Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Ruud EcoNet Smart Thermostat. This easy-to-use programmable thermostat works with Ruud HVAC systems and water heaters, providing on-screen information when you're home and complete control when you're away. It's smart enough to alert you when an issue is detected, yet easy to use with a simple touchscreen interface. It has built-in WiFi, so you can monitor your system and adjust temperatures and schedules while on-the-go for optimum convenience, comfort, and savings.

Notes: WiFi broadband internet connection required. Download the EcoNet App from the App Store or Google Play to set up your EcoNet Smart Thermostat. Home Screen Overview
The home screen provides a comprehensive view of your home's climate control:
- Weather: Displays the current outdoor temperature. Touch to see the weather forecast.
- Brand Logo: Touch to input your contractor's information.
- Messaging Bar: Displays important messages or alerts.
- One-Touch Away: Activates your Away settings; touch again to return to previous settings.
- Indoor Temperature: Shows the current temperature inside your home.
- Menu Options: Navigates to the Menu where you can change basic settings, customize your schedule, and more.
- Alerts: Indicates an important reminder, minor alert, or critical alarm; touch for additional details.
- WiFi Signal: Shows current WiFi signal strength; touch to get connected.
- Humidity: Displays the current relative humidity in your home; touch to configure your preference.
- Motion Sensor: Detects motion to wake the display.
- Temperature Adjustment: Allows you to adjust the target temperature.
- System Mode: Navigates to the Mode selection screen.

Getting Started Is Easy:
- Have your new EcoNet Smart Thermostat installed.
- Download the EcoNet app and create your account.
- Touch the WiFi icon on your thermostat.
- Follow the steps on your thermostat and app to complete setup.

Before Installation Begins
Failure to read and follow all instructions carefully could cause personal injury and/or property damage.
NOTE: All wiring must comply with national, state, and local codes.
Mounting Recommendations:
- Install thermostat on an interior wall approximately 5 feet above the floor.
- Place away from drafts or direct sunlight.
- Do not install behind doors or other objects.
Electrical Specification:
- Input Voltage: 22 VAC to 26 VAC (24 VAC typical)
- AC Line Frequency: 50/60 Hz
- WiFi: 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz
Wiring Diagram
Use 18 AWG or larger for normal wiring applications. Four wires are required.
Wire units in a "daisy chain" and not in a "star" configuration. The order of the devices in the network is not specified except the EcoNet Smart Thermostat should be at one end of the network.

Installation Steps
- Turn off power: WARNING: Turn off power to HVAC system at circuit breaker.
- Place ferrite toroid (if provided) around thermostat wires and nest in drywall. (See interior view of wall diagram).
- Secure the wall plate: Use the dry wall anchors and screws provided. Tip: Ensure the back plate is straight by centering the bubble on the built-in level.
- Connect wires to the thermostat terminal: Note the wire color used for each terminal; it's good practice to use the same wire color on identical termination points on the indoor and outdoor units. Tip: When installed correctly, the release lever of the terminal block will lower to indicate engagement.
- Attach display to mounted wall plate.
- Turn power on: Power system back on and let the EcoNet Smart Thermostat auto-configure your equipment.
