Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Health o meter for Kids™ HDC100 Baby/Toddler Scale. This scale is designed for accurate and reliable weighing of babies and toddlers in both pounds and kilograms, up to a maximum of 60 lbs (27kg). Key features include the 'Zero Out' function for deducting added weight (like blankets or diapers) and the 'Hold' feature to display a steady, average weight even if the baby moves. The tray can be removed as the child grows.
Safety Information
- Intended for home use with adult supervision. Never leave a child unattended on the scale.
- Do not place the unit on slippery surfaces.
- Ensure the tray is properly locked before placing the baby on the scale.
- Do not immerse the scale in water or pour liquids onto it.
- Do not use while bathing.
- Note: Weight can vary slightly throughout the day and from day to day. Consult a physician if concerned about weight fluctuations.
Preparing the Scale for Use
- Remove the battery cover on the back of the scale and insert a 9V battery (not included). Replace the cover.
- If weighing an infant who cannot stand, attach the tray to the scale. Turn the locking nut counter-clockwise to secure the tray.
Operating the Scale
Place the scale on a hard, flat surface. Avoid rugs or soft surfaces.
- Press the button. The display will show "8888".
- Wait for the display to show "0:0" or "0.00".
- Select pounds (0:0) or kilograms (0.00) by pressing the button.
Note: "0:0" indicates pounds/ounces mode; "0.00" indicates kilograms/grams mode.
Using the Scale With the Tray
Ensure the tray is securely locked before use.
- Press and follow the operating instructions.
- Lay the baby on the tray and read the display.
- If the baby is moving, press the button to lock the correct weight. The display will show "hold" and then the average weight, with a [downward arrow] symbol flashing.
The scale will automatically turn off after 2 minutes.
Using the Scale Without the Tray
- Remove the tray by turning the locking nut clockwise.
- Insert the 4 rubber plugs and the plastic cover tab into the locking tray hole.
- Hold your baby upright, placing their feet to distribute weight evenly. The LCD display will show their weight.
- If necessary, press the button to lock the baby's weight.
Using the 'Zero Out' Feature
This feature is useful for weighing a baby with a blanket or diaper.
- Place the blanket or diaper on the tray.
- Press the button until the display reads "0:0" or "0.00".
- You can now accurately weigh your baby.
Using the 'Hold' Feature
Use this feature when your baby is moving.
- Press the button.
- The display will first show "hold," then the baby's average weight will be displayed with a [downward arrow] symbol flashing.
Taking Care of Your Scale
- Periodically wipe the scale with a damp cloth to remove dust.
- Handle the scale carefully; it is a delicate instrument.
- Do not use abrasive cleansers, as they can damage the scale's surface.
Symbols and Cautions
- Lo: Appears when the battery needs replacement.
- Err: Appears when there is too much weight on the scale.
- ---: If this appears, turn the scale off and then on again. Wait for "0:0" or "0.00" before weighing.
Caution:
- Weight exceeding the capacity (60 lb / 27 kg) may damage the scale.
- This scale is designed for household use only.
- This scale is not waterproof; avoid contact with excessive moisture.
