General Battery Usage and Safety

For correct use, maintenance, and storage of the battery, read and understand all instructions in this manual.

To avoid serious injury, fire hazards, explosions, and severe electrical shock:

  • If the battery pack casing is cracked or damaged, DO NOT insert it into the charger. Replace with a new battery pack.
  • DO NOT charge these battery packs with any other type of charger.
  • DO NOT attempt to short-circuit the battery pack terminals.

⚠️ WARNINGS

  • If battery liquid gets into eyes, wash immediately with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Do not charge the battery pack in rain or humid conditions. Do not immerse the tool, battery pack, or charger in water or other liquids.
  • Do not allow the battery pack or charger to overheat. If they are hot, let them cool down. Charge only at ambient temperature.
  • Do not place the battery pack in direct sunlight or in a hot environment. Always keep at ambient temperature.
  • If the battery will not be charged for a long period, always store it in a shaded, cool, and dry place; charge the battery for 2 hours every 2 months.
  • Battery pack cells may develop small leaks if overused or exposed to extreme temperatures. If the outer seal breaks and liquid comes into contact with skin:
    • Wash immediately with soap and water.
    • Neutralize with lemon juice, vinegar, or other mild acids.
  • If liquid comes into contact with eyes, follow the above instructions and seek medical attention.
  • Before use, check that the charger's output voltage and current are suitable for charging the battery pack.

Check Battery Capacity

Press the battery capacity indicator button (BCI - battery capacity indicator). The lights will illuminate according to the battery's capacity level. See the diagram below:

Battery Capacity Indicator: A button is shown, and below it are four LED lights. The text describes the capacity levels: 4 green lights indicate fully charged; 3 green lights indicate 70% charged; 2 green lights indicate 45% charged; 1 green light indicates 10% charged and requires recharge; no lights indicate less than 10% charged and requires immediate recharge.

Safety and Precautions

  1. Do not disassemble the battery.
  2. Keep away from children.
  3. Do not expose the battery to water or saltwater; store it in a cool, dry place and environment.
  4. Do not place the battery in excessively hot locations, such as near a fire or radiator, etc.
  5. Do not reverse the battery's negative and positive terminals.
  6. Do not connect the battery's positive and negative terminals with other metallic objects.
  7. Do not strike, drop, or step on the battery.
  8. Do not perform welding operations on the battery, nor pierce it with nails or other sharp objects.
  9. If the battery leaks liquid that comes into contact with eyes, do not rub them. Wash with water. Stop using the battery if it emits unusual odors, overheats, changes color or shape, or has an abnormal appearance.

Eco-compatible Battery Disposal

All toxic materials must be disposed of properly to prevent environmental contamination. Before disposing of damaged or broken lithium-ion battery packs, contact your local waste disposal agency or the local Environmental Protection Agency for relevant information and specific instructions. Take batteries to a certified recycling/disposal center for lithium-ion materials.

Charging Procedure

NOTE: The battery is not shipped fully charged. It is recommended to charge it before use to ensure maximum charge time. Lithium-ion batteries do not develop memory and can be recharged at any time.

  1. Connect the charger to an AC outlet.
  2. Insert the battery pack (1) into the charger (2).

This is a diagnostic charger. The LED indicator lights on the charger (3) will illuminate in a specific sequence to communicate the battery's current status. Battery charging status by lights:

Charger and LED Indicators: A diagram shows a Greenworks charger with numbered parts: 1 (Battery), 2 (Charger), 3 (LED Indicator). A table details LED states: RED/RED (Battery Charging), RED/GREEN (Fully Charged), RED/ORANGE (Battery Overheated: Remove for approx. 30 minutes to cool down), RED/OFF (Battery Absent), RED/FLASHING RED (Defective Battery: Remove and replace with a new battery).

False Error Indication: When the battery is inserted into the charger and the status LED flashes, remove the battery from the charger for 1 minute, then reinsert it. If the LED status indicates normal, the battery pack is functioning. If the LED status device still flashes, remove the battery pack and disconnect the charger. Wait 1 minute, reconnect the charger, and reinsert the battery pack. If the LED status device indicates normal, the battery pack is functioning. If the LED status device still flashes, the battery pack is defective and must be replaced.

Charger Mounting

  1. This charger can be wall-mounted using two screws (not included).
  2. Identify the location where the charger will be mounted on the wall.
  3. For mounting on wood, use 2 suitable screws.
  4. For chargers 2910907 / 29417 / 29447: Drill two holes 2 3/8" (6 cm) apart at the center, ensuring they are level.
  5. For charger 2924107: Drill two holes 5 3/4" (14.5cm) apart at the center, ensuring they are level.
  6. For mounting on drywall, use wall anchors and screws to secure the charger to the wall.

Checking Charge / Troubleshooting

If the battery pack is not charging correctly:

  • Check the output current with another tool. Ensure the plug is not off.
  • Check that the charger contacts have not been short-circuited by debris or other materials.

If the ambient air temperature is not normal, move the charger and battery pack to a location where the temperature is between 7°C and 40°C.

⚠️ WARNING: If the battery is inserted into the charger when it is hot or overheated, the LED indicator light on the charger may turn on and illuminate ORANGE. If this occurs, allow the battery to cool outside the charger for about 30 minutes.

Charger LED Indicators (2924107)

Charger 2924107 LEDs: A diagram shows the 2924107 charger with numbered parts. A table details LED states: SPIA 1 (LED 1) / SPIA 2 (LED 2) -> Status. RED/OFF -> STANDBY. RED/FLASHING GREEN -> CHARGING. RED/GREEN -> FULLY CHARGED. RED/OFF -> HIGH TEMP. FLASHING RED/FLASHING GREEN -> ERROR.

Incorrect Fault Detection: After inserting the battery into the charger, if SPIA 1 flashes RED and SPIA 2 flashes GREEN, remove the battery from the charger for 1 minute, then reinsert it. If the lights indicate no problems, the battery pack is functioning correctly. If the lights continue to flash, remove the battery pack and disconnect the charger from the power outlet. Wait 1 minute, reconnect the charger to the power outlet, and reinsert the battery pack. If the lights indicate no problems, the battery pack is functioning correctly. If the lights continue to flash, the battery pack is defective and must be replaced.

Detachable Power Cord

NOTE: If the battery and charger will not be used for a long period, remove the battery from the charger and disconnect the AC cable.

The charger's power cords are detachable. They can be removed from the charger and used interchangeably. (See figure below)

Detachable Power Cords: Diagrams show interchangeable power cords for chargers 2910907 and 2924107.

Important Safety Instructions

  1. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. DANGER: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
  2. Confirm the available voltage in each country before using the charger.
  3. If the plug shape does not match the outlet, use an adapter for the outlet with the correct shape corresponding to the plug.
