1. Introduction

We hope that you will be fully satisfied with your new AXIUM DX8000 terminal. Read this guide to understand and make the best use of your terminal. It presents you the necessary information about use, installation, maintenance, safety and security recommendations.

2. Presentation

2.1 Contents of the box

The power supply unit provided with your equipment is specially designed for INGENICO AXIUM DX8000 terminal. Do not use any other power supply. The use of a power supply with apparently similar voltage/current characteristics may damage your terminal.

2.3 Keypad Functions

The terminal features three physical keys on the left side: a power button and two volume keys. The screen area includes virtual or capacitive keys at the bottom for Menu, Home, and Back functions, depending on the screen size (5.99-inch or 5.5-inch).

2.4 Touch Panel

The AXIUM DX8000 is equipped with a touch panel that allows users to interact with functions and menus using their finger.

3. Use of the terminal

? Before using the terminal, always check if the roll of paper is present.

3.1 Power on/Power off the terminal

Power On Terminal: Make sure the terminal battery is correctly installed. Press the (Power) button for about 1 second until the display turns on.

Power Off Terminal: Press and hold the (Power) button for more than 2 seconds until the display shows the following menu. Then, press (Power off).

The power-off menu typically includes options like: Power off, Profile, Default, Reboot, Airplane mode, Silent mode.

Battery Low: If the battery is empty, the terminal will automatically shut off.

Terminal restart: In case of abnormal behavior, press and hold the power button for 8 seconds to force a power off.

Screen saver mode: To conserve battery power, a short press of the power button (approx. 0.5 seconds) can turn off the screen.

3.2 Reading cards

Magnetic stripe card

The card can be read bi-directionally. Ensure the stripe faces the terminal. Use a regular, smooth movement for reliable reading.

Contactless card

Bring the card firmly up to the active zone. Keep the card close to the reader during the transaction. LEDs on the front indicate transaction processing.

3.3 Usage of Front Camera

For scanning with the front camera:

The terminal will beep upon a successful scan.

3.4 USB Type-C

A USB Type-C connector is located on the left side of the terminal. This connector supports Host and Slave connections and integrates an Audio Jack solution.

4.2 Screen Protective film

Please remove the protective film before usage.

4.3 Installing modules

4.3.1 SAM1/SAM2/SIM1/SIM2

Switch off the terminal before opening the battery door.

The SAM/SIM connectors are located inside the terminal, in a closed compartment.

SAM1, SAM2 and SIM1, SIM2 are identified by engraved marks on the lower housing.

When introducing a SAM/SIM into a slot, ensure the cut corner is positioned as indicated in the picture.

Close the battery door.

? AXIUM DX8000 is equipped with a dual SAM slot. When using two SAM cards, it is recommended to insert the bottom one first, then the top one. When using only one SAM card, it is recommended to insert SAM1 slot (bottom).

? SIM and SAM cards share the same form factor; please be careful with the SIM card socket position.

4.3.2 MicroSD Memory Card

Thermal paper can deteriorate under poor storage conditions. Avoid:

4.4.2 Installing paper roll

Open the paper cover by lifting the catch at the top of the AXIUM DX8000 and pull the cover to the rear of the terminal.

Insert the paper roll into the compartment following the directions shown in the picture.

Pull the paper up to the top of the terminal, hold it in place, and close the cover.

Press simultaneously on both upper corners of the paper flap until it clips into position.

? If you insert a new R40 paper roll, tear off the first length (one complete turn) to avoid printing on the adhesive footprint.

Turn your terminal over and unclip the battery door by pushing the clips as shown in the picture.

Plug the battery pack connector according to the connector locating system.

Place the battery pack in its compartment.

4.6 Visual Impaired Accessory

Install

Install the VI accessory on the screen.

5. Recommendations

5.1 Safety

Powering down the AXIUM DX8000: Disconnect the AXIUM DX8000 power supply block adapter from the electrical mains network.

Lithium cell: The AXIUM DX8000 is fitted with an internal lithium cell which should only be accessed by a qualified technician.

SAM1/SAM2/SIM1/SIM2 Readers compartment: The trapdoor for the battery, SAM1/SAM2/SIM1/SIM2 readers, located underneath the terminal, must be in place during normal operation.

Refer to sections "Installing modules" and "Installing the battery".

On airplanes: Your terminal must be switched off by removing the battery pack. Remove the battery from the terminal when on an airplane. Non-compliance with these safety rules may result in legal action and/or a ban on later access to cellular network services.

Explosion areas: Some regulations restrict the use of radio equipment in chemical plants, fuel depots, and sites where blasting is carried out. You are urged to comply with these regulations. The terminal shall be protected by a specially fitted and certified cover enabling use in proximity to a fuel pump.

5.1 Safety (Continued)

Thunderstorm weather: Mobile phone electromagnetic waves can conduct lightning. It is easier to suffer lightning strikes in damp atmospheres, especially in open areas. Do not use wireless terminals during thunderstorms.

Electronic health appliances: Your terminal is a radio transmitter and may interfere with health appliances (hearing aids, pacemakers, etc.). Consult your doctor or the equipment manufacturer for advice.

5.2 Security of your terminal

Your device complies with current applicable PCI PTS security requirements. Upon receipt, check for signs of tampering. Perform these checks regularly. Verify that the keypad is firmly in place, and there are no unusual wires connected to ports or the card reader. Such checks warn of unauthorized modifications. The terminal detects any "tampered state," displaying "Warning Detected" and becoming unusable. If this message appears, contact the terminal helpdesk immediately.

Ensure privileged access is granted only to independently verified trustworthy staff. The terminal must never be left unattended where it could be stolen or replaced.

5.3 Fixed installation

If the device is used where cardholders cannot shield their PIN entry, it must be installed as follows:

The terminal is exclusively for indoor use.

? Positioning on a check stand should make cardholder PIN spying infeasible. Adjustable stands should allow swiveling/tilting to make visual observation of PIN entry difficult. In-store cameras should not capture the PIN keypad. Never ask customers to divulge their PIN; advise them to ensure they are not overlooked.

7. Troubleshooting

Q: The terminal cannot be started.

A: The device may be in a low energy status or an application running on the device may be in a defective state. Please ensure that the device is powered, and then reset the device. If this still fails, please contact our customer service department for help.

Q: Printer cannot work.

A: This may be caused by abnormal power supply or incorrect paper installation.

Check the battery status or the terminal power connection. If the remaining battery power is insufficient for a complete printing operation, the printer will not print the paper.

Check the printer roller and if the paper dust cover is correctly installed.

If the problem still exists, please contact our customer service center.

Q: Transaction Processing Failure.

A: Following reasons are likely to cause transaction failure: damaged magnetic card or smart card SAM card, damaged card reader, improper operation of card swiping, damaged or unconnected, unconnected phone line, etc.
