Step 1: Which Sink Base Cabinet do you have?
This sink base tip out organizer set will work on sink cabinets that have either (2) 14.5" (36.8 cm) or larger openings or (1) 32.5" (82.6 cm) or larger opening. Depending on the type of sink base cabinet you have, this will also determine how many hinges you will use.
Figure 1: Shows two sink panel applications (14.5" opening) and one sink panel application (32.5" opening) with associated hardware.
Step 2: Preparing your Panel(s)
Using a pencil, reach up underneath the sink to trace a light line around the opening to create a template. Ensure the template is used to attach panels straight. Once the line is traced, remove the panel(s). Indicate the top of the door by marking a “T”.
Figure 2: Illustrates tracing the opening with a pencil and marking the top of the door panel with a “T”.
Note: The cabinet door/panel needs to be removed for accurate measurement. Determine the best way to remove them for your specific cabinet manufacturer.
Step 3: Soft-close dampener options
The included soft-close dampeners are designed with enough force that only one dampener is required per set of hinges. Measure to ensure at least 3 inches of clearance on one side of the opening; this will be the side where the soft-close dampener is mounted.
Figure 3: Shows a side view of the sink panel with 3" clearance indicated for dampener mounting.
Note: Ensure the hinge is not obstructed by the sink.
Step 4: Mounting the dampener
Follow the illustrations to mount your dampener.
Figures 4A, 4B, and 4C: Illustrate the process of mounting the dampener to the hinge.
Note: Extending the arm of the hinge will make installing the dampener easier.
Step 5: Preparing hinge mounting to frame of cabinet
With the panel(s) removed, begin installation by cutting out the templates on page 6. Use the hinge template, place it as shown, and mark the hole locations. Repeat for each hinge. Once holes are marked, pre-drill two 3/32" pilot holes per hinge into the cabinet frame.
Figure 5: Shows using the hinge template to mark holes on the cabinet frame and pre-drilling pilot holes.
Step 6: Preparing extension template for door panel(s)
Using the lines traced in Step 2, align the extension template with the corner of each traced line. Mark the holes and pre-drill two 3/32" pilot holes per side of the door panel(s).
Figure 6: Illustrates aligning the extension template on the door panel and pre-drilling holes.
Note: When pre-drilling into the door panel(s), ensure you do NOT drill through the panel.
Step 7: Preparing sink front trays
Use the “T” marking to indicate the top of the panel(s) and the traced line from Step 2 as a guide. Lay the tip-out tray on the line as shown. Mark and pre-drill two 3/32" pilot holes in the center of the keyholes.
Figure 7: Shows positioning the tip-out tray on the panel and marking for pilot holes.
Note: When pre-drilling into the door panel(s), ensure you do NOT drill through the panel.
Step 8: Attaching hinges and trays
Using the four provided #8x1/2" screws, attach the hinges to the panel(s) as shown. Then, use two of the same screws to attach the tip-out tray to the door panel. Do not screw them in completely; leave some space behind the screw so the trays can slide into the keyhole.
Figures 8A, 8B, and 8C: Illustrate attaching hinges to the panel and then attaching the tip-out tray with screws, leaving space for sliding.
Step 9: Installing hinges
Using the provided #8x5/8" screws, attach your hinges to the frame. It may be necessary to have someone hold the panel while attaching.
Figure 9: Shows attaching the hinges to the cabinet frame.
Attach your trays, and your installation is complete.
Figure 10: Shows the completed installation of the tip-out trays.
Notes
Testing your sink base accessory: Depending on the application, you may have an extra set of hinges. Test your new tip-out hinges. If the door is not closing as softly as desired, uninstall one hinge and attach the other dampener to remedy the issue.
