Charging the iBT36

For first time use, charge the internal battery for about 8 hours. Connect the included USB charging cable to the USB power in port and a powered USB port. The Battery Charge Indicator light will glow solid red or flash green while charging, and solid green when fully charged.

Quick Battery Status Check

While operating on the internal battery, press any button to check the battery charge status.

ECO Battery Mode

ECO Battery Mode allows for extended battery life (up to 11 hours). In ECO mode, volume decreases slightly as the battery discharges. Set the ECO Battery Mode Switch to On for ECO Mode, or Off for normal listening.

Turning the Unit ON and OFF

1. Press the Power Button to turn the unit ON. The green/red battery status and blue Bluetooth status LEDs will light, and ascending tones will sound.
2. Press the Power Button to turn the unit OFF. Descending tones will sound.

Note: If no audio is detected for 15 minutes, the unit will power off automatically to save battery life.

Using Bluetooth: Pairing Your Device

1. Turn on your Bluetooth-enabled device and its Bluetooth capability.
2. Press the Power Button to turn the unit ON. The unit enters auto pairing mode, indicated by ascending tones and a flashing blue indicator light. "iHome iBT36" should appear on your device's menu. If prompted, select "iHome iBT36" to begin pairing. If your device asks for a password, enter 1234. If no device is paired within 3 minutes, the unit reverts to its previous state.
3. If auto-pairing fails or you want to pair with a different device, ensure the unit is powered on and press and hold the Pairing Button for 2 seconds. The unit will attempt to pair, indicated by a flashing blue light. If "Not Paired" or similar appears, select "iHome iBT36" on your device. Enter 1234 if prompted for a password. Repeat step 3 to retry pairing.
4. Once paired, the blue indicator light will glow steadily, and a confirmation tone will sound. Your device should indicate pairing is complete. You may need to select "Use as Audio Device (stereo)" on your device's Bluetooth menu. Your device should link to the iBT36 whenever it is powered on and within range.

Pairing with a Different Device

When powered ON, the speaker automatically links with the previously paired Bluetooth device if it is within range (approx. 33 feet). To pair with a different device, follow step 3 above.

Playing Audio Via Bluetooth

1. Press the Power Button to turn on the unit. The light flashes blue, and ascending tones sound as the unit searches for a previously paired device. The light turns solid blue when a device is detected. You can then listen to audio streamed wirelessly from your paired Bluetooth device.
2. Press the Play/Pause Button (►II) to play or pause audio.
3. Press the Previous Track Button (◄◄) to go to the start of a track or play the previous track. Press the Next Track Button (►►) to advance to the next track. Press and hold ◄◄ or ►► for rapid search backwards or forwards within a track.
4. Press the - Button or + Button to adjust the volume. Press and hold for rapid volume change. Volume can also be adjusted on your device.
5. When finished listening, press the Power Button to turn the unit OFF. Remember to turn off your audio device as well.

Using the Speakerphone feature

NOTE: The unit must be powered on and a Bluetooth phone must be linked to use the speakerphone.

1. When a call is received, music is muted to hear the ring tone. Press the Talk Button (end call) to answer, or press the End Button (talk) to ignore. For call waiting, press the Talk Button to place a currently active call on hold and answer a new call. Press the Talk Button again to switch between calls.
2. When a call is completed, press the End Button to end the call and resume the previous function.

Playing Audio via Aux In

1. Connect one end of a standard 3.5mm stereo audio cable (not included) to the Aux in jack on the side of the unit (under the waterproof cover) and connect the other end to the headphone or line-out jack on your audio device.
2. Press the Power Button to turn the unit on.
3. Power on the audio device and use its controls to play or pause audio and navigate tracks.
4. Press the - Button or + Button to adjust the volume. Press and hold for rapid volume change. Volume can also be adjusted on your device.
5. When done listening, press the Power Button to turn the unit OFF. Remember to turn off your audio device too.

Note: Do not play a Bluetooth device while an aux in device is playing, or you will not hear the aux in audio.

Charging Devices via USB Out Port

NOTE: The iBT36 will only charge devices when operating on the internal battery (not connected to a power source via the USB POWER IN port). The unit must be powered ON to charge devices via the USB Out Port. To charge devices via USB while operating on the internal battery, it is recommended that the unit be fully charged first. The iBT36 will not charge external devices via USB when the internal rechargeable battery is too low (red indicator is blinking). To save battery power, USB charging is limited to 1 hour when no audio is playing.

1. Lift the waterproof cover on the side of the unit to expose the USB Out Port.
2. Connect the standard size end of a USB cable (not included) to the USB Out Port and connect the other end to the charging port on your device.
3. Press the Power Button to turn the unit on.
4. Some devices require more power than the 1 Amp the USB Out Port provides. Monitor the charging progress on your device. If your device does not charge, use the charger that came with it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT WATERPROOF OPERATION

For proper waterproof operation, ensure the waterproof cover on the left side of the unit is completely flush by pressing along the entire edge until it is completely and securely in place.

• The unit is IP67 waterproof rated, immersible for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter (3 feet). It withstands rain, snow, and shallow water. Longer duration or deeper immersion may cause product failure and void the warranty.
• DO NOT immerse the unit in water for extended periods.
• DO NOT immerse the unit in water deeper than 1 meter (about 3 feet).
• Ensure the cover and surrounding surfaces are completely dry before opening the cover to prevent moisture damage to internal electronics.
• Keep the rubber cover free of dirt, sand, or other objects that could interfere with proper sealing. If the cover is not making a tight seal, water may enter the unit.
• Rinse with tap water after immersion in salt water or a swimming pool.
• DO NOT clean the unit with oily soaps or chemicals or solvents. Clean with a damp cloth.

Maintenance

• Place the unit on a level surface away from direct sunlight or excessive heat.
• Protect furniture by placing a cloth or other protective material between the unit and natural wood or lacquered finishes.
• Clean the unit with a soft cloth moistened with mild soap and water. Avoid strong cleaning agents like thinner. Rinse with tap water and wipe dry after submersion in salt water or swimming pool.

Long-term Storage of Your Product

• Store in a cool, dry place.
• Charge the unit before storing.
• If stored for a long period, the unit may be unresponsive until charged for several hours.
• Do not store for more than a year without charging, as this can permanently harm the battery.
• After long-term storage, if the unit is unresponsive after charging, reset it while connected to AC and recharge.

Internal Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery

This device uses an internal, non-replaceable rechargeable lithium-ion battery. If you suspect the battery is dead, try charging it for an extended period and resetting the unit. Contact Customer Service at 1-800-288-2792 if problems persist.

WARNING/DISPOSAL OF UNIT

Do NOT attempt to change the battery, as this will void the warranty and may cause injury or damage.

To dispose of the unit:

• Never dispose of used batteries/electronics with regular waste, as they contain toxic substances.
• Always dispose of used batteries/electronics according to community regulations.
• Many electronics retailers recycle batteries and electronic components for free.

GENERAL BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

• Never use or charge a battery if it appears to be leaking, discolored, deformed, or abnormal.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When used as directed, this unit is designed and manufactured for personal safety. However, improper use can result in electrical shock or fire hazards. Read all safety and operating instructions carefully before use, and keep them handy for future reference. Note all warnings on the unit and in these instructions.

1. Water and Moisture – This unit is rated IP67 (withstands submersion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter (3 feet)), but should not be operated underwater. It is also dustproof.
   • Waterproof door cover must be properly sealed before use near water.
   • Dry unit completely before opening waterproof door cover.
   • Do NOT open waterproof door cover if wet or in a wet environment.
2. Ventilation - The unit should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. For example, it should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that may block ventilation openings.
3. Heat – The unit should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
4. Power Sources – The unit should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance.
5. Power-Cable Protection – Power supply cables should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them. It is always best to have a clear area from where the cable exits the unit to where it is plugged into an AC socket.

Troubleshooting

Unit doesn't respond (no power)

• Check that all connections are correct and properly plugged in.
• For internal battery operation, ensure the unit is fully charged.
• Make sure your device is properly paired with the iBT36.
• Ensure the Power is ON.

Unit doesn't respond

• If the unit appears to be "frozen" or locked up, or hasn't been used in a long time, you may need to reset it. Use a straightened paperclip, toothpick, or similar to press the reset button located under the waterproof cover on the side of the unit. Power on the unit following a reset. If the unit hasn't been used in a long time, charge it for several hours before attempting to reset.

• If pairing fails, try again by powering on the unit and then pressing and holding the Pairing Button on the top of the unit for 2 seconds.
