Product Overview

The smART sketcher 2.0 is an electronic toy projector designed for creative drawing and tracing. Key components include:

  • Activity Cartridge Slot: Where drawing cartridges are inserted.
  • Activity Cartridge Storage Compartment: For storing cartridges.
  • On/Off Switch (back): To power the device on and off.
  • USB Power Plug connection: For connecting to a power source.
  • Stability Legs: Extendable legs to stabilize the projector and act as a paper holder.
  • Battery Compartment (bottom): For inserting batteries.
  • Control Buttons: Used for navigating and controlling the projector.
  • LED Indicators: Provide visual feedback on device status.
  • Adjustable Focus: To sharpen the projected image.
  • Paper Holder: Integrated into the stability legs.

Simple Setup

  1. Separate the projector head from the base unit.
  2. Insert the head unit into the top of the base unit until it clicks.
  3. Connect the included USB Power Cable to the unit and a USB power outlet (5V DC, minimum 1.2A). Alternatively, insert four D batteries (not included) according to the directions. For battery use, enable "efficiency mode" by pressing the blue circle button for 2 seconds.
  4. Extend the blue legs to stabilize the projector and create a paper holder.
  5. Flip the Power Switch on the back to turn on the projector.
  6. Insert the pre-loaded Activity Cartridge into the top of the projector.
  7. The projector light will automatically turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity. Reactivate the light using the app or projector buttons.

Quick Start Guide

Requires Android 5.01+ or Apple iOS 9.0+.

  1. Download the "smART sketcher Projector" app on your mobile device or tablet.
  2. Open the app and enable Bluetooth on your device.
  3. If new to smART sketcher: Click "I have a smART sketcher" and follow registration. If registered: Click "Login with Flycatcher ID".
  4. Connect the device to the projector via Bluetooth. Choose your play mode: "Learn to Draw" (with pre-loaded cartridge) or "Trace Pictures" (from your device).
  5. To Trace Pictures: Click the camera button (grant camera/photo access). Select an image from your gallery or take a new photo. Apply a filter and adjust darkness with the slider. Press the "check" button to transfer the image to the projector. Begin tracing on paper.
  6. To Learn to Draw: Insert an Activity Cartridge into the projector. The app will display content. Select an image to draw, which will be projected onto your paper. Begin drawing.

Control Buttons Functions

  • Go Forward a Step: Advances to the next drawing step.
  • Go to Home/Animate: Returns to the main menu or starts animation.
  • Go Back a Step: Reverts to the previous drawing step.
  • Previous Drawing: Selects the previous image.
  • Repeat Last Step/AutoPlay: Repeats the current step or plays the drawing automatically.
  • Next Drawing: Selects the next image.

Safety Information

Battery Safety Information

Exceptional circumstances may lead to battery fluid leakage, causing chemical burns or product damage. To prevent leakage:

  • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
  • Rechargeable batteries must be removed from the toy before charging and charged under adult supervision.
  • Do not mix battery types (alkaline, carbon-zinc, nickel-cadmium) or old and new batteries.
  • Use only batteries of the same or equivalent types as recommended.
  • Insert batteries with correct polarity.
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the product.
  • Do not short-circuit supply terminals.
  • Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of the product in fire.

Battery Installation

To insert or change batteries: Twist the compartment screw counter-clockwise to loosen. Remove old batteries and insert four D batteries with correct polarity. Replace the screw and twist clockwise to close.

External Power Supply

If your smART sketcher came with a USB POWER CABLE: Connect to an AC ADAPTER with an output DC Voltage Rating of 5V DC and a minimum current Rating of 1.2A. ⚠️ WARNING: DO NOT PLUG USB CABLE INTO A LAPTOP OR COMPUTER!

If your smART sketcher came with an AC ADAPTER: Transformers/chargers used with the toy must be regularly examined for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure, and other parts. If damage is found, the toy must not be used with that transformer/charger until repaired.

The toy is not intended for children under 3 years old. Use only with a transformer for toys. Model numbers and specifications for compatible transformers are provided (e.g., Input: AC 100-240V 50-60 Hz, Output: DC 6V, 1A). The transformer is not a toy. Disconnect toys from the transformer before cleaning if they are to be cleaned with liquid.

If interference occurs, try correcting it by reorienting/relocating the antenna, increasing separation between equipment and receiver, connecting to a different circuit, or consulting a dealer/technician.
