Introduction
This manual provides information for the Model QT-15 reciprocating compressor, per Record of Change 102. The Model QT-15 is an air-cooled, two-stage, four-cylinder, V-type, splash-lubricated compressor with up to 175 PSI continuous pressure capability. It features a 4.5" low-pressure bore and a 2.5" high-pressure bore, with a 3.5" stroke. This compressor can operate at 600-1150 RPM.
Available options include: head unloaders.
Changes since previous printing dated May 2002:
Redesigned crankcase, bearing carrier, and connecting rods, and implemented side-sealer (tapered edge) type piston rings.

Serial Number Identification
The unit serial number identification tag is located on the air tank top plate. The basic compressor serial number decal is located on the side of the crankcase opposite the oil fill side. Fill in the numbers from your compressor unit and basic compressor in the corresponding spaces provided here, and reference this page when ordering replacement parts.

Assembly Notes: Item 10 (Breather Tube) should be installed with SLIC-TITE or TEFLON TAPE. Item 14 screws require torque to 31 FT-LBS.

Assembly Notes: Apply LOCTITE 272 to the outer diameter of the bearing when assembling into the crankcase. Torque for the sheave is specified as 200 ft-lbs.

Assembly Notes: Ring gaps should be staggered. The 'PIP' mark indicates the top surface of the ring. Side sealer spring gaps should be positioned opposite mating ring gaps. Side sealer springs should be dished down (top groove) or up (second groove). Apply LOCTITE 242 at assembly and torque screw to 16-18 FT-LBS. Install in the lower hole for proper lubrication.

113321 Series Pilot Valve (Continuous Run Operation)

Suction Valve Unloader Assemblies
Description: The Quincy suction valve unloader assembly consists of unloading assemblies on the suction valves, having a plunger to contact the suction valve reed and an unloader pilot valve (113320 or 113321 series) to automatically regulate the passing of air tank pressure to the unloading arrangement.
Continuous Run Operation
Recommended for compressors that run continuously. Automatically unseats the suction valve when air supply exceeds demand. Unloading occurs when air tank pressure overcomes pilot valve spring pressure, allowing air tank pressure to pass to unloader assemblies. The compressor runs unloaded until air tank pressure drops to a predetermined level, at which point the ball action reverses, shutting off air to unloaders and venting them to atmosphere, allowing the compressor to load. The drive runs continuously and must be started/stopped manually. 113321 series pilot valves have a toggle lever for manual unloading.
Dual Control Operation
Provides a choice between "start/stop" or "continuous run" operation. The 113320 series pilot valve can be set for "start/stop" by turning the knurled knob clockwise until it stops. A pressure switch is required to stop the motor. Failure to use a pressure switch with the pilot valve locked out is unsafe.
WARNING! A pressure switch must be incorporated whenever 113320 series pilot valve is employed as part of the control system.
The compressor will operate in the continuous run mode if the knurled knob is turned counterclockwise until it stops.
Interstage Blowdown Valve
113320 & 113321 series pilot valves feature an interstage blowdown valve which bleeds interstage pressure to atmosphere when the compressor is running unloaded, reducing unloaded horsepower.
Installation
The pilot valve is mounted directly into the air tank. Compressors in the field can be converted by consulting a local Quincy distributor.
Service
If pilot valve operation changes, remove the pilot valve and check the screen in the inlet for obstructions. Clean the screen if necessary.
Adjustment
Unloading pressure is adjustable via the unload adjustment hex nut (clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease). Differential pressure (unloading vs. loading) is set by the differential adjustment hex nut (clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease). Make adjustments in small increments and tighten locknuts.

Standard Terms and Conditions
This section outlines the standard terms and conditions of Quincy Compressor. It covers legal effect, assignment, cancellation, payment terms, taxes, acceptance, delivery, title and lien rights, patent infringement, standard warranty, liability limitations, and environmental/OSHA requirements.
Legal Effect: Terms and conditions apply to orders unless otherwise agreed in writing. Buyer's purchase order terms are rejected if different.
Assignment: Rights are not assignable without Seller's written consent.
Cancellation/Alteration: Requires Seller's written consent and indemnification for losses. Buyer pays for additional costs due to changes.
Seller's Rights: Seller has all rights conferred by law and equity and can withhold performance if Buyer defaults.
Terms of Payment: Typically 1% 15, net 45 days after shipment. Seller may require full cash payment if Buyer's financial condition is poor or if Buyer delays shipment/completion. Interest applies to past due accounts (18% or lawful rate).
Taxes: Prices exclude taxes; Buyer is responsible unless included or exempted.
Acceptance: Offers are subject to final acceptance by Seller's authorized representative.
Delivery: Typically F.O.B. point of shipment. Seller uses discretion for shipping means. Transportation charges are Buyer's expense. Delivery time is an estimate.
Force Majeure: Seller is not liable for delays caused by fires, acts of God, strikes, labor difficulties, government acts, transportation delays, or other causes beyond Seller's control.
Title & Lien Rights: Equipment remains personal property until fully paid. Seller can repossess upon Buyer's default.
Patent Infringement: Seller will defend Buyer against infringement claims for standard equipment, excluding Buyer-specified designs, and pay awarded damages/costs.
Standard Warranty: Seller warrants its manufactured products against defects in workmanship and materials for the period specified in the manual (90 days for service parts). Warranties for third-party components are limited to the original manufacturer's warranty. Notice of defects must be given in writing within 30 days of discovery during the warranty period.
Seller's Obligation: At its option, Seller will repair, replace, or refund the purchase price of defective products/parts. Freight prepaid return for inspection may be required.
Warranty Exclusions: Does not cover consequential damages, wear and tear, misuse, neglect, improper storage, shipping damage, deviations from instructions, or labor for unauthorized repairs.
Liability Limitations: Seller's liability is limited to the purchase price for claims arising from contract, warranty, negligence, or negligent manufacture. No liability for liquidated, collateral, consequential, or special damages, or loss of profits/production.
Environmental and OSHA Requirements: Quincy Compressor complies with applicable laws at shipment. Seller assumes no responsibility for compliance in installation and operation.
