Safety Precautions
Special attention should be paid when using this test and measurement instrument, as improper usage may cause electric shock and damage the equipment.
- Use proper measurement category (CAT), voltage, and amperage rated probes, test leads, and adapters for the measurement.
- Do not use or store the device around explosive gas, vapor, or under high temperature and humidity.
- When handling the test probes and crocodile clips, keep your fingers behind the physical guard.
- Examine the measuring test leads (if present) before use. If any element's insulation is deteriorated (even partially), replace them with proper functional test leads.
- Connect the common test lead before the live test lead and remove the live test lead before the common test lead.
- Before measuring current, ensure the instrument has available fuses and disconnect the power supply to the circuit being tested.
- Remove the batteries if the device is not used for an extended period of time, or if stored in temperatures above 45 °C. If batteries are not removed, battery leakage can damage the device.
Product Description
The MASTECH MS6013 is a digital LCR meter designed for measuring inductance, capacitance, and resistance. This Quick Start Guide covers its basic operation and specifications.
The device features a digital display showing readings up to 1.8.8.8. It has a rotary dial for selecting measurement functions and ranges, and input terminals for connecting test leads and components.
Specifications
Range | Resolution | Accuracy |
---|---|---|
200pF | 0.1pF | ±(0.5%+1) |
2nF/20nF/200nF | 1pF/10pF/100pF | ±(0.5%+1) |
2µF/20µF/200µF | 1nF/0.01µF/0.1µF | ±(0.5%+1) |
2000µF | 1µF | ±(1.0%+1) |
20mF | 10µF | ±(2.0%+2) |
Basic Operation
Follow these steps to measure capacitance:
- Select Range: Turn the rotary dial to the desired capacitance range (e.g., 200pF, 2nF, 20nF, 200nF, 2µF, 20µF, 200µF, 2000µF, 20mF) or to the OFF position.
- Connect Component: Connect the test leads to the 'Cx' and 'ZERO ADJ' terminals, observing polarity (positive and negative). Then, connect the component to be measured to the other ends of the test leads.
- Read Measurement: The measured value will be displayed on the digital screen, typically in microfarads (µF) for capacitance measurements. The example shows a reading of 135.2 µF.
