Setup

Attention

Disconnect the battery pack or place the switch in the locked/off position before mounting, adjusting, or changing accessories to prevent accidental starting.

Mounting Accessories (Fig. 2)

  • Clean the end of the bit to remove debris.
  • Lightly grease the bit with oil or lubricant.
  • Insert the accessory into the chuck through the dust shield, twisting and pushing until it locks.
  • Pull on the accessory to ensure it is properly seated.

Removing Accessories (Fig. 3)

  • Accessories (bits) may be hot after use. Avoid skin contact; wear protective gloves or cloth.
  • To remove, pull the locking sleeve back and pull the bit forward.
  • Wipe all accessories clean after removal.

Trigger Switch with Variable Speed Control (3)

The tool has a variable speed trigger. Squeeze to turn on/off. Speed adjusts from minimum to maximum RPM based on trigger pressure. Apply more pressure for increased speed, release for decreased speed.

Forward/Reverse Lever and Trigger Lock (4)

This lever, located above the trigger, controls chuck rotation and locks the trigger in the "OFF" position to prevent accidental starts and battery discharge.

  • For forward rotation: Move the lever to the far left (with chuck pointed away).
  • For reverse rotation: Move the lever to the extreme right.
  • To activate trigger lockout: Move the lever to the center (off) position.

Caveat

Do not change rotation direction until the tool stops completely. Shifting during rotation can damage the tool.

Mode Selection Switch: Drill/Hammer (2)

The dial/selector switch configures the tool for drilling or hammer drilling applications.

  • Drill Action: For drilling in wood, metal, plastic, or similar materials.
  • Hammer Action Drill: For drilling in concrete, asphalt, tile, or other hard materials.

Caution

Do not use the selection switch until the tool stops completely. Do not use demolition or chipping bits (bull points, chisels, shovels, etc.).

Brake

When the trigger is released, an electric brake quickly stops the chuck, which is helpful for repetitive screw driving and removal.

Inserting and Unlocking the Battery Pack (6 and 7)

  • Set the forward/reverse lever (4) to the center (off) position.
  • Slide the charged battery pack into the case until it clicks (Fig. 5).
  • To remove the battery pack, press the release button and slide the pack forward.

Work Tips

Following these tips reduces tool wear and the possibility of operator injury:

  • High efficiency requires sharp, well-maintained accessories.
  • Hammers require a warm-up period (15 seconds to 2 minutes depending on ambient temperature).
  • A new hammer requires a break-in period (up to 5 hours of operation) for full performance.
  • To prolong bit life, contact the workpiece before pulling the trigger.
  • During operation, hold the drill firmly with moderate, constant pressure. Excessive pressure at low speed stops the hammer; insufficient pressure causes friction and damage.
  • Use Carbide Tipped Drill Bits for stone, concrete, cement, brick, cinder block, and hard non-metallic materials.
  • Clean bits of snags before and after use.

Safe Operation Reminders

  • Support or secure all work before drilling. Apply constant, even pressure in line with the bit.
  • As the bit exits the opposite side, reduce pressure and continue running while withdrawing the bit.
  • Some materials require slow drilling speeds; others require higher speeds. Drill glass, porcelain, ceramics, tiles, plastics, etc., at low speed with specialized bits and lubricants.

Drilling Mode: Wood or Plastic

If not using a backing block, ease pressure as the bit nears the exit to prevent splintering. Complete the hole from the opposite side. If the bit binds, reverse the drilling operation to remove it.

Drilling Mode: Metal

For hard materials, apply more pressure and use slower speeds. For drilling in metal:

  • Punch a starting hole in the center.
  • Lubricate the bit tip with cutting oil (except for soft metals like aluminum, copper, cast iron).
  • For large holes, drill a smaller pilot hole first.
  • Maintain sufficient pressure to prevent the bit from spinning, which dulls it and shortens its life.

Masonry Drilling

Use a carbide-tipped masonry bit for concrete, mortar, brick, soft stone, etc. Pressure depends on material hardness; soft materials require less pressure, hard materials require more to keep the bit from turning.

Maintenance

For Safe Operation

  • Keep the machine and ventilation slots clean.
  • Clean the tool holder daily.

Replacing the Dust Cap

Damaged dust caps can cause tool errors due to dust seeping into the chuck.

  • Pull back and hold the locking sleeve.
  • Remove the dust cap with a suitable tool.
  • With the locking sleeve removed, pull the new cap on until seated, then slide the locking sleeve forward.

Should the machine fail, contact your official TOTAL dealer.

Environment

  • Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste; use separate collection facilities. ♻️
  • Contact your local authority for information on available collection systems.
  • Improper disposal can release hazardous substances into the environment.
  • Recycle raw materials instead of disposing of them as waste.
  • Sort the machine, accessories, and packaging for environmentally friendly recycling.
  • Plastic components are labeled for categorized recycling.
