About Us:

For three-quarters of a century, Union Corrugating Company has served the metal building components market. The company was launched in 1946 when Mr. J. E. Union left West Virginia with his manually operated corrugating machine and settled in Fayetteville, NC. By the early 1950s, J.E. had built a small business that was struggling to survive.

In 1954, Hurricane Hazel tore through eastern North Carolina causing tremendous damage. The day after the storm, pickup trucks lined up outside the gates of Union Corrugating, the only local manufacturer, to purchase metal roofing. J.E.'s foreman said, "What price should we charge today? This is our opportunity to really bring in the extra money to pay our bills." J.E. responded, "We'll charge the same price today that we charge every day and not a penny more." From that day forward, the business flourished as word spread about the company's reputation for fairness, honesty, and commitment to its customers.

Today, Union Corrugating Company is an industry leader serving the residential, commercial, and agricultural roofing and siding markets from 10 manufacturing facilities located throughout the central and eastern US. We're continually striving to manufacture metal roofing that's more durable, efficient, and sustainable... metal roofs that save you money with minimal environmental impact. Our unique distribution system allowed us to grow rapidly from our roots in the southeast by providing the fastest and most reliable deliveries in the industry. Our support network ensures you'll get what you need, when you need it.

Why Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings?

Benefits of PEMB:
 Cost-Effective
Metal buildings cost less than conventional construction (up to 30% less). Our metal buildings are fabricated in IAS accredited plants so you can be confident of the quality and code compliance. Metal buildings are low maintenance and extremely durable. With 25-year galvalume panel finish warranties and 45-year painted panel finish warranties you can rest assured of longevity.

Union's Metal Buildings are customengineered, high-quality metal building systems utilized in a variety of applications including industrial, warehouse, commercial, institutional, recreational, and many other applications. As a member of MBMA, our manufacturing and engineering policies, practices, and procedures assure the structural integrity and quality of our metal buildings.
Metal building systems have become a popular and cost-efficient building solution among architects and building owners. The design possibilities are virtually endless. Steel is the strongest and most cost-efficient construction available. Metal buildings offer clear advantages compared to conventional construction:

 Time-Saving
Metal buildings are easy to erect and go up fast. Our process can reduce the time to design, produce, and fabricate your building. The result is "lower in-place costs" and provides for a quicker occupancy.
 Versatile
Metal Buildings offer a wide variety of possibilities. Architects like the fact that metal buildings offer flexibility of design. Not all metal buildings have to look like a "metal building". Get all the benefits of a metal building but add a masonry wainscot, utilize brick or a stucco wall system, or add a parapet.
 Expandable
Metal buildings can be designed to be easily added onto. Need a warehouse with the ability to add on to as you grow? No problem, we will just design the endwall or sidewall for a future expansion.

Standards Matter
What does this certification mean for you? Union Corrugating can now manufacture any building that requires the IAS AC472 certification. This certification is the international standard building code. In order to obtain this certification, Union Corrugating put traceability and manufacturing processes in place. Every pre-engineered steel building manufactured by Union Corrugating accredited locations is IAS-AC472 certified, so all of our customers can be 100% certain they are getting the best quality possible.

Look for "472"
Some may claim to be IAS accredited, but only the 472
code is the top accreditation.

The AC472 label means that your metal building system meets rigorous standards in:
· Structural - welding and traceability for structural fabrication
· Cold Formed - products that do not require welding (purlins & girts)
· Design - detailing and engineering
To meet building codes, the metal roof covering standards are determined by the 2021 International Residential Code. Under this code the substrate of painted metal panels must meet ASTM A755 Standard, which is AZ-50 or thicker. Union's roofing products and procedures were proven, as well, for Keystone Quality Assurance Program and Florida Building Code product approval. Look for that UL label. Most insurance companies offer discounts for UL approved products. Union Corrugating has UL rated products for UL790 Fire Resistance, Class 4 Impact Resistance, and Class 60/Class 90 Uplift Resistance.

Union Corrugating offers a full range of secondary structural framing components including Cees, Zees, Receiver Channel and Eave Struts in custom lengths to reduce field cutting. These components are available in standard punch patterns or can be custom slotted or punched to reduce field drilling.

· 12, 14, and 16 gauge

Superior Substrate.
What does that mean for you?
Some metal roofing companies have chosen to use inferior substrate to stay viable in this competitive market. Make sure you are getting the best metal for your project. Regardless of the paint system used, the paint offers little corrosion or rust resistance itself. It merely retards the loss of the aluminumzinc alloy coating. The rust resistance of metal roofing comes primarily from the alloy coating, called the substrate. The flexibility and strength come from the thickness and hardness of the steel core.

Clear Span Frame

Secondary Framing Systems

When you need large open spaces the Clear Span frame is the choice. It can be designed in symmetrical and asymmetrical configurations.
Multi-Span Frame

Eave Strut

Zee Purlin

Wall secondary structural are rolled cold-formed zee girts. Girt conditions refer to how the horizontal girts are attached to the exterior columns of your building.

The Multi-Span frame is available in gable or single slope options. The interior columns provide multiple spans across wider buildings. This can be a more economical option on building widths of 80' and greater when interior columns are acceptable.
Single Slope Frame
The Single Slope frame is available as clear span or multi-span. This is a flexible solution that offers the roof to slope in one direction. If there are drainage restrictions this can be an excellent option. Facades and parapets can be used to give the appearance that all surrounding walls are the same height.
Lean-To Frame

Flush Girt

Bypass Girt

A Flush Girt condition provides maximum floor space as no space is provided between the columns and the exterior panels. A Bypass Girt condition attaches to the outside of the exterior columns and is typically the most economical option.

Mech Seam*

The Lean-To frame joins to, and is supported by, a main frame column. It is an economical way to extend or expand the square footage of an existing or new building. Leave the walls open to achieve a covered area.
