- Lower the monitor and reinstall the cover.
Diagram: Illustrating the adjustment points for monitor mount tension.
Remove Drawers/Shelves
Drawers and shelves can be removed for access to wiring, utilities, or to retrieve fallen items. Different drawer styles have slightly different hardware.
| Drawer/Shelf Style | Removal Method |
|---|---|
| Storage Drawer | Pull out, lift up, then pull out and down. |
| Swing-Out Shelf | Pull the left tab up and push the right tab down. |

Adjust Storage Drawer Face Alignment
Storage drawers have adjustment screws on both sides to correct face alignment. Remove the A-dec cover to access them.
Up-and-Down Alignment: The screw furthest from the drawer face adjusts this. On the left side, turn counterclockwise to raise or clockwise to lower. On the right side, turn clockwise to raise or counterclockwise to lower.
Side-to-Side Alignment: The screw closest to the drawer face adjusts this. On the left side, turn counterclockwise to move the face right or clockwise to move it left. On the right side, turn the screw the same number of increments, but clockwise to move the face right or counterclockwise to move it left.
Caution: Use a #2 Pozidriv® screwdriver to avoid damaging screws.
Note: Adjust left and right screws in equal increments. Adjust both sides simultaneously for simplification.
Diagrams: Showing adjustment screws for storage drawer face alignment (Up and Down, Side-to-Side).
Adjust Equipment Drawers
Use the built-in adjustment mechanism under the drawer for face position adjustment.

Remove and Replace Doors
Warning: Do not attempt to remove bifold doors on 592 central consoles or 595 X-ray inserts. Doors are heavy and can cause injury if not properly supported.
Door hinges have a quick-release tab for easy removal. Start with the lower hinge.
- Pull the quick release tab on the hinge end.
- Repeat for the upper hinge and carefully remove the door.
- To reinstall, align the center pin with the hinge plate and snap into place, starting with the upper hinge.
- Swing the door several times to ensure security.
Deactivate Door Soft-Close Feature: Slide the black switch toward the cabinet on all hinges for that door.
Illustration: Sequence showing door removal and deactivation of soft-close feature.
Adjust Hinges/Door Alignment
Follow these guidelines to adjust door alignment using hinge screws.
Caution: Use a #2 Pozidriv® screwdriver to avoid damaging screws.
Adjustments include: Side to Side, Back to Front, and Up and Down.
Note: The hinge plate screw location (top or bottom) depends on the door configuration.
Diagrams: Illustrating hinge adjustment points for door alignment.
Move the Cart (Model 396 cart only)
Caution: Maneuver carts carefully over floor obstacles. Do not roll over thresholds. Secure drawers and lift high enough for casters to clear obstacles.
Use two hands on top of the cart when moving it, ensuring the front faces the direction of movement.

Barriers Drawer
The barrier drawer provides convenient access to single-use items like instrument sleeves, chair covers, barrier rolls, and paper tray covers.
Use straps to secure instrument sleeve boxes. The small roll is for 4" barrier film; the large spool is for chair covers. To install a new roll of covers:
- Remove the spool from the keyhole.
- Insert the roll of chair covers onto the spool before replacing it.
- Feed the chair covers through the black grommet on the top shelf.
Illustration: The barrier drawer with various single-use items.
Foot-Activated Faucet
For sink modules with a foot-activated faucet, water temperature and flow are controlled by the faucet handle position. To set, press the foot pedal and move the handle to achieve the desired temperature and flow rate.
Illustration: A sink module with a foot-activated faucet, showing the foot pedal and faucet handle.
Add Auxiliary Devices
The A-dec Inspire system uses the same relay and data communication system (DCS) as A-dec chairs and delivery systems, allowing for future addition of auxiliary devices.
If you have a 591 Treatment Console with a control center, follow these steps to integrate and control a device via the touchscreen:
- Remove cabinet false bottom panels to locate the distribution or quad box.
- Route the power cord through the power panel or countertop cord drop to the cabinet base.
- Secure cords with cable ties.
- Plug the device into the distribution box.
- On the control center, press and hold an Aux position to change its icon.
- Choose the appropriate icon for the device and press 'X' to save. (See "How to Run and Set Auxiliary Devices" on page 8.)
Note: Up to three auxiliary positions/icons may be available. Configuration may vary. Contact your authorized A-dec dealer for more details.
Sequence of images: Showing the steps to add auxiliary devices.
A-dec ICV Vacuum-Line Cleaner Operation
A-dec recommends cleaning vacuum lines daily using the ICV system.
To operate ICV:
- Plug HVE and saliva ejector into the ICV faceplate and open valves.
- Press the start/stop button on the faceplate or press the ICV icon on the control center.
- When the cycle is complete, close valves and return instruments to holders.
Note: The factory default run time is 1 minute, using approximately 1 liter of fluid. Refer to page 9 to change the run time.
Fill the Tank: Fill when the low fluid indicator illuminates. Disconnect fluid tubing, disconnect indicator tubing, remove cap, and add cleaner and water per manufacturer's recommendations.

Clean/Maintain
Barrier Protection
A-dec recommends barrier protection for all applicable touch and transfer surfaces to prevent cross-contamination during dental procedures.
Requirements: In the USA, barriers must be produced under Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP). For regions outside the USA, refer to local medical device regulations.
Note: For proper use and disposal of barriers, see the barrier manufacturer's instructions.
Important: For cleaning and disinfection recommendations where barriers are not practical or are compromised, see the A-dec Equipment Asepsis Guide (p/n 85.0696.00).
Image: A hand cleaning a surface with a wipe, illustrating barrier protection.
Control Center Protection
Use standard 4" x 6" barrier film (blue or clear) on the control center screen to support asepsis protocols. Standard touchscreen wipes or cleaner can be used for routine cleaning. Use a disinfectant wipe if the barrier is compromised.
Caution: Prevent liquid from dripping into seams and housing. Do not use spray applicators for cleaners or disinfectants on the control center.
Illustration: The Control Center touchscreen displaying time and timer functions.
Surface Management
To preserve your investment, use barriers where possible. For cleaning and disinfection, use the least harmful EPA-registered disinfectants that provide necessary protection while minimizing equipment harm.
Least Harmful: Barriers, EPA-registered disinfecting wipes (e.g., quaternary ammonium chlorides with <25% isopropyl alcohol), EPA-registered disinfecting sprays (high-dilution, water-based phenols), mild dishwashing liquid and water (for cleaning only).
Note: Disinfecting wipes are generally less harmful than sprays due to reduced overspray and more consistent application. Always follow disinfectant manufacturer's directions.
Most Harmful: Sodium hypochlorite (bleach), hydrogen peroxide (pH <4), isopropyl alcohol (>40%), products with abrasives, abrasive applicators/scrubbers.
Important: For a quick reminder of these guidelines, see the A-dec Inspire Asepsis Quick Reference (p/n 86.0632.00). For more details, see the A-dec Equipment Asepsis Guide (p/n 85.0696.00) available at www.a-dec.com.

Remove/Install Base Covers
Cabinet base covers are easily removed for cleaning or to access utilities. Pull covers straight out to remove. Reinstall by attaching to magnets or spring clips in their original locations. Place rounded corner covers on front corners and square covers on back corners.
Caution: Base covers are held by high-strength magnets. Hold by the edges to avoid pinching fingers.
Note: Some base covers may vary in shape and location but attach similarly.
