Presentation
This device is the Lexibook D650EN English Dictionary with Thesaurus. It features a QWERTY keyboard, a display screen, and several function keys including SYN (Display synonyms), CONJ (Display conjugations), LIST (Memo-list), and INDX (Alphabetical index). Ancillary functions include Display, LCD contrast, Games, Calculator, Currency converter, Metric converter, and Clock.
Key functions and buttons:
- [On/Off button]: Accesses the device or turns it off.
- [SYN button]: Displays synonyms.
- [CONJ button]: Displays conjugations.
- [LIST button]: Accesses the memo-list.
- [INDX button]: Accesses the alphabetical index.
- [ECH key]: Deletes the last character typed or clears the screen.
- [ENTER key]: Confirms a choice or displays a definition.
- [SHIFT key]: Types capital letters.

The keyboard layout is QWERTY. Numerical keys are used for the calculator and conversion modes. Operating keys are used for calculator functions.
Battery Information
The Lexibook D650EN operates with one CR2032, 3V battery (included).
Battery Replacement:
- Unscrew the screw on the battery compartment located on the back of the device.
- Remove the old battery and insert the new battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the compartment and screw it back on.
Adjust screen contrast using the [arrow keys] and [ENTER key] if necessary.
Note: Removing the battery will permanently delete all stored data and settings.
Important Battery Safety Notes: Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. Rechargeable batteries must be removed before charging and charged under adult supervision. Do not mix battery types or new and used batteries. Use only recommended battery types. Insert batteries with correct polarity. Remove exhausted batteries. Do not short-circuit terminals. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Remove batteries if the product will not be used for a long period. Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat.
Warning: Malfunctions or memory loss may occur due to interference or electrostatic discharge. Reset the unit or replace the battery if abnormal function occurs.
Warning: Packaging materials are not part of the product and must be discarded.
Getting Started
Before first use, remove the plastic battery protection on the back of the device.
- Press the [On/Off button] to switch on.
- Press the [On/Off button] again to turn off.
Note: The device automatically switches off after 5 minutes of inactivity. It will display the last active screen upon restart.
Resetting the Device: If the device does not turn on, responds incorrectly, or the screen display is not smooth, locate the [RESET button] on the back and press it gently with a paperclip or sharp object. Warning: All saved data and parameters will be permanently deleted.
LCD Contrast
Adjust screen brightness:
- Press the [Menu key] to display secondary functions.
- Use the [arrow keys] to select "Contrast screen".
- Press [ENTER key] to confirm.
- Use the [arrow keys] to increase or decrease contrast.
- Press [ENTER key] to confirm.
Press the [ECH key] to return to dictionary mode.
Note: If contrast decreases sharply even at maximum setting, replace the battery.
Display Format
The Dictionary offers two display formats: Normal and Zoom.
- Press the [Menu key]. The "Display Format" option is selected.
- Press [ENTER key] to confirm. The current display format (default: Normal) is selected.
- Press [arrow keys] to select the desired mode (Normal or Zoom) and press [ENTER key]. The display format updates immediately.
Dictionary
Enter a word
- To return to dictionary mode, press the [ECH key]. The screen displays "Enter a word."
- Type the word and press [ENTER key] for its definition.
- To correct a typo, press [ECH key] to delete the last character, or use [arrow keys] to position the cursor and insert characters. Press [ECH key] again to erase everything.
- The dictionary checks spelling. If correct, the definition is displayed.
- If misspelled, a list of corrections is suggested. Use [arrow keys] to scroll through suggestions.
- Select the correct word and press [ENTER key] for its definition.
- To type a capital letter, press the [SHIFT key] once before the desired letter.
Definition
- The selected word appears in bold, the grammatical category in italics.
- For long definitions, use [arrow keys] to scroll through lines.
- If a word has multiple meanings, a symbol is displayed. Press the [arrow key] to see other definitions.
Press [ECH key] to return to the previous word.
Press [ECH key] again to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Hypertext
Search for definitions of words within a displayed definition.
- Once a definition is displayed, press [ENTER key] to select the first word.
- Use [arrow keys] to move the selection to the desired word.
- Press [ENTER key] to display its definition.
Press [ECH key] to return to the original definition.
Press [ECH key] repeatedly to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Thesaurus
- Once a definition is displayed, press the [SYN button] to show a list of synonyms.
- Use [arrow keys] to scroll through the list.
- To see the definition of a synonym, select it and press [ENTER key].
Press [ECH key] to return to the synonym list.
Press [ECH key] repeatedly to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Conjugation
The device conjugates verbs in four tenses: simple present, simple past, present participle, and past participle.
- On the "Enter a word" screen, type the verb and press [ENTER key] for its definition.
- If the verb is also a noun, press [SYN button] and [CONJ button] to search and display the verb's definition.
- Press the [CONJ button] to display the simple present conjugation.
- Use the [arrow keys] to see the rest of the conjugation.
Press [ECH key] to return to the verb's definition.
Press [ECH key] multiple times to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Index
Flip through the dictionary alphabetically.
- On the "Enter a word" screen, type the first letter(s) or a word and press the [INDX button] to display the alphabetical list.
- Use [arrow keys] to scroll through the dictionary entries.
- Select a word and press [ENTER key] to see its definition.
Press [ECH key] to return to the alphabetical list.
Press [ECH key] multiple times to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Games
The dictionary includes three games: Hangman, Jumble, and Anagrams.
Hangman
- Press the [Menu key] to access ancillary functions.
- Use [arrow keys] to select "Games".
- Press [ENTER key]. The list of games appears; "HANGMAN" is selected. Press [ENTER key] again.
- Enter the desired word length (3-13 letters) using [arrow keys].
- Press [ENTER key] to confirm.
- The screen shows question marks for letters. You have 9 guesses.
- Enter letters using their keys. Correct letters fill the blanks. Incorrect letters trigger a warning, and guesses decrease. Repeated letters are noted.
- Win by guessing the word before running out of guesses. The correct word is displayed if you lose.
- After a game, choose "Another Game?" (Y to replay, N to exit).
- Press [ENTER key] to display the definition of the guessed word.
Press [ECH key] to quit the current game and get the answer.
Press [ECH key] repeatedly to return to the game list.
Press [ECH key] to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Jumble
- Press the [Menu key] to access ancillary functions.
- Use [arrow keys] to select "Games".
- Press [ENTER key]. Select "JUMBLE" from the list using [arrow keys] and press [ENTER key].
- Enter the desired word length (3-13 letters) using [arrow keys].
- Press [ENTER key] to confirm and start the game.
- The screen displays scrambled letters and question marks for the word. You have 9 guesses.
- Type your guessed word and press [ENTER key].
- If incorrect, you lose a guess. Press [arrow keys] to change letters.
- Win by guessing the word before running out of guesses. The correct word is displayed if you lose.
- After a game, choose "Another Game?" (Y to replay, N to exit).
- Press [ENTER key] to display the definition of the guessed word.
Press [ECH key] to quit the current game and get the answer.
Press [ECH key] repeatedly to return to the game list.
Press [ECH key] to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Anagrams
- Press the [Menu key] to access ancillary functions.
- Use [arrow keys] to select "Games".
- Press [ENTER key]. Select "ANAGRAMS" from the list using [arrow keys] and press [ENTER key].
- The screen displays "Type letters".
- Enter the letters for which you want anagrams and press [ENTER key].
- If multiple anagrams exist, a list is displayed. Use [arrow keys] to select an anagram word and press [ENTER key] to see its definition.
Press [ECH key] to quit the current game and get the answer.
Press [ECH key] repeatedly to return to the game list.
Press [ECH key] to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Calculator
The calculator offers two display formats: Simple and Paperless.
The Simple display shows large numbers for better readability and is the default mode.
- Press the [Menu key] to access ancillary functions.
- Use [arrow keys] to select "Calculator".
- Press [ENTER key]. Select "Simple mode" or "Paperless mode" and press [ENTER key] to confirm.
- Use the number and function keys to perform operations. Press [ECH key] to clear the screen.
- To exit the calculator, press the [ECH key] or another button to return to a desired menu.
Note: To enter a negative number, type the amount, then press the [SHIFT key] to type the sign "-".
Currency Converter
This function converts between two currencies.
- Press [Menu key] and select "Currency converter".
- To input the conversion rate, press [arrow keys] until the rate flashes. Enter the rate and press [ENTER key].
- To convert currency A to currency B, highlight currency A (indicated by an [arrow icon]) and input the sum. The conversion for currency B is displayed instantly.
- To convert currency B to currency A, highlight currency B and input the sum. The conversion for currency A is displayed instantly.
Unit Converter
The device supports various unit conversions:

Using the Unit Converter:
- Press [ENTER key]. The current unit is highlighted. Press [arrow keys] to change units and press [ENTER key] to confirm.
- Pressing [ENTER key] twice displays the conversion rate. Press [ECH key] to return to the unit converter.
- Use [arrow keys] to select the unit for input. Type the value; the conversion will be shown immediately.
Crossword / Missing Letters Resolution
Use the `?` character to replace unknown letters and `*` to replace a series of letters for crossword puzzles or specific word searches.
Example: To find a 4-letter word starting with 'c', ending with 'd', with the fourth letter 't', type `c?ct?d` and press [ENTER key].
The device will display matching words. Use [arrow keys] to scroll through results. Press [ENTER key] to see a definition.
Press [ECH key] to return to the alphabetical list.
Press [ECH key] repeatedly to return to the "Enter a word" screen.
Note: If no match is found, a "Not in the list" message appears.

Access help by pressing the [Help button]. The device displays a list of help topics:

Maintenance
Keep the device away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, humidity, and dust. Do not drop the device. Clean only with a soft, dry cloth; avoid detergents, cleaning agents, or solvents. Do not twist or attempt to open the casing.
Warranty
This product is covered by a 2-year warranty, excluding LCD screen breakage.
For warranty claims or after-sales service, contact your distributor with proof of purchase. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but not damage from non-observance of the manual or careless handling (dismantling, exposure to heat/humidity, etc.). Keep packaging for reference.
