Fridababy 3-in-1 True Temp Thermometer
User Manual
FEVER OR FINE IN A FLASH
High temperatures require quick answers. The Fridababy 3-in-1 True Temp Thermometer provides rectal, oral, and underarm readings with both a 10-second quick read and a 30-second final read from a single insertion.
For babies up to one year, rectal temperature measurement is recommended by the AAP as the best method until age three. The thermometer features a built-in LED light for visibility during use, especially for rectal readings. An insertion stopper prevents over-insertion, and Memory Mode allows you to recall previous readings.

Directions for Use
Normal Temperature and Fever Ranges
Method | Normal Temperature | Fever Range |
---|---|---|
Rectal | 97.3°F – 100.4°F | 100.4°F + |
Oral | 97.0°F – 99.6°F | 99.6°F + |
Underarm | 95.4°F – 98.6°F | 98.6°F + |
For Rectal Use
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends rectal temperature checks for babies up to one year, and it is considered the best method until age three. Ensure the thermometer is in Rectal ("rct") mode.
- Lubricate the silver tip with coconut oil or another natural lubricant.
- Press the small bump on the thermometer probe to turn on the LED light for visibility.
- Gently insert the thermometer tip up to the insertion stopper while lifting the baby's legs.
- Do not insert past the point of resistance.
For Oral or Underarm Use
Confirm the thermometer is in the correct mode: Oral ("orl") or Underarm ("udr").
- Press the white probe button on the side and flip the tip into oral/underarm mode.
- Oral Use (recommended for ages four and up): Place the thermometer tip under the tongue.
- Underarm Use: Place the thermometer probe with the tip in the armpit and keep the arm firmly pressed against the side.
For accurate underarm readings, always wait for the 30-second final reading, as the 10-second reading may be affected by environmental factors.
Taking a Temperature (10 or 30-Second Reading)
- Press the Power Button to turn the thermometer on. The last temperature reading will appear on the LCD screen.
- The selected reading mode ("rct," "orl," "udr") will be displayed.
- The screen will show "---" and the temperature unit (°F or °C).
- Insert the thermometer into the appropriate body part based on the mode setting. A loading "wheel" will appear on the screen while registering the temperature.
- 10-Second Read: The thermometer will beep and flash a temperature reading after 10 seconds.
- 30-Second Read: Keep the thermometer inserted. The screen will continue to flash for another 20 seconds. The thermometer will beep and display the final temperature reading once 30 seconds have passed.
- Wait at least one minute before attempting a new measurement.
- Press the Power Button to turn off the thermometer. This can be done at any time.
- Sanitize the thermometer before and after all readings, especially if switching between rectal and oral use.
Changing Units (°F to °C)
Turn the thermometer on. When the last temperature reading flashes, hold the button for 3 seconds. Press the button once to scroll to the next unit. Wait 3 seconds or press the button for 3 seconds to confirm your selection.
Changing Modes (Rectal, Oral, Underarm)
The thermometer defaults to rectal ("rct") mode.
- Turn the thermometer on and wait for the screen to light up.
- Hold the button for 3 seconds when the mode ("rct," "orl," "udr") flashes.
- Press the button once to scroll to the next mode.
- Wait 3 seconds for the thermometer to register the selected mode, or press the button for 3 seconds to confirm and proceed.
Available Modes: "rct" - Rectal, "orl" - Oral, "udr" - Underarm.
Use the mode that corresponds to your measurement method for the most accurate results.
Memory Mode
To enter Memory Mode, press and hold the button for 3 seconds when the device is off. Press the button once to scroll through stored memory readings. Press and hold the button for three seconds to turn off.
When to Call Your Child's Doctor
Call your child's doctor right away if your child has a fever and:
- Is younger than 3 months (12 weeks) and has a temperature of 100.4°F (38.0°C) or higher.
- At any age, the fever rises above 104°F (40°C) repeatedly.
Battery Replacement
- Replace the battery when the battery icon appears in the lower right corner of the LCD display.
- Pull off the battery door and open the battery chamber.
- Discard the battery lawfully. Replace with a new 3.0V DC button type CR2032, or equivalent.
- Slide the battery chamber back into place and attach the battery door.
Do not dispose of used batteries in the trash. Consult your local recycling center for proper disposal. Keep used batteries away from children, pets, and excessive heat.
Cleaning and Disinfection
- Wipe the thermometer with a soft clean cloth. For stubborn stains, use a cloth dampened with water or a neutral detergent, then wipe thoroughly. Finish by wiping with a soft dry cloth.
- For disinfection, 75% Ethanol or Isopropyl alcohol can be used.
Observe the following to prevent damage:
- Do not use benzene, thinner, gasoline, or other strong solvents to clean the thermometer.
- Do not attempt to disinfect the sensing section (tip) by immersing it in alcohol or hot water (over 122°F / 50°C).
- Do not use ultrasonic washing to clean the thermometer.
Troubleshooting / Error Codes
Performance may be degraded if operating or storing outside stated temperature and humidity ranges, due to mechanical shock, or if patient temperature is below ambient temperature.
Error | Problem/Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Hi | The measured temperature is above 109.2°F (42.9°C). | Results are above range; wait several minutes and attempt new measurement. |
Err | The measured temperature is below 89.6°F (32°C). | Results are below range; wait one minute and attempt new measurement. |
(System Error) | The system is not functioning properly. | Attempt new measurement; if error persists, contact Customer Care at fussbuster@fridababy.com. |
(Dead Battery) | Battery icon is flashing, cannot be measurable. | Check battery and replace with a new battery if necessary. |
Normal Body Temperature / Fever Indicator
Body temperature can vary between 97°F and 100.0°F and still be considered normal. The medically accepted 'normal' body temperature is 98.6°F. Body temperature is commonly lower upon waking than at any other time during the day.
Temperature readings vary based on the body location. Oral readings between 97°F (36.1°C) and 100°F (37.7°C) are considered normal. A rectal temperature reading is typically 1°F (0.5°C) higher, while an underarm (axillary) temperature reading is typically 1°F (0.5°C) lower.
A fever is defined as a body temperature elevated above an individual's normal. It's important to establish an individual's normal temperature by tracking it consistently at the same body site and time when they are healthy, to accurately determine if a fever is present.
