MAULtronic S Solar Scale - Operating Instructions

This document provides comprehensive operating instructions for the MAULtronic S solar-powered digital weighing scale, covering initial setup, weighing functions, power management, and symbol explanations. Features solar operation and eco-friendly design.

Initial Operation

The scale operates exclusively on solar energy. To ensure optimal performance even in low light conditions, the electronics store surplus solar energy during operation and when the scale is switched off. If the scale has been stored in darkness for an extended period, it requires sufficient light (average room lighting) to become operational within seconds.

Positioning the Scale

Ensure the scale is placed on a horizontal and stable surface.

Weighing (ON)

All scale functions are activated by pressing the single ON-OFF-TARE-HOLD button. After switching on, all segments will appear on the display. Wait until zero appears before placing the item to be weighed and reading the weight.

Net Weighing (TARE)

Weigh an empty container (or the first quantity) and press the button again to reset the scale to zero. Fill the container (or add the second quantity). Only the added net weight will be displayed. After removing the container, the container's weight will appear with a negative sign.

Freezing of Weighing Value (HOLD)

The HOLD function allows you to freeze the displayed weight. Place the item to be weighed on the scale, then press and hold the button for at least two seconds. Once "HOLD" appears on the display, release the button. The weight value will remain displayed. Pressing the button again will deactivate the HOLD function.

Switch-off (OFF)

Press the button briefly when zero is displayed. If zero is not displayed, first reset the scale to zero, then press the button again to switch it off. The scale will automatically switch off after approximately 4 minutes, whether loaded or unloaded. The scale does not automatically switch off when the HOLD function is active.

Postal Rates (15131)

The applicable postal rates are indicated by a moving arrow at the bottom of the display. Current postal rate tables can be downloaded from the internet at www.maul.de.

Explanation of Special Symbols

1. Switching On:
After pressing the button, all symbols appear on the display. You can check if all segments are displayed correctly. The subsequent zero display indicates the scale is ready for weighing.
2. Negative Value:
Press the button again.
3. Overload (FULL):
Remove the item being weighed, as its weight exceeds the scale's maximum capacity.
4. Energy Supply (LOW):
A flashing "Low" indicator means the buffer energy is depleted, and the scale should be placed in better lighting. If "Low" remains constantly displayed, the energy is completely depleted, and the scale will switch off.
5. Storing Displayed Value:
As long as "HOLD" is displayed, the weight value is stored, and the scale will not switch off automatically.

Precision and Compliance

This device complies with EU Directive 2014/31/EU. Note: Unusual electromagnetic influences (e.g., interference transmitters in the vicinity) may affect the displayed value. After the interference ceases, the product can be used as intended. The scale must not be used for official metrology or legally regulated trade.

Each scale is carefully calibrated and tested during the production process. The tolerance is ± 0.5% ± 1 digit (temperature range +5°C to +35°C). No liability is accepted for incorrect readings due to damage, improper handling, or device defects. The warranty does not cover damage resulting from defects. Liability for lost profits or other financial damages to the buyer or user is also excluded.

The scale is certified with the "Blauer Engel" (Blue Angel) and "Das Umweltzeichen" (The Environmental Label) for its environmental friendliness.
