint, or sensitive surfaces like wood.

  1. Insert and rotate the 3-in-1 Multi Jet spray lance 90° to fix it (Illustration J).
  2. Select the spray type by rotating the lance until the desired display is visible (Illustration K).
  3. Switch the device on ("I/ON").
  4. Unlock and press the high-pressure gun lever.

Activating the BOOST Function

For stubborn dirt, the BOOST function can be activated for 30 seconds to increase water pressure. Press and hold the "+" button until BOOST is highlighted on the LCD display (Illustration L).

After BOOST expires, the device returns to the previous pressure level. The function is available again once the display stops flashing.

Operation with Detergent

DANGER: Follow the detergent manufacturer's safety data sheet, especially regarding personal protective equipment.

Note: A Plug 'n' Clean detergent bottle is required. KÄRCHER detergents are available in these bottles.

  1. Remove the cover from the Plug 'n' Clean bottle.
  2. Insert the bottle into the connection with the opening facing down (Illustration M).
  3. Turn the 3-in-1 Multi Jet spray lance to the "MIX" setting until the "MIX" indicator lights up on the gun's LCD. The detergent mixes with the water jet.
  4. Adjust detergent concentration using the "+/-" buttons.

Recommended Cleaning Method

  1. Spray detergent sparingly on the dry surface and let it work briefly (do not let it dry).
  2. Rinse off loosened dirt with the high-pressure jet.

After Operation with Detergent

  1. Remove the Plug 'n' Clean bottle, close it with the cap, and store it upright.
  2. Run the device for approx. 30 seconds at detergent level 1 to rinse the system.

Interrupting Operation

  1. Release the high-pressure gun lever. The device switches off, but pressure is retained.
  2. Lock the lever (Illustration N).
  3. Place the gun with lance in the parking position.
  4. Switch the device off ("0/OFF") for breaks longer than 5 minutes.

Ending Operation

CAUTION: Depressurize the system before disconnecting hoses to prevent injury from escaping high-pressure water.

CAUTION: Hot water may leak out when disconnecting hoses after operation.

  1. Release the high-pressure gun lever.
  2. Close the water tap.
  3. Press the gun lever for 30 seconds to discharge residual pressure.
  4. Release the lever.
  5. Lock the lever.
  6. Disconnect the device from the water supply.
  7. Switch the device off ("0/OFF").
  8. Pull the mains plug from the socket.

Transport and Storage

Transport

CAUTION: Be aware of the device's weight.

  • Carrying: Lift and carry by the carrying handles.
  • Pulling: Extend the transport handle until it latches, then pull the device.
  • Transporting in a vehicle: Remove and cap the Plug 'n' Clean bottle before transporting lying down. Secure the device against slipping and tipping.

Storage

CAUTION: Be aware of the device's weight.

  1. Place the device on a level surface.
  2. Disconnect the spray lance and high-pressure hose from the gun.
  3. Store the mains cable and accessories on the device.

Frost Protection

ATTENTION: Incompletely emptied devices can be destroyed by frost. Completely empty the device and accessories.

Requirements:

  • Device disconnected from water supply.
  • High-pressure gun disconnected from hose.
  1. Switch the device on ("I/ON").
  2. Wait up to 1 minute for water to stop escaping from the hose.
  3. Switch the device off.
  4. Store the device and accessories in a frost-protected room.

Care and Service

The device is maintenance-free.

Clean the Sieve in the Water Connection

ATTENTION: Contaminated water can damage the device. Check sieve for damage before insertion.

  1. Remove the water connection coupling.
  2. Pull out the sieve using flat pliers (Illustration O).
  3. Clean the sieve under running water.
  4. Insert the sieve back into the water connection.

Replacing the Batteries of the High-Pressure Gun

Requires two AAA batteries (non-rechargeable or rechargeable).

Replace batteries when the battery symbol is not visible or flashes.

  1. Press the locking slide (Illustration P/Q).
  2. Open the battery compartment.
  3. Remove the old batteries.
  4. Insert new batteries, observing correct polarity.
  5. Close the battery compartment.
  6. Dispose of used batteries according to regulations.

Troubleshooting Guide

Many malfunctions have simple causes that can be resolved by following this guide. Contact authorized Customer Service for issues not listed.

  • Device not running: Press gun lever. Check voltage. Check mains cable. If motor overloaded, switch off, let cool for 1 hour, switch on again.
  • Device does not start up, motor buzzes: Voltage drop or extension cable issue. Try pressing gun lever before switching on device.
  • Device does not reach required pressure: Check water supply flow rate. Clean sieve in water connection. Vent air from device (switch on without lance, press gun lever until no air bubbles, connect lance).
  • Strong pressure fluctuations: Clean high-pressure nozzle (use needle for dirt, rinse from front). Check water supply volume.
  • Device leaking: Minor leaks are normal; for severe leaks, contact Customer Service.
  • Detergent not sucked in: Turn spray lance to "MIX". Ensure Plug 'n' Clean bottle is correctly seated.
  • No pressure indicator on high-pressure gun: Re-establish connection to cleaner (see Initial Start-Up).
  • BOOST function not shown/working: Device may be overheated. Check water supply temperature and reduce if necessary.
  • Error messages (Illustration S): Switch off device, unplug, wait 20 seconds, plug in, switch on. Contact Customer Service if issue persists.
  • Emergency operation: If pressure regulation is defective, cleaner operates at maximum level. To deactivate: switch off, unplug, wait 20 seconds, plug in, switch on. Contact Customer Service if issue persists.
  • High-pressure gun not working properly (Illustration T): Internal error. Replace batteries (see Care and Service section). Contact Customer Service if issue persists.

Warranty

Warranty conditions are issued by the relevant sales company. Malfunctions due to material or manufacturing defects will be remedied free of charge within the warranty period. Contact your dealer or authorized customer service site with proof of purchase.
