ZTE MC801A 5G CPE Quick Start Guide
Introduction
This document provides essential information for setting up and operating your ZTE MC801A 5G CPE (Customer Premises Equipment).
Device Overview
The ZTE MC801A is a 5G wireless gateway. The device features several indicators, ports, and buttons for its operation.
Indicators
- Signal Indicators (Top to Bottom): Three steady white lights indicate signal strength. More lights mean a stronger signal. If lights are off, the signal may be weak, not detected, or no SIM card is inserted.
- Network Indicator:
- Steady red light: Indicates no network, no SIM card, or other network service issues.
- Steady blue light: Indicates connection to a 3G or LTE network.
- Steady white light: Indicates connection to a 5G network.
- WiFi Indicator:
- Steady white light: WLAN is functioning normally.
- Light blinking: WPS function is active.
- Light is off: WLAN function is disabled.
- Power Indicator:
- Steady white light: External power supply is connected and the device is receiving power.
- Light is off: The device is powered off.
Ports and Buttons
- WPS Button: A short press activates the WPS function. A long press (approximately 10 seconds) resets the device to factory settings.
- External Antenna Connection: Port for connecting an external antenna.
- Network/LAN Port: RJ45 port for wired network connections.
- Power Connector: Port for connecting the power adapter.
- Nano SIM Card Slot: Slot for inserting a nano-SIM card.
- Reset Hole: Used for factory reset (long press).
SIM Card Installation
To install a SIM card, use a nano-SIM card. Insert the card into the MC801A's card slot in the direction shown until it clicks into place.
Supported SIM card types include (U)SIM, micro-SIM, and nano-SIM. Ensure you are using a nano-SIM for this device.

Getting Online
After connecting the power adapter, the device will automatically start and connect to the internet.
Connecting via Wi-Fi
On your mobile device, open Wi-Fi settings, select the SSID of the MC801A, and enter the password. This information is typically found on the product label at the bottom of the device. Once connected, your mobile device can access the internet.

Connecting via Network (RJ45)/LAN Cable
Connect your computer to one of the LAN ports on the back of the modem using an RJ45 cable. Your computer can then access the internet directly.

Configuring the MC801A
To reconfigure the modem, you can log in to the device management page.
- Check the product label at the bottom of the device for the management page IP address and login details.
- Using a web browser on your computer or mobile device, access the IP address and enter the login details on the device management page.
- Change the MC801A's settings as required.
