Kohler KEP Series Automatic Transfer Switches
Service Entrance Rated
Product Overview
The Kohler KEP Series Automatic Transfer Switches are designed for service entrance applications, providing reliable automatic switching between utility and standby power sources. These units incorporate isolating mechanisms and overcurrent protection directly on the utility supply, eliminating the need for separate upstream disconnects.

- LCD display (4 lines x 20 characters, backlit)
- Keypad and LCD for programming and viewing at the door
- LED indicators for source availability, transfer switch position, service required (fault), and "not in auto"
- Standard Modbus communication
- Programmable voltage and frequency pickup/dropout settings
- Programmable time delays
- Programmable generator exerciser
- Time-based and current-based load control (current sensing kit required)
- Two programmable inputs and two programmable outputs (factory connections may use some)
- Optional I/O extension modules (up to four)
- RS-485 and Ethernet communication standards
- Supports three-source systems and prime power applications
For detailed information, refer to specification sheet G11-128.

Typical Single-Line Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates a typical single-line connection for a service entrance automatic transfer switch. It depicts the Utility Supply connected to a Utility Power Switching Device (UCB) with a trip unit. This device is mechanically interlocked with a Generator Power Switching Device (GCB), which is non-automatic. A Removable Neutral Ground Bond Conductor is also shown. Both switching devices feed into the Customer Load. The diagram is labeled for a 3-pole model. The primary sources shown are the Utility Supply and the Standby Generator Set.
