Operation

How to Plug In the Power Cord

Use a Surge Suppressor: Protect your treadmill from voltage changes by using a UL 1449 listed surge suppressor (TVSS) with a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules. Ensure it is rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps and has a monitoring light.

Grounding: The treadmill must be grounded. The power cord has a grounding pin. Plug the cord into a surge suppressor, and the suppressor into a properly installed and grounded 120-volt outlet (15 amps minimum). Do not plug other devices into the surge suppressor, except for low-power devices like phone chargers.

Adapters: If a properly grounded outlet is unavailable, a temporary adapter may be used, but it must be connected to a permanent ground. Consult a qualified electrician before using an adapter.

How to Use the Treadmill

Console Features: The advanced console offers features for effective and enjoyable workouts. In manual mode, you can change speed and incline with buttons. The console displays exercise feedback. A compatible heart rate monitor can be used for monitoring heart rate.

iFIT Integration: The console features wireless technology to connect to iFIT. iFIT workouts automatically control speed and incline, guided by trainers. An iFIT subscription provides access to thousands of on-demand workouts, custom workout creation, and progress tracking.

Console Operation

  • Turning On: Plug in the power cord. Press the power switch to the reset position. Stand on the foot rails. Attach the safety clip to your waistband. Insert the key into the console. Allow a few minutes for the console to be ready.
  • Safety Key: In an emergency, pulling the key stops the walking belt. Test the clip's security.
  • Console Settings: Speed and distance can be displayed in miles or kilometers. See page 24 for changing settings.
  • Turning Off: Remove the key, press the power switch to the off position, and unplug the power cord to prevent premature wear of electrical components.
  • Touch Screen: Functions like a tablet. Slide/flick to navigate. Not pressure sensitive. Use text box prompts for typing, numbers, and characters. Clear last character with the clear button.
  • Console Setup: Connect to a wireless network, customize settings (units, time zone), and log into or create an iFIT account.
  • Firmware Updates: Check for and install firmware updates via Settings > Maintenance > Update for improved performance.

Workout Modes

  • Manual Mode: Insert key, select home screen, touch 'Start Workout' or press the Start button. The belt starts at a low speed. Adjust speed and incline using console buttons or on-screen sliders. Follow progress by viewing display modes. Pause/end workout by stepping onto foot rails and pressing Stop or using screen options.
  • Featured Workouts: Requires wireless network connection. Select from the home screen or workout library. Workouts may include video guidance and automatically adjust speed/incline. You can save favorite workouts.

  • Headphones: Connect Bluetooth headphones by turning them on, placing them in pairing mode near the console, starting a workout, and selecting them from the screen.

Folding and Moving

How to Fold the Treadmill

To avoid damage, adjust incline to 0% before folding. Remove the key and unplug the power cord. You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to move the treadmill.

  1. Hold the metal frame (A) firmly and bend your legs, keeping your back straight.
  2. Raise the frame until the storage latch (B) locks securely in the storage position.

How to Move the Treadmill

Ensure the storage latch is locked. Moving requires two people. Take measures to avoid floor damage.

  1. Hold the frame (A) and a handrail (C). Place one foot against a wheel (D).
  2. Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill rolls on the wheels. Move it to the desired location. Do not move without tipping it back, pulling on the frame, or over uneven surfaces.
  3. Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill.

How to Lower the Treadmill for Use

  1. Push the upper end of the frame forward and press the storage latch with your foot.
  2. While pressing the latch, pull the frame toward yourself.
  3. Step back and let the frame lower to the floor.

To protect floors, place a mat under the treadmill. Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight. Do not leave it in storage in temperatures above 85°F (30°C).

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and reduces wear. Inspect and tighten all parts each time. Replace worn parts immediately with manufacturer-supplied parts.

Clean the treadmill and walking belt regularly. First, turn off the power switch and unplug the cord. Wipe exterior parts with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not spray liquids directly onto the treadmill. Keep liquids away from the console. Thoroughly dry with a soft towel.

Troubleshooting

Symptom: The power does not turn on

  • Ensure the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and the suppressor into a grounded outlet.
  • Verify the safety key is inserted into the console.
  • Check the power switch on the frame. If it has tripped (protrudes), wait five minutes and press it back in.

Symptom: The power turns off during use

  • Check the power switch; if tripped, wait five minutes and reset.
  • Ensure the power cord is plugged in. If so, unplug, wait five minutes, and plug back in.
  • Remove and reinsert the console key.
  • If the treadmill still does not run, contact Member Care.

Symptom: The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly

  • Calibrate the incline system (see page 25, step 7).

Symptom: The treadmill will not connect to the wireless network

  • Verify wireless settings on the console are correct (page 25).
  • Ensure your wireless network settings are correct.
  • If issues persist, visit my.iFIT.com.

Symptom: The walking belt slows when walked on

  • Use a surge suppressor meeting specifications on page 15.
  • If the belt is overtightened, performance may decrease. Remove key, unplug cord. Use hex key to turn idler roller screws counterclockwise 1/4 turn. The belt should lift 2-3 inches (5-7 cm). Keep belt centered. Repeat until properly tightened.
  • Your treadmill belt has high-performance lubricant. Never apply silicone spray or other substances unless instructed by an authorized service representative, as this can cause deterioration and wear. If more lubricant is suspected, see front cover.
  • If the belt still slows, contact Member Care.

Symptom: The walking belt is off-center or slips

  • Off-center: Remove key, unplug cord. If belt shifted left, turn left idler roller screw clockwise 1/2 turn. If shifted right, turn counterclockwise 1/2 turn. Keep belt centered. Repeat until centered.
  • Slips: Remove key, unplug cord. Use hex key to turn idler roller screws clockwise 1/4 turn. Belt should lift 2-3 inches (5-7 cm). Keep belt centered. Repeat until properly tightened.

Symptom: The displays of the console do not function properly

  • Reset the console to factory default settings. This requires two people. Turn off power. Locate the small opening (D) on the console. Using a bent paper clip (E), press and hold the button inside the opening while a second person presses the power switch to the on/reset position. Continue holding until the console turns on. The console will then turn off and on again. If it does not, use the power switch to cycle power. Check for firmware updates. Note: This action erases custom settings.
