Scythe Big Shuriken 3 Rev. B CPU Cooler Installation Guide
Introduction
This guide provides instructions for installing the Scythe Big Shuriken 3 Rev. B CPU Cooler (Model: SCBSK-3100). This low-profile cooler is designed for compact PC builds while offering efficient cooling performance for your CPU.
Package Contents
Before proceeding, please verify that all components are present:
- Scythe Big Shuriken 3 CPU Cooler heatsink
- 120mm PWM fan
- Mounting hardware kit (screws, brackets, backplate)
- Thermal paste tube
- Installation manual (this document)
Installation Procedure
Follow these steps carefully to install your new CPU cooler.
Step 1: Prepare the Motherboard
Ensure your computer is powered off and unplugged. Remove the existing CPU cooler if one is installed. Clean the surface of the CPU and the heatsink contact plate with isopropyl alcohol to remove any old thermal paste residue.

The Big Shuriken 3 Rev. B supports various CPU socket types (e.g., Intel LGA1700/1200/115x, AMD AM4/AM5). Select the appropriate brackets and backplate for your motherboard. Attach the brackets to the motherboard using the provided screws, ensuring correct orientation for your socket type.

Apply a small amount of the provided thermal paste to the center of the CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS). A pea-sized dot or a thin line is generally recommended.

Carefully align the heatsink over the CPU, ensuring the mounting holes on the heatsink align with the installed brackets. Secure the heatsink by tightening the screws. For even pressure distribution, tighten screws in a diagonal pattern.

Mount the 120mm PWM fan onto the heatsink. The fan typically attaches using clips or screws provided with the cooler. Ensure the fan is oriented to push air through the heatsink fins.

Connect the fan's power cable to the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard. This header is usually located near the CPU socket.
