Your doctor has chosen the PREVENA RESTORTM Incision Management System A portable, disposable device to help you on your healing journey Meet your PREVENA RESTORTM System The PREVENA RESTORTM System contains these components: A therapy unit that provides negative pressure to the dressing A dressing that is placed over your incision A connection tube A canister where fluid may collect A carrying case with an adjustable strap A charger for the system's rechargeable battery The PREVENA RESTORTM Incision Management System helps make the recovery process easier for you Surgery can be a difficult, emotional experience, and it's normal to worry about whether your incision is healing properly. With the PREVENA RESTORTM System, you can have more confidence on your healing journey. It covers the entire area impacted by your surgery and uses state-of-the-art technology to remove infectious materials. The PREVENA RESTORTM System helps you start your recovery off right. With your incision site protected, you can continue with many normal day-to-day activities, which can help you feel more like yourself again. Fully covers the incision and surrounding soft tissue Helps hold incision edges together1 Provides protection from outside sources of infection2 Removes fluid from the incision site3 Reduces swelling4 The PREVENA RESTORTM System is easy to use and care for Keep your dressing on for as long as your doctor instructs you to--up to 14 days. Do not attempt to adjust or remove your dressing. You should return to your treating physician for dressing removal. Keep the therapy unit turned on. The therapy unit will automatically shut off after 14 days, as determined by your doctor. You may or may not see fluid collect in the canister. Some incisions drain more than others. Some don't drain at all. If the canister fills with fluid, turn off the unit and contact your doctor for instructions. Keep your therapy unit safe and dry. Do not drop the therapy unit, get it wet, or allow the tubing to become bent, twisted, or pinched. While you should always keep the therapy unit (pump) dry, light showering while wearing your dressing is permissible if cleared by a doctor. See the following page for details. The system comes with a rechargeable battery. Remember to recharge the battery when you're resting or sleeping. When fully charged, the battery lasts around 9 hours. Wearing the PREVENA RESTORTM System The therapy unit can be worn over or under your clothing and includes a carrying case with an adjustable strap and a belt clip that you can use multiple ways. Sleeping with your PREVENA RESTORTM System Place the dressing and pump in a position where the tubing will not become bent, twisted, or pinched. Keep the therapy unit near your body, making sure it's in a safe position so it's not pulled off a table or bed and dropped onto the floor. Showering with your PREVENA RESTORTM System If cleared by your doctor, light showering is permissible. However, do not bathe with the PREVENA RESTORTM System. The dressing may be exposed to common shower soaps and rinsed with indirect shower stream. Do not submerge the dressing. Do not remove the dressing. Before showering, turn off the therapy unit by holding down the On/Off Button for 3 seconds. Once therapy stops, disconnect the unit from the dressing and store it in a safe place away from any water. When towel drying, avoid disturbing or damaging the dressing. WARNING: If the therapy unit falls into the tub, shower, or sink, unplug the unit immediately (if plugged into an electrical source) and disconnect the unit from the dressing. Contact your doctor or caregiver. Basic operation and indicators Alert Mute Button To silence an audible alert, press and hold the Alert Mute Button for 3 seconds. This will silence the alert for 2 minutes. When pressed, the Alert Mute Button will illuminate to indicate mute has been selected. The alert will reoccur after 2 minutes unless the alert condition has been corrected. On/Off Button To turn the unit on or off, press and hold the On/Off Button for 3 seconds. You should only turn the unit off when you're preparing to shower. Refer to showering instructions on the previous page. The icon will turn green when fully charged. Power connected Fully charged Dressing appearance D uring operation, the dressing should have a wrinkled appearance and the foam should be compressed. If the foam is not compressed or there is an alert on the therapy unit, refer to the troubleshooting section on the following page. See PREVENA PLUSTM Therapy Patient Guide for additional details. Troubleshooting tips Blockage alert A solid yellow LED light above the blockage symbol will turn on, and an audible blockage alert will sound (2 beeps repeating every 15 seconds). · Check for twisted tubing or a full canister. If the canister is full, contact your doctor. · When the blockage is resolved, the visual and audible alerts will turn off. Leak alert A solid yellow LED light above the leak symbol will turn on, and an audible leak alert will sound (2 beeps repeating every 15 seconds). · Ensure the canister is locked securely onto the therapy unit and that all tubing is properly connected and locked. · With the therapy unit on, slowly and firmly press around all edges of the dressing to ensure good contact between the adhesive and skin. If a leak is identified, use a PREVENATM Patch Strip (included in your kit) to help seal leaks around the dressing. If large wrinkles are present, place patch strips so they run in line along the length of the wrinkle and not across the wrinkle. If the alert does not turn off after you attempt to seal the leak, contact your doctor. Low battery level alert A low battery alert indicates approximately 2 hours of therapy remain. · Charge your battery immediately. Therapy ended A solid yellow LED light at the top of the therapy life indicator will turn on. The therapy unit will sound 8 beeps and then beep continuously for 5 seconds before automatically turning off. · Notify your doctor when this occurs. · If the therapy unit has completed therapy and has timed out and an attempt is made to turn the therapy unit on, the therapy unit will sound an alert for 3 seconds and then shut off. Then, turn the unit on again by holding the On/Off Button down for 3 seconds. · If this does not resolve the system fault alert, please contact your doctor.
