This document provides comprehensive instructions for installing and programming your Defiant electronic deadbolt lock.

1 Safety Information
Read all precautions and instructions before installing and using the lock. Save this manual for future reference.
CAUTION:
- Use four alkaline batteries for best performance.
- Do not attempt to disassemble internal components; this voids the warranty.
- Do not drop or hit the lockset; shock may cause permanent damage.
- Do not use pins or sharp objects to press the keypad.
- Always create a backup of important information (Master Code, User Codes).
- Promptly change the Master Code before operating the lockset.
CARE and MAINTENANCE:
- Remove locks or do not install prior to painting doors.
- Periodically clean with mild soap and a soft cloth only.
- Do not use abrasives, chemical products containing alcohol, benzene, acids, or sharp/abrasive objects for cleaning.
- Do not allow water or liquids into the lockset during installation.
WARNING:
If drilling is required, ensure you are familiar with safe drilling practices and all door preparation steps.
2 Pre-Installation
Tools Required:
Flat head screwdriver.
Hardware Included:
Refer to the "HARDWARE CONTENTS (Actual Size)" diagram.

Before Proceeding: Check Dimensions
Ensure door and jamb dimensions are compatible. Key dimensions include:
- Door Bore Hole: Ø 2-1/8" (54 mm)
- Door Edge Bore Hole: 1" (25 mm)
- Backset: 2-3/8" (60 mm) or 2-3/4" (70 mm)
- Door Thickness: 1-3/8" - 2" (35mm - 51mm)
3 Door Drilling for New Installation
Template Use: Cut out the template and use it to mark the door, drill holes, and chisel out the mortise for the latch and strike plate.
WARNING: Drill from both sides of the door to prevent wood splitting.
Door Preparation:
- Latch Hole: Drill a 2-1/8" (54 mm) hole in the door face.
- Edge Bore Hole: Drill a 1" (25 mm) diameter hole at the center of the door edge.
- Backset Adjustment: The latch can be set for a 2-3/8" (60 mm) or 2-3/4" (70 mm) backset. Adjust as needed.
- Latch Installation: Insert the latch into the edge bore hole. Ensure the latch bolt is in the retracted position. If using a drive-in latch, insert it directly.
- Door Jamb Preparation: Use the strike plate as a template to mark and drill holes for the latch bolt and mounting screws. Chisel out the mortise so the strike plate fits flush with the door jamb surface.
Latch Hole Depth:
- For 2-3/8" (60 mm) backset: 3-7/16" (87 mm)
- For 2-3/4" (70 mm) backset: 3-13/16" (97 mm)
Door Jamb Hole Dimensions for Strike Plate:
- a. 1-3/16" (30 mm)
- b. 1-9/64" (29 mm)
- c. 7/8" (22 mm)
Strike Plate Dimensions:
- d. 5/32" (4 mm)
- e. 2-1/4" (57 mm)

4 Installation
Installing the Latch:
- Attach the correct faceplate to the latch.
- Set the latch backset length (2-3/8" or 2-3/4").
- Install the latch into the door edge bore hole. Ensure the latch bolt is retracted. Use screws (CC) or the drive-in collar (K) if applicable.
Installing the Lock Assemblies:
- Thread the power cable (B) through the door hole and under the latch.
- Slide the cable through the notch in the mounting plate (D).
- Install the mounting plate (D) onto the door, ensuring the bulged part faces towards the door.
- Install the exterior assembly (A) onto the mounting plate.
- Connect the power cable (B) firmly into the connector port on the interior assembly (E). Ensure the metal connector side faces outward.
- Arrange the cable neatly as shown in the diagram.
- Insert the torque blade (C) into the interior slot of the thumbturn.
- Keep the thumbturn in a vertical position.
- Install the interior assembly (E) onto the mounting plate.
- Insert screws (AA) and tighten to secure the interior assembly.
Install Batteries:
CAUTION:
- Use four alkaline batteries for best performance. Match polarity (+/-). Do not mix old/new or alkaline/carbon-zinc batteries.
- Activate the lockset by entering the DEFAULT MASTER CODE (123456) to finish installation.
- Install and test the lock with the door OPENED to avoid being locked out.
Enter default Master Code (123456). The lock detects bolt direction for 10 seconds. Wait for the Green LED. If a Red LED lights up with 3 beeps, refer to Troubleshooting or contact customer service.
Programming
1 Overview of Functions
- Indicators:
- Red light: Incorrect entry or programming mode.
- Yellow light: Low battery.
- Green light: Correct entry.
- Clear Button (C): Press to cancel typos or exit programming mode.
- Mechanical Keyway Override: Lock or unlock using a valid mechanical key.
- Battery Cover: Protects batteries.
- [SET] Button: Press to enter programming mode.
- Interior Thumbturn: Manually lock or unlock the lockset.
How to Lock / Unlock the Lockset:
- To Lock: Press the [Lock] button.
- To Unlock: Enter a valid User Code or the current Master Code.
- Alternatively, use a mechanical key to lock or unlock.
2 Programming
Programming mode times out after 10 seconds of inactivity. Press the interior SET BUTTON to restart if a mistake is made.
How to Program the Lockset by Function Codes (Programming Mode)
A Master Code is required for programming and unlocking. The default Master Code is 123456. Change the Master Code before operating the lock.
Basic Settings
- Change Master Code: Press and hold the [SET] button until the unit beeps, then release. Enter current Master Code (6 digits), then press [Enter]. Enter New Master Code (6 digits), then press [Enter].
- Add User Code(s): The unit can store up to 10 customized User Codes (4-6 digits long). Press and hold the [SET] button until the unit beeps, then release. Enter current Master Code (6 digits), then press [Enter]. Enter New User Code (4-6 digits), then press [Enter]. Add another code.
- Add Single-Entry Code(s): The unit can store up to 5 single-entry user codes (4 digits long). Press and hold the [SET] button until the unit beeps, then release. Enter current Master Code (6 digits), then press [Enter]. Enter New Single-entry Code (4 digits), then press [Enter]. Add another code.
Advanced Settings
- Vacation Mode: Disabled by default. When enabled, only the current Master Code (6 digits) can unlock the lock. User/Single-entry Codes are reactivated when Vacation Mode is disabled. Press and hold the [SET] button until the unit beeps, then release. Enter current Master Code (6 digits), then press [Enter]. Press

Delete Individual User or Single-Entry Code(s):
Delete one or more codes at a time. Users/Single-entry codes cannot be retrieved after deletion. Press and hold the [SET] button until the unit beeps, then release. Enter current Master Code (6 digits), then press [Enter]. Press 3

Restore to Factory Settings:
This erases all stored information (Master Code, User Codes). Remove one battery. Press and hold the [SET] button while re-inserting the battery. Hold [SET] until a long beep is heard, followed by a short beep.
After restoring, enter the default Master Code (123456) to complete bolt direction setting. Change the Master Code before operating the lock.
3 Troubleshooting
Installation Questions & Answers
- Q: The latch does not operate correctly after installation.
A: 1. Make sure the backset on the latch is set to the proper length. 2. Ensure the latch bolt is retracted and the key is not in the lockset when installing the deadbolt. 3. Restore to factory settings and enter the default Master Code to set up the lock. - Q: Feel a bump while turning the thumbturn or the key?
A: 1. Execute lock & unlock function to allow the motor to reposition itself. 2. If the battery indicator light keeps flashing, the battery is low; replace with four new batteries. Hold the set button until a long beep is heard. 3. Restore to factory settings and enter the default Master Code to set up the lock. - Q: Fail to set up the lock.
A: 1. Ensure the lock is installed correctly. 2. Install fresh batteries and make sure the cable is connected correctly.

Make sure the cable is well-connected to the port and was not damaged during installation. 4. Ensure the lock has been set up and the bolt direction determination is complete. - Q: Master Code cannot be changed.
A: Refer to the user guide to restore factory settings and reprogram all codes. - Q: What should I do if a wrong code was entered?
A: Press the Clear button (C) once and continue to input the code according to regular procedures. - Q: Cannot delete all User Codes.
