Important Information Before Your First Ride

Even with years of cycling experience, it's crucial to be aware of the information in the user manual and the Specific Manual VAE (Power-Assisted Bike). Read them thoroughly before riding your E-Troy.

  • These documents contain important information regarding the composition, usage, and maintenance of your new VAE's electrical components.

Your Safety and That of Others is Paramount:

  • Never ride without the battery; it must be on the bike when you ride, otherwise, the lights will not function.
  • Never ride without a saddle; failure to do so could lead to serious injury.
  • Inspect your bike to ensure no screws or components are loose or damaged. If any defects are found, visit your authorized Devinci dealer for repair.
  • A VAE is faster than a traditional bike, making accident risks with other road users more serious.
  • Consider the conditions mentioned in the Owner's Manual.
  • For VAEs with a rear rack, the weight limit is 20 kg.

The Electrical System Requires Specific Handling:

  • Do not wash your bike with a high-pressure machine. The system is sensitive to humidity. High-pressure water could infiltrate connectors or other electrical parts.
  • Handle the battery with care and be mindful of electrical shocks. Failure to do so could lead to abnormal heating or severe battery damage. In rare cases, electrical shock consequences could lead to fire. If in doubt, have the battery inspected by your authorized Devinci dealer.
  • Perform battery maintenance as indicated in the technical manual.

Battery Care Notes:

  • Only charge the bike with the Bosch charger.
  • When the battery is not used for extended periods, recharge it to 100% (4-5 LEDs on the charge indicator).
  • Regularly check the battery charge status when not in use; recharge to 100% if the charge is below 20% (1 LED). Check the charge level monthly and fully charge the battery every 6 months.
  • It is not recommended to keep the battery connected to the charger for long periods.
  • If the battery is completely discharged for a long time, it may lose a significant portion of its efficiency.
  • Store the battery in a ventilated and dry place. Protect it from humidity.
  • In case of adverse outdoor conditions, remove the battery after your ride and store it in a dry place until the next use.
  • The battery can be stored at temperatures between -10°C and 40°C. For a long service life, store it in a place close to 20°C.
  • Monitor storage temperature and avoid temperature fluctuations. For example, do not leave the battery in your car during summer or outside during a winter storm.
  • It is not recommended to store the battery if it is not connected to the bike.

Follow VAE Transport Instructions:

  • Comply with local transportation laws concerning your VAE.
  • A VAE is heavier than a traditional bike, so be cautious when transporting it. Verify that your bike rack's maximum load capacity is respected. If in doubt, refer to the rack's manual.
  • Your VAE's Li-Ion battery is considered a "dangerous good of class 9" during transport due to its size. Applicable regulations may limit the transport of a separate Li-Ion battery (when not on the bike) in certain locations. This regulation applies to several airlines and transport companies. If you plan to travel with a complete VAE (battery on the bike), regulations are less strict. If you intend to use these transport methods, ensure you understand the regulations applicable to your VAE with the involved transport company before proceeding.

Visit Your Authorized Devinci Dealer for Regular Maintenance:

  • Only your authorized Devinci dealer has the knowledge and equipment to perform maintenance on your VAE.
  • If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask your dealer for assistance.

About Our Manuals

Our user manuals meet ISO 4210-10TS, EN 15194, and EN 14766 standards.

Like many sports, cycling involves risks of injury and accidents. You must be fully aware of these risks. The manufacturer, dealer, seller, or trail maintenance personnel are not responsible for these risks. As you are solely responsible, it is essential that you read and fully understand all parts of this manual.

To ensure maximum safety and optimal enjoyment from the start, it's important to be familiar with your new bike, its handling, and its capabilities. It is your responsibility to properly maintain your bike to reduce the risk of injury. Cycling can be a dangerous activity, even under the best conditions. These risks are associated with cycling and cannot be predicted or avoided; they are solely the responsibility of the cyclist.

Your Authorized Devinci Dealer

Your authorized Devinci dealer can best advise you on the cycling style you wish to pursue. They will help you maintain your equipment in good condition so you can fully enjoy your investment. Your dealer's team is trained, experienced, and equipped to handle repairs and provide appropriate advice.

However, your authorized Devinci dealer cannot make decisions for you or be held responsible for your lack of knowledge, experience, qualification, or common sense. Your dealer will take the time to explain component functionality or help you choose accessories that meet your specific needs.

For more information, refer to the user manual available at www.devinci.com and the Bosch user manual at https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/help-center/manuals, or ask your Devinci dealer. They will gladly answer your questions and provide advice.

Cable Routing

Speed Sensor Cable

Step 1: Insert the speed sensor cable into the cavity on the inner left side of the rear base. Route the cable through the base to the front cavity.

Step 2: Insert the cable into the motor shell through the left cavity at the bottom of the seat tube.

Step 3: Secure the cable at the cavity entrance using the provided bracket and screw.

Ensure that cables intended for connection to the motor do not impede its insertion into the shell by routing them against the upper wall.

Rear Brake Hose

Step 1: Ensure the rubber stopper is in place on the inner central cavity of the base. Then, insert the rear brake hose through the stopper and route it through the base to the front cavity.

Step 2: Insert the rear brake hose into the motor shell through the left cavity at the bottom of the seat tube.

Step 3: Slide the rear brake hose diagonally to the left towards the head tube.

Step 4: Insert the rear brake hose into the left oval cavity of the head tube, then route the hose out through the left upper stopper.

Secure the rear brake hose and speed sensor cable at the base in the designated area using small ties.

Rear Derailleur Cable

Tip: Slightly bend the cable end to facilitate insertion into the base before starting.

Step 1: Ensure the rubber stopper is in place on the cavity located under the right side of the base. Then, insert the rear speed cable through the stopper.

Step 2: Route the cable through the base and out through the front cavity.

Step 3: Insert the cable into the motor shell through the cavity located at the bottom of the right side of the seat tube.

Step 4: Slide the rear speed cable diagonally to the left towards the head tube.

For the E-Troy Led Controller model, slide an anti-impact foam sleeve onto the cable up to the diagonal before inserting the cable into the head tube.

Ensure that the cables and wires previously inserted into the diagonal do not cross each other.

Step 5: Insert the rear speed cable into the left oval cavity of the head tube, then route the cable out through the lower left stopper.

At the base, secure the rear speed cable in the designated area to immobilize it using small ties.

Seatpost Cable

Step 1: Insert the seatpost cable into the stopper located on the right side of the head tube. Route the cable diagonally through the opening in the right interior side of the head tube.

Step 2: Slide the seatpost cable to the right diagonally towards the motor shell.

Step 3: Insert the seatpost cable to the top end of the seat tube.

Tension the seatpost cable as much as possible so it takes up minimal space in the motor shell and does not hinder its insertion.

Console Electrical Cable

Step 1: For E-Troy Led controller: Insert the electrical cable through the cavity on the top of the head tube. For E-Troy Purion/Kiox: Insert the electrical cable through the cavity at the top right side of the diagonal.

Step 2: For E-Troy Led controller: Slide the electrical cable from the right side of the diagonal to the motor shell. For E-Troy Purion/Kiox: Slide the electrical cable from the left side of the diagonal to the motor shell.

Step 3: For E-Troy Led controller: Install the rubber stopper on the upper part of the cable until it fits into the cavity on the right side of the diagonal. For E-Troy Purion/Kiox: Fit the console into the cavity on the head tube.

Ensure that cables intended for connection to the motor do not impede its insertion into the shell by routing them against the upper wall.

Charge Port Cable

Step 1: Position the charge port cable connector in its socket located at the bottom of the diagonal. Secure it with the provided screws.

Step 2: Route the rest of the charge port cable to the motor shell.

Ensure that cables intended for connection to the motor do not impede its insertion into the shell by routing them against the upper wall.
