More Info

Introduction

The Motion Sensor detects movement in a certain area and triggers different actions in response. This makes your home safer and smarter.

Device Diagram:

A diagram shows the motion sensor with labels: Sensor Detector, LED, Cover, Mounting Stand. Another diagram shows the back of the sensor with labels: Reset Button, Battery Compartment, Cover, and a CR2450 battery.

Tapo Smart Ecosystem

Tapo is the easy way to turn your home into a smart home. With the Tapo Hub as a bridge, Tapo Smart Sensor works with a wide range of Tapo accessories. So you can easily control and monitor your home from anywhere.

Diagram: A living room scene illustrating the Tapo ecosystem. Devices shown and connected via a Tapo Hub include: Window/Door Sensor, Motion Sensor, Smart Switch, Smart Button, and Temperature & Humidity Sensor.

Automate Your Home

Create a Smart Action to automate your smart devices and activate them all with motion. Customize your own Smart Actions to group your Tapo products together any way you want.

Example 1: Build Smart Alarm

A Tapo T100 Motion Sensor + Tapo Hub = Build Smart Alarm. This triggers an alarm to frighten away unwanted visitors and sends notifications via the Tapo app when motion is detected.

Example 2: Set Night Light / Set Automatic Lighting

A Tapo T100 Motion Sensor + Smart Lighting = Set Night Light. Automatically turns on assigned smart lights when you get up at night. OR Set Automatic Lighting: The smart light turns on as people come and go, then turns off automatically after 2 minutes.

1. Set Up Your Sensor

Tap the [add-icon] button in the Tapo app, tap Sensors, and select your model. Follow the instructions in the Tapo app to complete the setup.

Diagram: The 'Add Your Device' screen in the Tapo app is shown, with categories like Cameras, Hubs, Plugs, Bulbs, Light Strips, Sensors, and Switches. The Tapo T100 sensor is highlighted under the Sensors category.

2. Check the LED & Set Up

Check if the LED blinks. If not, use a pin to press and hold the Reset button for 5s. Follow app instructions to complete the setup.

Diagram: A screen titled 'Check the LED' shows the motion sensor with a blinking LED. Text indicates that if setting up for the first time, remove the battery insulation tab. Buttons for 'LED is off' and 'LED IS BLINKING' are shown.

3. Test Your Sensor

Take your sensor to the preferred location and wave your hand in front of the sensor to test it. The Tapo app should show if the sensor is triggered.

4. Place Your Sensor

Option 1: Magnetically attach to metallic objects.

Option 2: Stick to a clean wall with included adhesive.

Option 3: Place it on a shelf or table.

Diagrams: Illustrations show the three placement options: magnetic attachment to a metallic object, adhesive attachment to a wall, and placing on a shelf.

Detection Area

The sensor should be aligned with the detection area and placed as close as possible to the edge of a table or cabinet. The installation height should not be higher than 2 meters.

Diagrams: Side and top views illustrate the detection area of the sensor, showing ranges up to 7 meters and a 120° view.

Use Your Smart Sensor

After you successfully set up your hub and motion sensor, you will see your devices listed on the home page. With the Tapo app, you can view and manage your devices and get instant notifications anytime, anywhere.

Home Page

This page lists all the devices you've added and you can view them directly and manage them easily. Tap the card to enter its Status page.

Home Page Settings

Long press on a card, then you can reorder cards, tap to remove your device from your account, share your device, favorite/unfavorite device, or relocate your device to other Home.

Diagrams: Screenshots of the Tapo app's Home Page, Home Page Settings (showing options like Share, Unfavorite, Relocate), and Status Page (displaying an Event Log with motion detection events) are included.

Featured Smart Actions

The sensor can work with other Tapo devices to automate your home. You can customize smart actions based on the templates.

Example 1: Turn on a night light when you get out of bed (10:00 PM - 7:00 AM next day)

Example 2: Build a smart alarm when you are away from home (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM)

Example 3: Turn lights on when you come and go, then turn off after 2 minutes
