Placement Guidelines
Display Placement
Place the display in a dry area, free of dirt and dust. It can be used on a tabletop or mounted on a wall.
5-in-1 Sensor Placement
The 5-in-1 sensor is designed for outdoor use. Choose an open location with no obstructions above or around the sensor for accuracy.
Important Placement Guidelines
- Wireless Range: Display and sensor must be within 330 feet (100 meters).
- Maximize Wireless Range: Place units away from large metallic items, thick walls, or metal surfaces.
- Prevent Wireless Interference: Place units at least 3 feet (.9 m) away from electronic devices.
- Locate Away From Heat Sources: Position sensor away from heaters, air conditioners, chimneys, exhaust vents, and heat-radiating surfaces like asphalt or concrete.
- Locate Away From Humidity Sources: Avoid installing near pools, spas, or other bodies of water.
- Locate Away From Sprinkler Heads: Do not install where sprinklers will spray the sensor.
- Locate Away From Wind & Rain Obstructions: Mount in a wide open area with few structures to ensure accurate wind measurement.
For installation photos and videos, visit www.AcuRite.com/5in1.
5-in-1 Sensor Installation
- Installation Height: Mount at a minimum height of 5 feet (1.5 meters) in an open area. Higher mounting (e.g., 33 feet / 10 meters) is recommended for wind measurements.
- Mounting Options: The bracket can be screwed onto wooden posts (2"x4" or larger) or mounted to a 3/4" steel pipe.
- Solar Cell Installation: Install the sensor with the solar cell facing SOUTH to maximize sun exposure and properly orient wind direction.
Installation Steps:
- Fasten the mounting base to a post or pole using the longer screws.
- Insert the mounting base into the hole on the bottom of the sensor.
- Ensure arrows on the sensor point correctly and the bubble level is centered. The solar cell should face south.
- Fasten the sensor to the mounting base using the shorter screws.
Basic setup is complete. Synchronization may take a few minutes.
Using the Weather Station
Press the [ ] button to navigate the main menu:
- Records: View high/low values and trends.
- Alarms: Set temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall alarms, plus a time alarm and storm alarm.
- Setup: Re-enter initial setup.
- Display: Adjust brightness, contrast, tint, screen cycle, and backlight (auto dim, sleep mode). Auto dim adjusts brightness based on time of day (100% from 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM, 15% from 9:01 PM - 5:59 AM). Sleep Mode dims the display during chosen hours, showing only essential readings.
- Sensor: Add, remove, or view sensor information.
- Units: Change measurement units for pressure, temperature, wind speed, rainfall, and distance.
- Calibrate: Adjust display or sensor readings. Select the unit, then the reading, and follow prompts.
- Factory Reset: Revert display to factory defaults.
Weather Forecast
AcuRite's Self-Calibrating Forecasting analyzes pressure changes over time (Learning Mode) to determine altitude and generate personalized 12-to-24 hour forecasts. Accuracy improves after 14 days and is optimized after 33 days of continuous operation.
Moon Phase
The moon phase is displayed between 7:00 PM and 5:59 AM, shown via icons: NEW, WAXING CRESCENT, 1ST QUARTER, FULL, 3RD QUARTER, WANING CRESCENT.
Expand the System
This weather station can be expanded to include lightning detection by connecting a compatible AcuRite Lightning Sensor (Model 06045, sold separately). Available at www.AcuRite.com.

Troubleshooting
- No reception / no bars: Relocate units, ensure they are at least 3 ft (.9 m) from interference sources, use correct batteries, or synchronize units by removing power from both, then reinstalling batteries in sensor and power adapter in display, keeping them close together.
- Temperature showing dashes: May indicate wireless interference. Re-add sensor to display via "Sensors" sub-menu.
- Inaccurate forecast: Allow product to run continuously for 33 days for calibration. Forecasts predict 12-24 hours ahead, not current conditions.
- Inaccurate wind readings: Compare data with a sensor at the same mounting height (pro stations are often at 30 ft / 9 m). Ensure sensor is mounted at least 5 ft (1.5 m) high with no obstructions. Check that wind cups spin freely; lubricate if necessary.
- Inaccurate temperature or humidity: Ensure units are away from heat/ventilation sources and moisture sources. Mount sensor at least 5 ft (1.5 m) high. Calibrate readings if needed.
- Display screen not working: Check that the power adapter is securely plugged into the display and an electrical outlet.

Care & Maintenance
Display Care
Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid caustic cleaners or abrasives. Keep away from dust, dirt, and moisture. Clean ventilation ports with a gentle puff of air.
5-in-1 Sensor Care
- Clean the Sensor: Use a soft damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the rain collector funnel or solar cell.
- Insect Prevention: Spray sensor with household insect repellent to prevent nesting. Follow repellent instructions.
- Snow & Freezing Weather: The sensor is freeze-proof. Snowmelt in the collector cup will register as rain.
- Clean the Rain Collector Cup: Remove and empty the debris filter located in the rain collector funnel.
- Clean the Wind Vane & Anemometer: Remove any foreign matter for free movement. Use a small amount of spray lubricant, clear silicone, or graphite powder on the anemometer if needed.
Calibrate the Rain Gauge
To improve rain gauge accuracy:
- Ensure the 5-in-1 sensor is level using the built-in bubble level.
- Place the display nearby to monitor during calibration.
- Make a pinhole in the bottom of a plastic cup. Hold the cup over the rain gauge and fill it with exactly 1 cup (8 oz) of water, allowing it to drip into the gauge.
- The display should register rainfall increments as the internal buckets tip.
- The cup should take over 20 minutes to empty to simulate steady rainfall. The display should register approximately 1.06" (27 mm) when empty.
Tips:
- Aim for about 25 water drops between bucket tips. Adjust calibration screws on the bottom of the sensor if needed (clockwise increases rainfall, counter-clockwise decreases). Adjust equally on both screws (e.g., 1/8 turn for 2% adjustment).
- If buckets don't tip or water doesn't drain alternately, check the rain gauge or its adjustment (see Troubleshooting).
Watch the calibration video at www.acurite.com/5in1.
