Names of Parts & Functions
The iBasso DX150 has several physical controls and ports:
Physical Controls (Side View):
- a. Power Button: Short press to turn the LCD screen on/off. Long press to display a pop-up window with options for Power off, Reboot, and To Mango.
- b. Volume Control Wheel: Rotate upwards to increase volume, downwards to decrease volume.
- c. Next/Fast Forward Button: Short press to play the next track. Long press for fast forward.
- d. Play/Pause Button: Short press to play/pause. On Mango OS, long press to lock the screen.
- e. Previous/Rewind Button: Short press to replay the previous track. Long press for rewind.
Ports (Top and Bottom Views):
- 1. Mini Optical/Coaxial Output Port: Use with a mini optical cable or the furnished coaxial cable to play music on an external device with coaxial or optical input. This port has the highest output priority, disabling phone/line out when plugged in.
- 2. Type-C Port: Connect to a computer or USB charger for charging. Can function as a card reader when connected to a computer. Supports OTG storage devices for playing music files. Can work as a USB DAC when connected to a PC or Mac.
- 3. Balanced Phone Port: Connect 2.5mm balanced earphones for audio output.
- 4. Phone Port: Connect single-ended earphones for audio output.
- 5. Line Out Port: Use a 3.5mm interconnect cable to connect to an external amplifier's line-in port.
- 6. Micro SD Card Slot: Insert a Micro SD card to access stored files. After insertion, a screen prompts to "Scan SD Card" (press YES) or "Browse Files" (press NO) to view files in a folder structure.
Basic Operation
Power On/Off:
- Press and hold the power button to power on.
- Once powered on, long press the power button to display the pop-up window, then select "Power Off" to turn off the DX150.
Power On/Off the Screen:
Single press the power button to turn the screen on or off after the device is powered on.
Reset:
If the DX150 stops unexpectedly or keys become unresponsive, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the device.
Charging:
The DX150 can be charged via the USB port using a computer or any USB charger with a 5V output voltage and 1A or higher output current. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours with a 5V 2A USB AC adapter when the DX150 is powered off.
Connecting to a Computer as a USB DAC:
The DX150 can function as a USB DAC for Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. It is driver-free on Mac and Linux. For Windows, download and install the driver from iBasso.com. The DX150 supports up to 32bit/384kHz PCM and native DSD up to 256x when used as a USB DAC.
Instructions:
- Power on the DX150.
- Navigate to Settings > DAC and press the DAC ON button.
- The "USB DAC" screen will appear on the DX150.
- Connect the DX150 to a computer using the furnished Type-C cable.
- On the computer, select "iBasso Audio HiFi device" as the audio output device. You can now play music on the computer and listen via the DX150.
Android Basic Features Introduction
WiFi Connection:
On the Android desktop, swipe down from the top of the screen to display the notification bar. Press the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) icon to turn on WiFi. The first time connecting, select your hotspot and enter the password. Subsequent connections will remember the password, allowing connection by simply pressing the WLAN icon.
Application (APP) Installation:
- Press the internet browser icon on the desktop.
- Enter the website address of the desired APP.
- Find the download icon on the website and start the download.
- Return to the desktop and open the download manager.
- Press the downloaded app and follow the prompts to install it.
App, to Uninstall:
- Press the Settings icon on the desktop, scroll down, and press "Apps".
- Select the APP you wish to uninstall.
- Press "Uninstall" to remove the APP.
USB Connections:
Connect the DX150 to a computer using the Type-C cable. Swipe down from the top of the screen to display the notification bar. Press the USB connection icon to choose the type of USB use (e.g., Charging, File transfers, Photo transfer (PTP), MIDI).
Charging: The DX150 can be charged by a USB quick charger, computer via USB port, or any USB charger with 5V output voltage and 1A or more output current. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours with a quick charger and 3 hours with a 5V 2A USB AC adapter (times are based on the DX150 being off and charging).
USB Modes:
- File Transfers (MTP): Transfer files to Windows or Mac.
- Photo Transfer (PTP): Transfer photos or files if MTP is not supported.
- MIDI: Use the device for MIDI input.
Firmware Update:
- Load the firmware update file (ota.zip) onto the root folder of an SD card.
- On the Android desktop, navigate to Settings > About DX150 > System updates > Local update > Default, and tap the zip file.
- Press the update button to start the update process.
- The entire update process will take about 10 minutes. Reboot the DX150 after the update is completed.
Power Off, Reboot:
Long press the power button for 3 seconds. A pop-up window will appear with two options: "Power off" and "Reboot". Selecting "Power off" will shut down the DX150. Selecting "Reboot" will restart the device.
