Accutron 9058 GMT Instructions
1. Display and Crown Positions
This section describes the layout of the Accutron 9058 GMT watch face and the functions of its crown positions.
Watch Face Components:
- Hour Hand: Indicates the local hour.
- Minute Hand: Indicates the minutes.
- Second Hand: Indicates the seconds.
- 24 Hour Hand: A GMT hand, typically with a triangle tip, indicating a second time zone (home time). It uses the 24-hour track printed on the outer zone of the dial.
- Date Display: Shows the current date.
Crown Positions and Functions:
The watch features a crown with multiple positions, labeled A, B, and C:
- Position A: Used for Mainspring Winding.
- Position B: Used for Time Adjusting (setting local time and date).
- Position C: Used for Hour Hand Adjusting. Pulling the crown to this position also stops the second hand, allowing for precise time setting.
2. Winding the Mainspring
This Accutron 9058 GMT features a self-winding mechanical movement. It can also be manually wound. To manually wind the watch, turn the crown in Position A approximately 15 to 20 times clockwise until the second hand begins to move naturally.
3. Setting the Time
Follow these steps to set the time on your Accutron 9058 GMT:
- Setting the 24-Hour GMT Hand (Home Time): Set the 24-hour GMT hand (identified by its triangle tip) to your desired 'home' time using the 24-hour track on the dial. Pull the crown out to Position C and rotate it in either direction. Adjusting the 24-hour hand in this position will also move the main hour hand. Pulling the crown out to Position C will stop the second hand, enabling precise time synchronization.
- Setting the Hour Hand (Local Time): Set the main hour hand for your 'local' time. Pull the crown out to Position B and rotate it in either direction. If your local time and home time are the same, both hands will indicate the same time. When traveling to a new location, pull the crown out to Position B and rotate the hour hand to reflect the local time. The 24-hour GMT hand will remain set to your 'home' time.
4. Setting the Date
The date function is linked to the local time setting:
- To set the date, pull the crown out to Position B and rotate the hour hand in either direction. Two full rotations of the hour hand around the dial will advance or reverse the date. Exercise care to ensure the date is set correctly within the AM or PM cycle.
